How to remove wax from a table? – ServiceYard - the comfort of your home is in your hands.

How can you remove paraffin from a candle and the stains left by it?

When a candle burns, drops of wax can fall on the surface of a table, floor, wall, or clothing. Some materials can absorb wax lipids, causing a greasy stain to remain.

Therefore, the entire cleaning process consists of two stages:

  1. Removing spark plugs.
  2. Removing grease stains.

Work begins after the wax has hardened. Large drops are carefully scraped off the surface with a hard, but not sharp, object.

After this, they move on to the second stage. Depending on the quality of the material and the dimensions of the product, different techniques are used.

Handy products for use at home

Home methods for removing wax and paraffin are simple, accessible and inexpensive. The best effects in combating stains from candle wax are:

  1. Hot steam . For this method, use a household steamer, an iron with the appropriate function, or a container of boiling water. The contaminated area is kept over steam for 10-15 minutes.

  2. Warming up. The technique is based on the use of a hairdryer or iron. The wax area is covered with paper napkins on both sides and heated from the inside with an iron or hairdryer.
  3. Hot water . If size allows, place the product under a stream of hot water so that the candle stain is at the bottom. An alternative is to immerse the stained area in a container of hot water.
  4. Talc, chalk, starch . The stain is generously covered with powder and covered with a napkin. Place a load on top and leave for 1-1.5 hours. Then the surface is cleaned with a brush.
  5. Freezing. The product is placed in a plastic bag and placed in the freezer for 1-2 hours. A bag of ice is applied to bulky objects. Then, using a plastic scraper or a rough brush, remove the hardened particles.
  6. Ammonia, gasoline . A napkin is moistened in one of the liquids and the stain is covered with it for a quarter of an hour. After this soaking, the area is additionally wiped.

To neutralize greasy wax stains, a complex composition is suitable, including purified gasoline (50 ml), ethyl alcohol (10 ml) and ammonia (35 ml).

How to remove with special compounds?

Ready-made chemical preparations are suitable for those who do not trust household cleaning methods. Modern manufacturers offer different products for wax removal:

  1. Beauty Image . The manufacturer is the Spanish company CEM.SA. It contains perchlorethylene. The product is intended for cleaning any surfaces except skin and clothing. The drug is applied to a cotton pad and wiped over the contaminated area. The price of a liter container is 1600 rubles.
  2. ItalWax . The spray is manufactured by an Italian company of the same name. The product is recommended for cleaning wooden, metal, and plastic surfaces. Difficult stains are covered with a cloth soaked in lotion for a few minutes and then wiped off with wax. Small stains can be wiped off immediately. The cost of a 500 ml bottle is about 800 rubles.
  3. Mellerud . The product from the German brand is designed to remove grease, dirt, and wax. Suitable for ceramics, stone, PVC, plastic, metal. The liquid is sprayed onto the surface and left for a while. Then wash off the solution with water. A liter bottle has a price tag of 440 rubles.

When working with chemicals, you must use rubber gloves to protect your skin.

Wax and paraffin - what's the difference?

In most cases, when people think of wax, they think of candles.
However, this is not entirely true. Candles are made from paraffin and stearin, but the wax itself is used for cosmetic and medicinal purposes. Wax can be natural or artificial. It is found in the animal and plant world and is a simple lipid. However, the molecules of the substance, unlike other fats, do not contain glycerol. The substance has low chemical activity, is insoluble in water, but dissolves well in gasoline, ether and chloroform.

Among animal waxes the following stand out:

  • bee, secreted by special glands of bees, used by them to build honeycombs;
  • wool or otherwise called lanolin, has a protective function, protects the skin and hair of animals from excessive pollution and loss of moisture;
  • spermaceti, obtained from sperm whale oil of the same name.

Plant waxes cover a small layer of leaves, fruits and stems of plants, and are included in some seeds. Their main function is to protect against moisture loss, exposure to pathogenic microorganisms, and excessive soaking with water.

A large number of plants are capable of producing so-called epicuticular wax, which can reflect ultraviolet and infrared radiation.

Reference! Jojoba oil, widely used in cosmetic products, is also a natural wax.

Fossil waxes include ozokerite.

The most well-known artificial waxes are paraffin and stearin.

  • Paraffin is a wax-like mixture made from oil. The substance melts at a temperature of 45-65 degrees, which allows it to be used in the manufacture of candles, food, and cosmetic products.
  • Stearin, in turn, is a solid substance that is greasy to the touch. Its melting point is 53-65 degrees.

Wax and paraffin are similar substances in their properties. Therefore, just as you clean dishes from wax, you should do the same with paraffin.

Properties and features of wax

Wax has its own characteristics and properties. Therefore, to learn how to remove wax from a table or any other surface, you need to familiarize yourself with them. Wax is a natural substance that is not created by humans; it mainly exists in nature.

Candles are indispensable helpers in the household.

Waxes can be of animal origin, such as beeswax or chestnut oil wax. There are also vegetable ones: apple, plum. There is also a wax-like substance - paraffin. Wax does not burn, but only gradually melts from high temperature.

Using candles requires cleaning surfaces and fabrics from any wax that gets on them.

This creates soot. That is why candles are most often made from it, which have become firmly established in the everyday life of many people. It is a very soft substance that is easy to cut even in its hard form. It is plastic and flexible.

It is not always possible to completely remove dried wax from a contaminated surface right away.

We remove the mounting foam from the floor.

Sometimes, during repairs, polyurethane foam gets onto the linoleum. To get rid of it, first of all, you need to let it dry. You shouldn’t touch it until it’s dry; it’s much more difficult to remove it this way than when it’s dried out. But when the foam has dried, you can cut it off with a knife or other sharp object, but not under the “spine”, but only the top layer, removing which you will definitely not damage your linoleum. Then soak a rag in water and apply it to the remaining foam. Give the foam time to soak. And then remove it from the floor surface.

If this does not help, then contact a hardware store. They have special products for cleaning surfaces from foam. After carrying out such actions, as always, wipe the floor clean.

Simple, step-by-step instructions for removing candle wax

To remove candle wax you will only need a few items that you probably already have in your home, such as:

  • iron;
  • clean, new washcloth;
  • paper towels.

Attention! Do not attempt to scrub or peel off the wax while it is in its hot, molten state. This can lead to burns and even more of a mess.

Step 1

Set the iron to the lowest setting and let it heat up. Be sure to turn off the steam before use.

Step 2

Place a clean cloth or new washcloth over the spilled wax.

Step 3

Place the iron, preheated to low, on top of the rag and hold it for 30 seconds.

Step 4

Repeat steps two and three until all the wax has been absorbed into the rag, which can then be discarded.

Step 5

Wipe off any remaining wax with a paper towel and enjoy your newfound cleanliness!

Hot wax removal

The hot method, in turn, is divided into several. You can remove wax using an iron, steam, boiling water and a hair dryer. Each is suitable for a specific material and scale of contamination. Therefore, everyone can choose the one that suits them and will definitely get rid of stains on any surface.

A hairdryer will help remove the wax.

Using an iron

Note! The method is applicable only for fabric that can withstand heat treatments at high temperatures.

If the soiled fabric is in the category that can be heated, then a known and effective method can be used to remove the wax. It consists in using only two “components” - an iron and paper.

Use an iron to remove wax.

Take paper (paper napkin), which is folded into several layers, 2-3 will be enough. It is placed on the wax stain. It is important to say that the method is suitable both for wax that has just spilled and for wax that has already hardened. Take a paper napkin or sheet of paper folded several times and place it under the stain.

Do not use an iron to remove colored wax stains.

If it is possible to remove the upholstery, then it is better not to be lazy and do it. Then a paper base is also applied on the second side. The iron heats up slightly at medium heat. It is necessary to carefully iron the stain, starting first with the tip and then with the entire surface.

Use the iron correctly to remove wax.

Wax is fat. It will gradually begin to melt and be absorbed into the attached paper. If the stain is large and you couldn’t remove everything the first time, you can make several more attempts to clean the surface. Each time the paper bases on both sides change.

Follow these tips to remove wax from carpet.

Steam removal

If the item is not exposed to high temperatures, then you can use the steam method. If the house has a steam generator, the task is simplified several times. With its help, you can easily remove wax stains from the surface of the table. This is done in the following way.

Wax is often removed with hot air.

A cotton napkin is placed on the wax. It should be pressed very tightly. A hot stream of steam is directed directly at her. At this time, the wax will gradually soften and be absorbed into the applied material. You can heat until all contamination is removed. Next, everything is carefully removed, and the surface is wiped with cleaning agents.

If you need to clean expensive surfaces and delicate materials, you should contact the specialists!

Well, if the house does not have such a device, you will have to use another method. You need to take a pan of water and put it to boil. As soon as the water begins to evaporate, the soiled product is placed over it. Melted wax can also be removed using paper or cotton material.

Many of us use colored candles that match our home decor.

Important! Since the method involves close contact with hot air, all safety measures must be observed.

How to remove with boiling water

It is necessary to boil the required amount of water and place the soiled product in it. But since the sofa or table cannot be placed in a pan of water, it is recommended to use the method according to the following scheme. Take a wide container and fill it with hot water.

Wax can be removed with hot water.

Carefully transfer to the room with the soiled product. Using a rag on a stick, so as not to get burned, wipe the stain with water. Immediately wipe off the melted wax from the surface. Cotton cloth or paper will help with this. There is no need to make rubbing movements; it is simply placed locally on the stain. The action is repeated until the contamination is completely removed.

Note! Working with hot water can be dangerous. It is important to always remember this and protect yourself from injury. For this, all possible methods and means are used, since hot water cannot be touched with bare hands.

To remove candle wax that drips onto carpeting, allow it to harden.

Hairdryer removal method

This hot method will again require some piece of cotton fabric. The good thing about this method is that it is suitable for both the surface of the sofa and the table. You don't have to remove the upholstery from the sofa. The stain, as in previous methods, is covered with a cloth. The hair dryer is turned on at maximum temperature.

Using a hairdryer you will quickly get rid of unwanted dirt.

A stream of hot air is directed onto the wax. It is necessary to hold it until it begins to soften and be absorbed into the cotton material. You can try to remove dirt several times in this way. The main thing is to cool the upholstery in a timely manner (if it’s a table, then everything will be cleaned much faster).

Colored wax is more difficult to remove.

How to remove traces of wax?

It is easiest to deal with fresh wax that has not yet cooled down. If you immediately wipe it with a napkin or lint cloth, it will be absorbed into it. And all that remains for you is to wipe the stained area with a damp cloth soaked in a soap solution. This will get rid of oily shine.

Once the wax has cooled down, it will be more difficult to get rid of. You will have to act in stages:

  • If the layer is large, then it can be carefully cut off with a knife, and closer to the surface - with a plastic or silicone spatula. Do this carefully so as not to leave scratches on the surface of the table.
  • The remaining thin layer can be removed by two directly opposite methods - heating or cooling.

Helpful Tips:

  • It is advisable to carry out all operations to remove traces of paraffin over old rags or newspapers, so as not to stain any other surfaces.
  • Cheap candles may contain petroleum-based wax, which is very difficult to remove. Try to purchase high quality candles and use candle holders whenever possible to make the cleaning process easier.
  • When removing paraffin, do not rub the sponge along and around the inside of the container, otherwise you will stain everything, and accordingly, your workload will increase.
  • Do not clean over a kitchen or bathroom sink. Paraffin can clog drains and drains. All remaining paraffin must be thrown into the trash.

Removing residues after depilation

After a cosmetic procedure, excess wax remains on the skin, which must be delicately removed.

If you don’t have professional lotions on hand, which are usually used by cosmetologists, you can use homemade recipes or commonly available store-bought products .

The latter include “Post-depilation wipes”. They are impregnated with oils and special substances that dissolve wax.

Any vegetable or cosmetic oil helps remove wax marks from the skin. To do this, pour a little oily substance onto a cotton pad and wipe the problem areas with it. At the same time, the skin is not only cleansed of wax particles, but also receives additional nutrition.

Another convenient remedy is a rich cream, for example, “Children’s” . They cover the area with traces of wax and leave it for a short time. Then wipe the skin with a cloth. If the plaque cannot be removed 100% the first time, the procedure is repeated.

If wax gets on fabric (clothes, sheets, towels) during depilation, it is recommended to use the dry heating method to remove it. The most suitable way is to iron the stained area through several layers of paper napkins.

This publication will tell you more about ways to remove wax from the skin of the face and body.

Other methods with heating

Any source of fire, for example, a fire, stove, burner, etc., is also suitable for removing residual substances from dishes. For cleaning you will need:

Place the container on the fire with utmost care and heat the wax. It is important to ensure that the wax does not burn, but melts. Remove the melted substance using available means, for example, paper napkins, newspapers, dry towels and other unnecessary materials.

This method is suitable for cast iron products, pots, ladles, and frying pans.

You must use special tools to place the cookware on the fire. Heat-resistant tongs and, in extreme cases, gloves are most suitable for this.

When using any methods using heating, it should be taken into account that the cookware must be resistant to high temperatures, i.e. must be made of heat-resistant materials.

To remove residual substances, you can also use ordinary soda. To do this, first remove the wax using a plastic spatula or the back of a knife, while grabbing it from the edges. Then apply a little baking soda to the sponge and rub the remaining mark. After processing, the dishes should be washed in cold water using detergent.

Important! The soda method is not suitable for metal cookware, especially if it has an enamel or non-stick coating.

You can also clean metal utensils or pots with stuck wax using vegetable oil. To do this you should:

  • Place the soiled container on the fire until the substance melts.
  • Add a little vegetable oil to the bowl and mix thoroughly.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Using paper napkins, remove the resulting substance.
  • Wash dishes in cold water using detergent.

To remove the substance, you can also use alcohol wipes, sold at any pharmacy. But they should only be used to wipe dishes that have not yet cooled down, since after the substance hardens they will be ineffective.

You can also use special products to remove depilatory compounds. They will easily help you get rid of substance residues on dishes after the waxing procedure. However, these products are quite expensive and cannot be found everywhere.

You can remove the product after waxing using a hairdryer. The substance is heated and removed using paper napkins. However, this process is quite labor-intensive and takes a lot of time to complete.

It is recommended to remove any remaining wax immediately after the procedure. The more time passes, the more difficult it will be to get rid of the remaining substances in the future.

How to remove candle residue from a table or sofa

The most common question after careless use of decorative candles is how to remove wax from them from a sofa or table. There are several methods of removal, but globally they are divided into two categories - hot and cold.

You can remove wax from your sofa yourself.

Since the properties of wax are ambiguous, it can be removed using different methods. Everyone can choose the appropriate method for themselves, based on where the contamination has ended up. Not everyone will dare to run a hot iron over a natural leather sofa or pour boiling water over the suede.

Use special equipment to remove contaminants.

Each method has its own advantages, disadvantages and features. Let's talk about them in more detail now.

How to remove using the cold method

Removal using the cold method involves, on the contrary, hardening of the wax. This method is slightly safer if the contaminated materials do not support exposure to hot critical temperatures. You can try using cold water in the same way as hot water.

Never remove hot wax from fabric.

Only the cloth will no longer be used to absorb wax, but to remove excess liquid. The fatty formation will gradually harden. After which it must be picked out or wiped off with a brush with medium bristles. If you have ice cubes in the house, you can use them too. This method is suitable for a table and or sofa made of leather.

Candle wax can be removed with ice.

Additional Information! You won’t be able to remove wax if you start rubbing it in immediately after it gets in (this applies to sofa upholstery). This will increase the affected area, and the ingested composition will be absorbed faster.

It is important to remember that some materials may not withstand exposure, so proceed with great caution.

Everyone decides for themselves which method to remove wax from the surface.

You can eliminate a stain without a trace if you act quickly and correctly, following all the recommendations. The methods listed above are also suitable for removing stains from clothes.

Fabrics with unstable colors

In this case, you should wait until the stain has completely hardened, and only then begin to remove it.

  1. Rub heavily on wax or paraffin contamination to break and crumble it.
  2. Cover the stained area with chalk or talcum powder and place a napkin and a weight on top.
  3. After an hour, or better yet several hours, we clean the stain with a brush, being careful not to damage the fabric.
  4. Using a soapy sponge and clean water, wash off the remaining absorbent (chalk, talc) and wax residues from the fabric.

How to remove wax from plastic

The most important thing when cleaning plastic panels is not to use any abrasive products, be it powders, pastes, or sponges. The plastic, no matter how durable it is, is very easy to scratch. To clean such panels from wax, it is best to use proven detergents, for example, liquid soap diluted with water.

Another option for removing wax is vinegar and water (usually the proportions are one part vinegar, two parts water), or a weak alcohol solution, or even regular vodka. You can also try to wipe off wax from plastic with regular soda.

Cold way

When frozen, the wax breaks easily, becomes plastic, after which it is easy to crumble it, and then collect the crumbs from the wax.
The cold method can be used to remove wax from carpet, fur, glass, stone surfaces, and fabrics.

To remove wax you will need:

  • Plastic bag;
  • Napkin or cotton towel;
  • Plastic or wooden spatula.

Place ice in a plastic bag to prevent the wax from getting wet, cover the surface with wax with it, and place a heavy object on top. Wait until the wax freezes and remove it from the surface with a wooden or plastic spatula.

To freeze wax, you can use the freezer, but this is only if the item on which the wax has fallen is small, or it is an item of clothing that can be easily folded.

Cleaning wax from skin in a civilized manner

  • Use special wipes to remove wax. They come in a depilation kit and are also sold separately.
  • Other specialized products that can be prudently purchased at a cosmetic store. Cosmetic oils with lavender, bergamot, orange, and vitamin E are good. They will not only get rid of stuck wax, but also soothe inflamed skin, relieve irritation, and moisturize.
  • Fat cream, lotion, spray. For example, children's. Effectively removes wax and softens irritated skin. Important: start processing the hardened wax immediately.
  • Sunflower, olive oil (almond, peach). Heat the oil in a water bath to a temperature of 30-40℃. Apply it to your body using a cotton pad. Wash off any remaining oil with soap.

Washing wax crayons

Unplanned traces of wax pencils on wallpaper will make few people happy.

You will have to work hard to get rid of the unplanned “masterpiece” on the wallpaper

  • If the wallpaper is washable, you can use rubber glue: apply a thin layer of glue to the pencil drawings, and when it dries, remove the adhesive film along with the remains of wax crayons on the wallpaper.
  • On washable wallpaper, you can wipe the patterns with a cloth soaked in mayonnaise, soda slurry, Mr Proper floor cleaner or shaving foam. Leave the product on the contaminated area for a few minutes and then wipe with a damp cloth.
  • If the wallpaper is paper, moisten the drawings with wax pencils with gasoline (it is important to ventilate the room well afterwards) or with paint remover from leather. You can also use baby wipes.

To remove crayon marks from your writing board, use baby wipes. You can also use sunflower oil or melamine sponge.

Wooden and polished furniture

  1. Remove a drop of wax/paraffin from the surface of the furniture.
  2. Melt the absorbed part of the substance with a hairdryer. Do not bring the device too close so as not to damage the furniture varnish.
  3. Blot the melted wax/paraffin with a napkin.
  4. Rub away the greasy stain with polish or another product designed for this surface.

Polished tables and cabinets are easy to clean... with an iron. Place a clean cotton cloth over the stain. Iron with a warm iron (hot iron can cause furniture varnish to crack). When all the wax/paraffin is absorbed into the rag, remove the greasy marks with a rag soaked in 9% vinegar. Then wipe dry and polish with polish.

Tips on the topic

The choice of methods and means for destroying wax and paraffin stains is quite wide. In order for their use to bring a quick and positive effect, you need to remember the nuances of cleansing:

  1. The wax stain should be removed while it is fresh. The old trace is much more difficult to eliminate.

  2. First, only the area of contamination is treated, and then the entire item is washed.
  3. Before you begin cleaning, you should test the new product on an inconspicuous area.
  4. In the case of colored wax, first remove the wax build-up, and then use a stain remover to remove the dye.

Removing wax stains from denim

Denim clothes can be washed at any temperature without fear, because this material is very resistant to damage and high temperatures. If you have a stain on your favorite jeans, then immediately begin to neutralize it. First, soak the item in very warm water for 30 minutes, then add a little more hot water and try to wash it by hand.

You can also use an automatic washing machine. The temperature must be set in the range of 50-60 degrees. This heating will be enough for the wax to come away from the denim without any problems. Unlike machine processing, when washing by hand it is much easier to determine whether the wax stains have been removed from the jeans or not. Just look at the water in which the item was soaked and washed. If you notice greasy stains on the surface, it means the contamination has left the fabric. While washing your jeans, periodically remove them from the water and inspect them. If stains are not sufficiently cleaned, they can be immersed in a soap solution again and crushed with your hands. After washing, rinse items in clean cold water.

Before using any of the wax stain removal products described above, try applying a small amount to an inconspicuous area of clothing. Wait 30-40 minutes to make sure that the fabric has not changed color or its structure has collapsed. Soak items made from delicate fabrics overnight in warm soapy water, and then wash them in the special mode that every washing machine has.

We remove wax stains from furniture and floors

Mostly hard surfaces are furniture and flooring.

  • Wax can be wiped off a tiled floor with acetone or alcohol, as well as with blotting paper and an iron, and finally, degrease the surface with alcohol.
  • You can remove stains from the laminate with sunflower oil, and then with a soap solution.
  • We scrape off the wax from plastic, including dark plastic, and then use a hairdryer.

If the furniture is wooden and the flooring is parquet, the procedure is as follows:

  1. Remove wax or paraffin with a soft rubber scraper.
  2. Use a hairdryer to melt the remaining wax.

The hairdryer will melt any remaining wax that you couldn’t scrape off.

  3. Wipe off the melted wax with paper towels.
  4. Wipe dry with light pressure with a piece of soft cloth.

After removing the wax, wipe the previously contaminated area

  5. We polish using a special product.

Wax pencils for removing scratches from plastic in the interior

In situations where you need to remove a scratch from painted plastic or the defect is very serious, it is better to abandon the idea of using polishes and gels in favor of wax pencils, which can be bought in car stores. These pencils are sold in a variety of colors, so you can choose the right one and use it to eliminate the defect.

Please note: Wax pencils are often used to paint over damaged plastic elements on the exterior of a car.

Using a pencil is extremely simple - just run it over a grease-free surface several times, and the scratch will disappear. The wax from the pencil will fill the gap in the plastic in a few seconds, and the scratch will not stand out in the car's interior.

Carefully clean your phone or TV screen

Carefully scrape off the frozen wax with a rubber scraper, then soak a soft sponge in hot water, apply precise pressure to the dirt - when the remaining wax melts, wipe the area with a paper napkin, then polish with a rag.

Rubber scrapers will gently help you remove wax from TV or computer screens.

There are many effective methods, depending on the type of contaminated surface, each of which has its own application characteristics and is aimed at the end result - cleanliness and neatness of clothes and furniture. Using “hot” and “cold”, “chemical” and “mechanical” methods, separately or in combination, will almost certainly solve the problem.

Removing wax using heat

How to remove wax from glass using heat?

  • A hairdryer will help us. Direct a hot stream of air to the problem area. As soon as the paraffin begins to melt, blot it with a napkin or rag. You need to act in this way until the stain disappears completely. After all the manipulations, all you have to do is treat this area with a swab or cotton pad soaked in solvent to get rid of oily sheen.

Important! If traces are still noticeable, you can treat the area with window cleaner.

  • To remove paraffin from a horizontal surface, for example, from a table, you can use a sponge dipped in very hot water. This allows the wax to loosen its contact with the surface, resulting in it being easily removed. You won't have to scrape it for long. You may need to make several passes.

Important! In this case, it is better to use rubber gloves to protect your hands from burns from hot water.

  • You can treat the table surface with an iron. Place a napkin or sheet of blotting paper folded several times over the stained area and iron it with a warm iron. The wax will melt and be absorbed into the sheet of paper, which must be changed as it gets dirty. After the remaining paraffin has been absorbed into the paper, wipe the area with a cotton pad soaked in solvent.

Important! Do not heat the iron very much, otherwise you risk ruining the surface being cleaned.

  • How to remove wax from glass, for example from a glass glass? Place the glass in a pan of very hot water, even boiling water. Such heat treatment will cause the wax to melt and become fluid. Allow the water to cool and the wax will begin to float as the temperature drops. As a result, it will float in the water and can be easily reached with your hands. Small residues can be removed from the glass with a rag or sponge.

Paraffin stain

When paraffin gets on clothes, furniture, carpets, it strongly sticks to them. These stubborn stains are difficult to get rid of. There are several effective ways to remove contamination. You can clean the stain with improvised means at home. The method of control will depend on the type of tissue. Before putting contaminated clothes in the washing machine, the greasy paraffin stain should be washed, taking into account the properties and color of the fabric.

Paraffin getting on clothes, furniture, carpets sticks to them strongly

There is no need to use chemicals to remove paraffin stains. It is enough to dip the stained area in boiling water, the paraffin will melt, after which the clothes should be washed in a soapy solution and rinsed well. If the item has an unstable color, then you will have to tinker a little. The stain should be cleaned only after the paraffin has completely dried.

Do not remove liquid paraffin from fabric. First you need to freeze it. The contaminated fabric should be wrapped in a bag and sent into the cold, after an hour, take it out and knead the stain with your hands or use a brush.

Now all that remains is to remove the greasy stain. The operating principle is as follows: when heated with an iron, the remaining paraffin will melt and remain on a paper napkin. This napkin should be changed as often as possible. If the stain is small, then instead of an iron you can use a heated spoon or knife. You can remove greasy stains using kerosene, white spirit, and acetone only from resistant fabrics. This method is not applicable to silk, wool, acetate.

Remove paraffin stain

Paraffin cannot be removed with any detergents - only with the help of chemical liquids or temperature exposure: hot (using an iron, boiling or steam treatment) cold (freezing with ice or in the freezer).

Hot methods can be used if a stain has formed: on white things; on products with permanent coloring; on cotton fabrics, including denim. For items made of delicate fabrics, shoes and items with traces of colored candles, use the cold removal method.

What not to do when removing a paraffin stain

Rub fresh drops of wax or paraffin, otherwise this may lead to an increase in the area of contamination and damage to the fabric structure. It is better to wait 5-10 minutes until the paraffin dries and try to remove it with a knife, spoon, coin or plastic card. Wash the product without removing dirt from the surface.

When washing or rinsing in cold water, paraffin may crumble and settle on other areas. During subsequent ironing, it will melt and leave multiple marks. Exposing items stained with a colored candle to high temperatures will cause the dye to penetrate deeper into the fibers of the fabric, making it more difficult to remove.

Use aggressive chemicals or stain removers to remove greasy traces of paraffin from delicate and synthetic fabrics. These materials should also not be cleaned using hot methods. Paraffin stains are not the type of stain that needs to be removed in a hurry. You need to give it time to cool, otherwise you can make the situation worse.
