  • Method using a machine

    In order for curtains to remain beautiful, they must be washed at least once a month. If it doesn’t work out that often, then at least once/3 months. Washing is just the first step. You won’t be able to bleach yellow tulle at home with regular powder in one go. Sometimes after washing the situation only gets worse. In any case, you cannot bleach dirty tulle; you will have to wash it.

    Whitening with a washing machine has many advantages:

    1. hands do not come into contact with aggressive chemicals;
    2. there is a uniform effect on the tissue;
    3. The water temperature is easily adjustable.

    If the tulle is based on delicate or synthetic fabric, the procedure is as follows:

    • pre-wash by hand, rinse thoroughly;
    • place the curtains in a bag (this can be a regular white pillowcase), load them into the drum;
    • pour or pour the bleaching agent taking into account the dosages;
    • add another rinse to the program;
    • disable the spin function or set the minimum number (for example, 400 rpm);
    • start the washing program.

    If the tulle is many years old, then you can combine 2 processes: washing and bleaching.

    First wash as usual:

    1. when the program is over, we don’t take out the curtains;
    2. pour in bleach;
    3. We start the unit again, but with an additional rinse.

    If the tulle is not heavily soiled, you just need to clean it from dust, then pour the bleach powder into the large compartment.

    When the dirt is old, you can combine the powder with bleach in the main compartment, provided, however, that this does not contradict the manufacturer’s recommendations. Mixing powder and chlorine bleach will cause the material to turn yellow and create an unpleasant odor.

    As for liquid products, you can bleach tulle with them at home by pouring them directly into the drum of the machine.

    Important! “Whiteness” must be diluted with water to avoid negative effects on the material and unit.

    If the curtains are textured, with lace, muslin, then the only option left is to do it manually. It includes a number of stages:

    • The tulle is soaked in a solution of 10 liters of water and 200 g of a mixture, which consists of approximately equal parts of soda and salt powder. Action time ─ about 3 hours.
    • They wash, change the water. Wash again.
    • Bleaching. If there is yellowness and a gray tint, soaking is done again, but using special compounds.

    And finally, rinse. Room temperature water acidified with vinegar is suitable for this.

    How to remove stains on tulle

    In addition to yellowness and grayness, stains spoil the appearance of tulle. These could be prints that were just left behind, or marks with history.

    Remember that “fresh” greasy stains come off much easier, so if you notice them, take action right away.

    To choose the right powder and bleach, consider the manufacturer's recommendations for fabric care. The label usually indicates at what temperature the tulle should be washed and the possibility of bleaching with chemicals.

    What will help:

    • Soda and laundry soap. It turns out that these two components complement each other perfectly not only in the fight against yellow plaque, but also as a stain remover. The fabric is soaked in water with the addition of soda, and then washed with laundry soap.
    • Dishwashing liquid. This is quite logical; what other product will cope better with fresh greasy stains than the beloved “Fairy” or its “relatives”.
    • Lemon and soda. The algorithm of actions is extremely simple: you need to pour freshly squeezed lemon juice onto the stain, and then sprinkle with soda. Wait a little and then wash as usual.
    • Chalk. It turns out that thanks to ordinary chalk, it becomes possible to get rid of greasy stains. The chalk needs to be crushed, poured onto the stain, wait until it absorbs the grease, shake it off and pour a new portion of chalk. Continue the procedure until the stain disappears.

    There are many folk remedies that will help get rid of gray or yellowness on curtains.
    If you have to deal with an old greasy stain, then simply soak the tulle in water with the addition of hydrogen peroxide.

    Another remedy for greasy stains that are not the first freshness is a mixture of ammonia, vinegar and salt. The ingredients are mixed in a ratio of 4:4:1, add water and soak the tulle for 15 minutes. After this, wash in the usual way.

    Soak the tulle for a couple of hours in warm (no more than 30-40 degrees) water with a small amount of detergent.
