Environmentally friendly products and systems

Recently, more and more houses are found that use a septic sewer system. The term “septic tank” is an abbreviated name for a sanitary autonomous sewage system. The purpose of a septic system is to treat wastewater as well as household water in order to return the treated liquid back into the groundwater.

Many proponents and environmentalists avoid using super-caustic bathroom cleaners that contain a lot of chemicals, as well as soaps and gels that are antibacterial, in order to retain all the bacteria needed to clean the system without disturbing the environment. This is where the use of the proposed tablets for cleaning bathrooms and toilets will be indispensable. It is recommended that everyone try them.

However, there are many options for different products for personal hygiene and cleaning of premises, bathrooms, and so on, which do not harm, but are natural and environmentally friendly. In particular, this applies to hand and dishwashing products.

For example, you can use natural cosmetics and try liquid or regular castile soap made from vegetable fats. It improves skin tone and softens it. In addition to beneficial acids, soap contains vitamins and antioxidants, which are found not only in olive oil, but also in additives such as Angolan bark, oats, and marula oil.

Regular mustard is perfect for washing dishes. You can use either dry powder or regular classic mustard. This product is absolutely harmless and environmentally friendly. Mustard perfectly disinfects, degreases, and also perfectly cleans dishes without damaging their surfaces.

Disinfectant toilet bombs

If you don't trust modern aerosol air fresheners, try replacing them with natural fragrances. Today we will tell you how to make them yourself, so that you can then use them not only for refreshment, but also to disinfect the toilet.

In this article you will find three very easy-to-follow recipes that you can easily repeat. Well, the result will certainly please you.

Baking soda and citric acid are cheaper to buy in bulk, packaged in larger quantities than usual. You can use absolutely any essential oils. You can also create a combination of oils that suit your scent specifically for you, for example, you can take tea tree oil and several citrus essential oils - lemon, lime, orange and grapefruit.

The quantities listed in this recipe will make approximately 24 tablets, provided you make them in muffin tins. It's actually really convenient to use a mini muffin tin because you get the right size tablet for one time use. This tablet size is also ideal to be stored in an egg tray.

DIY tablet for hanging block

To make a tablet you will need:

  • 6 tbsp. l. washing powder (it is advisable to take one that is machine washable, not hand washable);
  • 1 tbsp. l. dishwashing gel;
  • 2 tbsp. l. menthol toothpaste.

Typically, deo block tablets turn the water blue or another color. And if you want your homemade remedy to do this too, you can add a pinch of food coloring to the mixture

.

Tools for work you need to prepare:

  • spoon or silicone spatula;
  • plastic or glass container;
  • rubber gloves;
  • paper towel;
  • an airtight container (a jar with a tight lid or container).

Pour washing powder into the container, add toothpaste, mix thoroughly with a spatula. Dishwashing gel is gradually added to the resulting mass, stirring vigorously each time. The result should be a thick mass that sticks to the spatula. If the dish soap was too thin and the mixture came out watery, you need to mix in a small amount of powder.

Tablets are made from the paste.

The mass should be dense enough so that it can hold its shape and not fall apart.

To do this, put gloves on your hands, take the required amount of product and give it the desired shape.

The shape of the tablet should be such that it fits inside the hanging block.

The resulting blocks are laid out on a paper towel and left for several hours to harden.

After the tablets have dried, they are placed in an airtight storage container.

Making tablets

In a large bowl, mix all ingredients. If the mixture turns out to be very dry, then moisten it with water from a spray bottle just a little, there is no need to wet the mixture completely.

Take a muffin pan. You can put parchment paper or plastic wrap on the bottom of the molds so that you can easily remove the finished tablets later.

Now you need to fill the muffin molds with the mixture you prepared. The molds should be filled very tightly, practically tamping the mixture. You can make the cupcakes with a flat top or a round top.

A budget analogue of a tablet for a cistern

Regular tablets for the tank run out quite quickly, but there is a budget product that lasts for a whole month. All you need is regular toothpaste and a needle. You can take the cheapest pasta, as long as it has mint flavor.

The paste contains antibacterial additives that will cope with dirt, and menthol will fill the room with a pleasant aroma.

Using a needle, the tube is pierced from all sides.

The more holes there are in the tube, the more paste will get into the water in the tank.

Open the lid of the drain tank and place the tube there.

The punctured tube is placed inside the tank, as far as possible from the hole through which water enters, otherwise the paste is washed out much faster.

Close the lid. Ready. Now, with each addition of water into the tank, the jets will gradually wash out the toothpaste. When flushed, water with a minty smell will flow into the toilet bowl, eliminating unpleasant odors and dirt.

This is not to say that this product will completely eliminate the need to clean your plumbing, but you will have to do it much less often.

.

Mode of application

The prepared tablets contain enough citric acid to stay afloat and not sink while the acid fizzes. Thanks to this factor, the toilet bowl is cleaned. Throw a tablet in the toilet and let it do most of the work for you. How often to use the tablets and how much at a time is a personal factor and depends on your situation.

Types of toilet cleaners

In addition to the standard gel-like products that are used to clean the toilet, manufacturers of household chemicals offer others that clean plumbing fixtures after each use. These include:

  • Hanging blocks
    , inside which a cleaning agent is placed in the form of a tablet or container with gel. They are attached to the rim of the toilet. After pressing the drain button, streams of water penetrate into the unit through the holes located on the body, and the soap solution flows down the walls of the bowl, removing dirt. Such products include antibacterial additives, components that destroy rust and limescale, and flavorings.
  • Pills
    . They are placed inside the drain tank. They slowly dissolve in water, and when flushed, the cleaning solution ends up in the toilet. The principle of operation and composition are similar to those used in suspended blocks.

Such products are classified as auxiliary - they maintain cleanliness and scent the air, but are not able to completely replace regular cleaning.

Let's sum it up

Sometimes, indeed, everything ingenious is simple. Knowing how to make toilet bombs yourself, you can effortlessly achieve cleanliness and a pleasant smell in the bathroom and significantly save your family budget. And the process of preparing them looks very positive and allows you to show your creativity. But most importantly, the growing trend towards the use of natural ingredients has a beneficial effect on human well-being.

How to make toilet bombs with your own hands

The recipe for making bombs is quite simple, and all the necessary ingredients are usually available at home.
If not, then you can buy them in almost any store and pharmacy. The costs will be minimal, and the effect will exceed expectations. Essential oils used in the production of “fizzy drinks” are an excellent flavoring agent and have a positive effect on health, having an antibacterial and tonic effect. Most often, lavender, lemon, mint, eucalyptus, tea tree, rosemary, and fir oils are used for this purpose. They are quite persistent, that is, they can retain the aroma for a long time. But you can use any other essential oil that you like and does not cause allergies.

Recipe No. 1

Ingredients: baking soda - 1 heaped glass, citric acid - 0.5 cups, essential oils - 90 drops (you can take 3 of any kind, 30 drops each), water - by eye.

Additionally you will need: a spray bottle, a measuring spoon, ice molds (for soap or children's molds).

Preparation:

  1. Mix citric acid and baking soda in a bowl. Then add essential oils and mix everything thoroughly.
  2. Pour water into the spray bottle.
  3. Very carefully add water to the composition from a spray bottle so that the citric acid does not react with the soda and the mixture does not turn out to be very liquid. Inject the liquid a little at a time, constantly stirring the resulting mass. The finished mixture should resemble wet sand in consistency, and after squeezing it in your hand you should get a lump.
  4. Place the mixture in special molds, compacting it tightly. Leave the bombs to dry away from a heat source for 6 hours.
  5. Carefully remove them from the molds and place them in a glass bowl or plastic container for storage.

Test the resulting fresheners. Just throw a bomb into the toilet: it will begin to “hiss”, corrode the existing plaque and emit a pleasant aroma. You can put the bomb in the drain tank and after it has completely dissolved there, drain the water.

Recipe No. 2

  2. In a separate bowl, mix vinegar with peroxide.
  3. Add the mixture of peroxide and vinegar drop by drop into the bowl with the dry mass, stirring constantly.
  4. Add essential oils and mix again.
  5. Place the resulting mixture into molds or use a measuring spoon to form bombs and place them on a sheet of parchment. Leave to dry for 4-6 hours.
