Original and effective ways to quickly and properly dry jeans after washing

General rules

To avoid damaging your jeans during emergency drying, you need to take into account the following points:

  1. The more often pants are subjected to this treatment, the faster they will lose their attractive appearance. You should resort to extreme methods only in case of urgent need.

  2. If you wring out the product poorly, it will take a long time to dry, regardless of the conditions created.
  3. Under no circumstances should you dry jeans near open flames, much less leave them unattended. The same rule applies to electrical appliances.
  4. The pants should remain flat while drying. Otherwise, creases will form on them. You can get rid of them only by washing your jeans again.

Direct sunlight promotes rapid evaporation of moisture. However, under their influence, dark fabric fades, and white jeans can turn yellow.

Squeeze well

The easiest way to speed up the drying of jeans is to thoroughly wring out the item. It is better to proceed using a washing machine: place the product in the drum and start the spin cycle at around 1000 revolutions or more. The machine will spin up and “knock” the moisture out of the denim fibers.

There is only one “but” - some models of jeans cannot be pressed at high speeds. As a rule, manufacturers limit spinning if there are decorative elements or abrasions on the pants. It’s better not to risk it and read the label on the product before drying.

To speed up the drying of your jeans, you can spin them at 1000 rpm in the washing machine.

If automatic spinning is prohibited, then you can go the other way and spin the jeans using towels. The procedure is as follows:

  • lay a dry terry towel, diaper or sheet on the table;
  • put wet jeans on the canvas;
  • cover the denim with a second dry towel;
  • roll a roll or form a bundle;
  • wait until the outer towels get wet;
  • replace wet towels with dry ones;

  • repeat steps “5” and “6” at least 4 times.

The towels will absorb most of the water from the fibers, which will speed up the drying process. What was started is completed by hanging the jeans on the balcony, and the pants are clinging to a rope by the belt or “ankles”. It is important to protect the item from direct sunlight and turn it inside out, as ultraviolet radiation will ruin the color of the item.

Natural drying at home

The optimal drying method is natural conditions, namely:

  1. Dry room with low humidity. Most often this place is the living room. Things are dried in it during the cold season.
  2. Well ventilated, shaded place. This could be a loggia or balcony. People living in a private home can choose the backyard or other suitable location.
  3. Absence of heat sources in the immediate vicinity in the form of heating devices or fire sources.

Jeans should be hung to dry. They are secured with clothespins to the belt. They will straighten out under their own weight, eliminating the need for ironing.

Throwing jeans over a bar or rope is not recommended to avoid creases.

Natural drying is not associated with the risk of damage to the product , but it has one significant drawback - it takes a long time. The entire process may take 1-3 days. The exact time depends on the surrounding conditions.

How not to dry clothes

Improper drying of things not only threatens their damage, but can also threaten your health. To avoid unpleasant consequences, you should not:

  • dry things near an open fire on a gas burner;
  • use electric heating devices;
  • be exposed to temperatures higher than those indicated on the product label.

Having tried different methods of drying things, you can choose the optimal one for your living conditions. It will be useful to remember quick options on how to dry things using popular household appliances. These methods are not suitable for regular use, but in case of unforeseen situations they will be indispensable.

Review by Olga Gavrilovskaya:

“There is no balcony in the apartment, so I dry my laundry in the rooms. I put a floor dryer in the hallway and hang it on the radiator. I hang large things on the large one, and on the small one near the radiator I place socks and underwear. It dries quickly and there is no smell.”

How to speed up the process?

Quick drying can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. It all depends on how wet the fabric is. You can cope with the task using various devices.

A battery, an iron, a fan and even a microwave oven come to the rescue . Each method has its pros and cons that must be taken into account.

Iron

An iron is the most accessible and safe device with which you can dry wet jeans.

Instructions for its use:

  • turn the item inside out;

  • lay out the pants on an ironing board or other flat surface;
  • set the iron to the maximum temperature;
  • if the fabric sticks to the sole of the iron, then the degrees need to be reduced;
  • systematically iron the fabric, paying special attention to the belt, seams and pockets;
  • Continue ironing until the item is dry.

This method is good because it does not damage the product. Its disadvantage is that the whole process takes about an hour. During this time, you can get tired and burn a lot of electricity.

To evaporate moisture from your jeans faster, you can place a terry towel under them.

Fan or hair dryer

A hairdryer or fan heater will help you cope with the task in 20-30 minutes. These devices are used as follows:

  1. Turn the pants inside out.
  2. Lay them out on a flat surface, giving them the correct shape.
  3. Set the device to full power and the highest temperature.
  4. Direct the air flow inside the product. Then the outside of the pants is dried.
  5. You cannot bring the device too close to the thing. This can cause the fibers to ignite, causing holes and causing unpleasant odors.

To prevent the device from overheating and breaking down, it is recommended to turn it off every 5 minutes. You can continue drying only after the hair dryer has completely cooled down.

Electric dryer

Drying jeans using an electric dryer is easy. It is enough to lay the product on the strings and plug in the device.

Every 40 minutes you need to turn your pants over so that they dry evenly . The average drying time is 3-4 hours, since the device does not heat up much.

This is an effective and safe method, but its main disadvantage is that not every home has an electric dryer. The average cost of the device is about 5,000 rubles.

After drying this way, there will be no rust stains left on the jeans, but white stripes may appear. You can only get rid of them by washing them again.

Battery

A heating radiator can come to the rescue in the cold season . You can dry your jeans on it as follows:

  • lay out the pants on the radiator so that they are as even as possible;
  • after 60 minutes, turn the product over to the other side;
  • After another hour, check the condition of the item - if drying is complete, remove the jeans.

Radiators do not heat up to a fiery state, so they will not be able to burn the fabric. The product will dry evenly. The drying process itself does not require any labor from a person.

The disadvantages of this method include the fact that cast iron cutlery can leave yellow stains on the fabric. This is especially true for white jeans. You can avoid stains by covering the radiator with a clean, dry cloth. However, this will increase the drying time.

Spin in the washing machine

You can get rid of excess moisture using a washing machine.

Instructions for use:

  1. Turn the product inside out, fasten the zippers and buttons.
  2. Place the item in the washing machine drum.
  3. Turn on spin mode. The speed should not exceed 800 rpm.

After completing the cycle, the jeans need to be ironed, as they will not dry completely, but will become very wrinkled. If you have time, you can dry the product in natural conditions.

Oven

The oven allows you to cope with the task very quickly. You need to proceed as follows:

  • preheat the oven to 120 degrees;
  • open the door and hang wet jeans on it;
  • When you are nearby, you need to turn them over every 5 minutes so that the fabric does not burn and dries evenly.

This is how jeans are dried in a gas oven. If it runs on electricity, then the jeans are simply placed on a baking sheet and placed inside. The door is not closed.

You can place jeans only on a clean surface so that you don’t have to wash them again.

The main advantage of this method is its high drying speed . The fabric will dry in 30-60 minutes. However, the method is fire hazardous.

The product may begin to smolder and even ignite. Therefore, leaving it unattended is strictly prohibited. For your own safety, you should keep a container of water or a home fire extinguisher on hand.

There is no need to pack the fabric tightly. This will only delay the drying process.

Using dry towels

You can remove excess moisture using terry towels. They are used as follows:

  1. Wrap jeans in a towel.
  2. One product is placed inside each pant leg.
  3. Twist a strong, tight tourniquet. It is most convenient to work together.
  4. They unroll their pants and change the towel.
  5. Repeat the procedure several times. Most often, 4-5 approaches are required.

The advantage of this method is that it does not harm the fabric and will not damage the product. However, you won't be able to completely dry your jeans using towels. They will still remain wet. Ironing will be required to dry them completely.

To wring light-colored jeans, you need to use towels that do not fade or leave marks on them.

Microwave

Before you put your jeans in the microwave, you need to make sure there are no metal parts on them. Otherwise, the device will simply fail.

If there is no metal on the clothing, proceed as follows:

  • place jeans in the microwave;
  • turn on the “Warming up” mode;
  • dry for 30 seconds, turn the product over and repeat the cycle.

It will take about an hour of work for the moisture to completely evaporate. Therefore, this method is rarely used.

Proven methods for drying clothes quickly

To quickly dry clothes, you can use improvised means. When trying to save time, do not forget about safety precautions and the specifics of the fabric that needs to be dried.

Cautions:

  1. Do not use open fire for emergency drying;
  2. Drying clothes on electric heating appliances is unsafe. You may receive an electric shock;

The battery can only be used as a dryer with special fastenings.

  1. Read the information on the clothing label carefully. For example, silk and wool cannot be dried with an iron;
  2. Don't speed dry too often.

3 ways to use nature

When will laundry dry faster - in winter or summer? It depends on the air temperature. But using weather conditions, you can quickly dry any clothes. Details are in the table:

ImageMethods
Method 1. Sun
Hang wet clothes in direct sunlight. It will dry within an hour.
Method 2. Frost
Frosty air does a great job with wet laundry. True, after the clothes “grab” slightly, they need to be moved to a warm room.
Method 3. Wind
In a well-ventilated area, or better yet outside in windy weather, the laundry will dry in a matter of hours.

4 ways using household appliances

Modern household appliances can be used not only for their intended purpose. Many appliances do an excellent job of drying clothes. Which ones exactly?

  • washing machine;
  • heat fan;
  • hair dryer;
  • iron.
  1. In the case of a washing machine, the following instructions will help you avoid possible difficulties:

Take the washed item and put it in a pillowcase.

You can replace the pillowcase with a laundry bag.

  • To prevent clothes from falling out due to the operation of the centrifuge, tie the pillowcase tightly.
  • Load things into the drum and turn on the spin mode.
  • After 15 minutes, remove semi-dry clothes. Repeat the procedure if necessary.
  1. Another household assistant is a heat fan. The warm air generated by the device will quickly dry your jacket or pants after washing. All you need to do is turn on the fan heater at low power and hold wet clothes over the air flow with your hands.

  1. A hairdryer is the answer to the question of how to quickly dry socks, panties and handkerchiefs. This device will cope with this task in literally 5 minutes.

Place the sock on the base of the hair dryer and turn on the air.

  1. The iron will dry your clothes in a matter of seconds. The basic rule is not to turn on the maximum temperature. With its help, I have successfully dried shorts, dresses and shirts made from cotton fabrics.

Before using the iron, be sure to check the information on the clothing label. Not all fabrics can be ironed with a hot iron. For example, you will definitely ruin your clothes if:

  • silk;
  • atlas;
  • nylon;
  • organza and other flammable fabrics.

4 more emergency methods

If you need to dry clothes urgently:

  1. Oven. Preheat oven to maximum temperature. Place a chair with hanging laundry next to it. Then open the oven door. It will take from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours.

By hanging your laundry near the oven while it is on, you will speed up the drying process.

  1. Microwave. Suitable for small items only. Place the laundry on the microwave tray and turn on heating for 30 seconds.

When drying clothes in the microwave, make sure there are no metal parts on them.

  1. Electric dryer. A very convenient device, the price of which depends on the size and type of structure.

Hang the wet clothes on the electric dryer and plug it into the outlet. Clothes will dry within a few hours.

  1. Terry towel. This method is perfect if you need to dry your jeans. Wrap your wet jeans in a towel and place them under a heavy press. After a couple of minutes, check the result: the towel has absorbed water - replace it with a dry one. In 2-3 approaches you will completely dry your trousers or other item of clothing.

Important Tips

There are a few tips to consider before you start drying your jeans:

  1. You should make sure that the item is clean. This must be done so that it does not have to be washed again.

  2. The better the pants are wrung out, the faster they will dry.
  3. Wet linen absorbs odors perfectly. This must be taken into account when choosing the method and place for drying the product.
  4. If you are going to iron your pants, you should not dry them completely. Damp fabric is easier to iron.
  5. Jeans may shrink when exposed to high temperatures. Therefore, they must be handled carefully.
  6. Before processing the pants, they need to be turned inside out. This will protect the fabric from puffs, deformation and stains.
  7. You need to dry jeans on steel or plastic devices, or on ropes. They will not cause rust stains to appear on the fabric.

You can finally dry the jeans on yourself. However, you can only go outside in wet pants in warm and windless weather. Please note that due to active movements the product will stretch slightly.

Various drying methods

Jeans will dry faster when exposed to high temperatures, air currents and absorbent fabrics.

Terry towel

Prepare several terry towels - these are the fabrics that absorb water best. Spread one towel on the floor and place your jeans on it. Place another towel inside each pant leg. Now fold one pant leg over the other and roll it into a tight roll. The tighter you squeeze the fabric, the more moisture will be released from it and, accordingly, more will be absorbed into the towels. After the first twist, replace the towels with dry ones, then repeat a couple more times.

The remaining moisture will have to be evaporated with an iron or hairdryer.

Fan

Increased air circulation accelerates moisture evaporation. It is enough to place the jeans vertically and blow them with a fan for half an hour to noticeably dry the item.

It will take several hours to dry completely.

Heating device

It is very convenient to dry jeans on a hot radiator in winter. The most important rule here is to straighten your jeans after washing and place them as evenly as possible on the radiator. The fabric should dry evenly, without creases.

Turn your pant legs over periodically. Dry from the inside out, just in case, lay a piece of cotton fabric. Don't let it dry out.

As for heaters, many devices are prohibited from being covered. You will need to dry the item under constant supervision, adjust the temperature of the blades and turn the pant legs over more often.

Electric dryer

An electric dryer is similar to a regular dryer, but its elements heat up and speed up drying. If you have such a device on your household, you won’t have to bother with drying jeans and other clothes. The item will be ready in 3-4 hours.

Iron

It is better to finish drying with an iron when most of the moisture has evaporated naturally. If you iron freshly washed jeans, the process will take a long time. On average - 1-1.5 hours after spinning in the drum.

How to properly iron dry jeans:

  1. Work only from the inside out.
  2. Use a protective net, or preferably a dry cotton cloth. It will absorb moisture vapor and speed up the drying process. Change several pieces of fabric during ironing.
  3. Turn off the steam mode - there is already enough moisture on your pants.
  4. Set average temperatures; maximum temperatures will lead to irreparable deformations.
  5. When moving the iron, do not stretch the wet fabric, otherwise it will become deformed. It is better to apply the sole to different areas for a short time.
  6. Alternate areas so that the pants dry more or less evenly.
  7. Pay special attention to the lines of pockets and waistbands, where the fabric is especially dense and wet.
  8. Finally, iron the jeans from the right side (through the mesh).

Tip The more synthetic threads in jeans, the higher the likelihood of damage from a hot iron. But the faster the product will dry just on the rope.

Hairdryer

There are two ways to dry your pants with a hairdryer:

  1. Lay the trousers on a horizontal surface and alternately “blow” into each pant leg.
  2. Blow from the outside with a hairdryer, turning the jeans inside out periodically.

Use a hair dryer to dry wet stains or to dry them further. A wet product will take several hours, at least 1.5-2. Take care of your device, as it may burn out.

Microwave

You have to think of something like this - drying jeans in the microwave! This method is prohibited because of the metal parts of jeans - buttons and zippers, such elements spark under the influence of microwave waves. Use other methods to avoid microwave damage and fire.

Dryer

This drying method is not suitable for every item, but it will work for simple jeans. Place pants in the drum if they do not have decorative elements, lace or other fragile parts. Don't take risks with stretch pants: they will become deformed.

Before drying, turn your pants inside out and fasten all buttons and zippers.

A dryer will cut denim drying down to half an hour.
