What can be made from old toothbrushes

Since hygiene rules strongly recommend replacing a toothbrush every three months, a certain number of used assistants for cleaning teeth appear at home, especially if the family is large. The editors of Homius suggest not to rush to throw out used hygiene accessories, but to find out what useful and interesting things can be made from toothbrushes.

Unnecessary into necessary: where to use an old toothbrush

Lovers of sparkling cleanliness are offered an effective way to clean the seams between tiles - a very problematic place! However, removing dirt from such hard-to-reach places is easier than ever: we cut off the handle of the brush, and attach the remaining part to the screwdriver with the bristles facing out.

If there is no screwdriver, then the small brush head will still work properly, only with the help of your efforts

This device can be effectively used for cleaning dirty shoes, stubborn stains on carpet and clothes. After treatment with this attachment, the mosquito net on the window and the hood above the stove will become pristinely clean.

A regular old toothbrush can be sent to a new service - its bristles will work great in the kitchen as a vegetable cleaner.

In the kitchen, a small brush will go where a sponge cannot reach. Therefore, all handles, teapot spouts, coffee grinders, saucepans and other kitchen utensils will become perfectly clean.

Women who dye their hair at home will also be able to appreciate the quality of the bristles - they perfectly color the roots

In addition to coloring, a brush with foam or mousse applied to it conveniently forms the volume of the hairstyle and easily styles individual strands

Do you need a facial peel? We suggest disinfecting the stubble with a product such as chlorhexidine and then massaging your face. A simple procedure will help you easily remove dead skin cells and help your skin renew itself.

This massage with foaming cleanser helps get rid of excess sebaceous secretions.

Cyclists can use soft bristles to clean the chain well.

Does your toolkit need comfortable handles? Well, great: cut off the head of the brush, and pierce its handle along the axis with a hot knitting needle. Now the place where the metal tool is inserted is ready.

For example, it’s not difficult to improve a crochet hook

The bristles are good for cleaning aquarium objects that are often coated with plaque. A dry brush will quickly remove dirt from your headphones, hair dryer, and help clean your phone speaker.

Graphic artists use bristles to sprinkle droplets of paint onto paper to create an original design.

Jewelry also receives its share of care, and therefore cleanliness and shine.

Don’t get lost and use bristles to wash not only sneakers, but also the sink, tools, laptop keyboard, cutting boards, and any other hard-to-reach places in the apartment.

Kitchen stove

The stove must be kept clean at all times, so it must be washed regularly. If during the cooking process oily and fatty mixtures or food residues get on the stove, it will be problematic to remove the contamination. It is not necessary to use chemicals and hard sponges that can scratch the surface of the slab. All you need for a gentle and at the same time high-quality cleansing is: baking soda, vinegar and a regular toothbrush with medium-hard bristles:

  1. Wet the surface of the stove and cover it with a thin layer of baking soda.
  2. Using a brush, begin to exfoliate stubborn stains and if they are difficult to remove, then use a spray bottle to spray vinegar, previously mixed with water in a ratio of 1 to 1.
  3. At the end of the procedure, wipe the stove first with a damp and then with a dry cloth.

In addition to the kitchen stove, using a brush you can easily clean any kitchen utensils: strainers, graters, spare parts for a meat grinder and bread machine, narrow necks of bottles or cans. Thanks to a few movements, the dishes will acquire a neat appearance, getting rid of food residues and bacteria.

Crafts from a toothbrush

The limits of creativity are only in our heads. Therefore, we urgently expand the horizons of our worldview and find out how else we can use an old brush.

Brush bracelets

Brushes made of transparent plastic turn into jewelry in the next life. You can create beauty using boiling water, tongs, pliers and a dry towel.

The bristles are not needed, remove them with pliers, and then lower the object into boiling water on the stove for 10 seconds. Use tongs to pick up the hot product and place it on a towel. Using a tool, we give the heated handle the required shape.

We bend the handle to the shape of the wrist, and you can make a spiral out of it or leave it flat

The video shows how all the work goes:

At the same time, you can make several of these magic bracelets at once and give them to the children you know. It’s even better if they are present during the transformation and transformation of an unnecessary object into a very necessary one.

Toothbrush doll

If you arm yourself with fabric, scissors, glue and a needle and thread, then within an hour the child will receive an original doll. School-age children can do everything with their own hands.

We make suitable clothes from fabric, sew all the items into one finished outfit. You will need to put a homemade hat on the head of the brush. All clothing is glued to the handle of the product. Thus, a whole brush family can find new life.

Wobbler: no extra expenses for fishing

Many fishermen take great pleasure in making their own baits. We suggest creating a homemade wobbler in a short time.

You will need to prepare a lighter, a nail (preferably a long one), pliers, a stationery knife, wire or metal clip, fishing rings, triple or double hooks and glue.

As you can see from the photo, the wobbler is made from a toothbrush handle

Measure the required length on the brush handle and cut it off with a knife. The edges need to be held over the flame of a lighter to give them the desired shape. We cut the blade at the front. Next, heat the nail over the fire and insert it inside along a piece of the future wobbler.

At the next stage, we use wire to make loops at the back and front, where the fishing line and tee will be fixed. Heat the nail and pierce a hole in the center from bottom to top. This is necessary to insert the tee fastening loop. We fix all hinge exits with glue. Now you can equip the product with tees and fishing rings.

This is how an object that has lost its original meaning gains a chance for a new life. And we, therefore, are in no hurry to throw the product in the trash, turning the planet into a landfill! Maybe you have your own original ideas on how to use old toothbrushes?

A man will appreciate it

  • The handle of an old brush will replace a broken similar part, for example, a screwdriver or an awl.
  • The former cleaning item will also come in handy for lubricating a bicycle chain.
  • You always need a hanger in your garage or cottage. Why buy new? The bristles of the brush are removed and the plastic part is placed in boiling water. The high temperature softens the plastic so it can now be bent into a hook shape. Holes are made in the plate - the former working hygienic surface - for fastening to the wall.
  • Due to its miniature size and long handle, the brush is useful for painting internal hard-to-reach parts of the heating battery.
  • Fishing enthusiasts may also need it - wobblers are made from part of the handle.

In these simple ways you can give new life to an object that has lost its original meaning.

Take a pair of wire cutters and remove the stubble. If you have a file, this will make the task easier, because you can simply trim off the excess. Now place the plastic stick into boiling water. It needs to be kept in the pan for about an hour so that the plastic becomes soft.

Remove the former brush from the water with tongs and bend it to form a bracelet. If something goes wrong, immerse the workpiece in water for another 10 minutes and fix it. Just be careful because the plastic is very hot. Then immediately plunge it into cold water to set your toothbrush bracelet in position.

Make some colorful accessories. Together they look even more beautiful. Believe me, no one will ever guess that your bright summer bracelet is made from an old toothbrush!

And this craft from an old toothbrush will appeal to men who love fishing. If you don’t want to buy a wobbler, make it yourself from scrap materials found in any home.

  • wire;
  • plastic eyes;
  • file or cutter;
  • emery.

You need a protruding part of the brush to make the wobbler curved. Cut off the excess with a file and sand the edges.

The hook can be made from thick wire or from an unnecessary key ring. Now you need to make a blade and a hole for the hook. The blade can be made from the brush body itself. To do this, you need to cut it and then bend it. To make the material pliable, heat it with a lighter. With your other hand, take the tweezers and bend the desired part.

What types of electric brushes are there?

Today, many varieties of electric brushes are produced: for adults and children, for people with certain dental diseases, with and without timers, round and oblong, etc. Depending on the type of movement of the bristles and the operating principle of the motor, these devices are divided into standard, sonic and ultrasonic.

Depending on the type of power supply, electric brushes are either rechargeable or battery-powered. There are models with additional functions, for example, ionic. They are equipped with a metal plate, which releases ions during brushing and enhances the cleansing effect.

Each type of toothbrush has its own advantages and disadvantages. Ultrasonic models are considered the most effective, but they are more expensive than other types of devices. However, the choice of a specific device is determined not only by price, but also by medical indications.

Washing glasses and other hard-to-reach places

If you need to wash the bottom of an elongated thin glass that is impossible to reach with your hand, you can use a brush. To do this, it needs to be improved. Its neck is heated over the flame of a lighter or candle, and bent at a right angle with the bristles outward.

Cleaning flat combs

Dirt between the teeth of a flat comb can be washed out with a toothbrush. To do this, it doesn’t even need to be modified. It is enough to rub with a brush dipped in water and detergent, suitable for dishes.

The beauty of using an old toothbrush for such purposes is that if it gets dirty, you can simply throw it away after use. In the case of a specially purchased instrument, this would be wasteful. Used brushes can be put in a corner under the bathroom, where they can be stored for years without disturbing, but then when the need arises they will help.

Joints between tiles

A toothbrush is convenient for scrubbing the seams between tiles in the kitchen or bathroom.

After you complete the cleaning process, rinse the tiles with clean water and enjoy the effect.
