Atlant washing machine errors: fault codes

Decoding error codes for Atlant washing machines

When deciphering the data displayed on the screen of the Atlant washing machine, it is worth understanding that the self-diagnosis system does not check a specific part, but the entire link to which it belongs. So, for example, if a technician displays a message about a pump malfunction, this does not mean that this particular element is broken. The problem may be clogged hoses, broken pressure switch, broken contacts, etc.

Some Atlant washing machines do not have a display. In this case, the equipment reports a malfunction by flashing LEDs on the control panel.

Depending on the breakdown, the following SMA Atlant error codes may appear on the Atlant equipment display:

Door

Door or flashing 1, 3 and 4 LEDs. This message indicates that the washing machine door is not closed tightly. The cause of the breakdown may be a malfunction of the locking lock, damaged wiring from the UBL to the central board, broken contacts, incorrect installation of the Atlant washing machine, skewed hinges, a defective latch or guide. To fix the problem, you need to make sure that the device is installed correctly, level and on a flat surface. Next, you should tighten the door hinges, use a multimeter to diagnose the UBL and wiring, and also inspect the handle. Damaged parts must be replaced.

Sel

If the message “Sel” appears on the display or absolutely all indicators go out, this means that problems have arisen in the control panel. Parts may be worn out due to long-term use, and the buttons may be pressed or stuck due to the ingress of detergents and stop responding to pressing. It is necessary to check the serviceability of the buttons and program switch; if everything is in order with them, you need to diagnose the control board.

None

If the screen shows “None” or all indicators light up at once, this indicates an excess of foam in the tank. The problem may be the wrong choice or a large amount of detergent, as well as an incorrectly set mode. It is necessary to choose a powder for automatic washing machines, add it in smaller quantities, and also use other washing programs.

F2

This message or the blinking of the third indicator indicates that the temperature sensor is not functioning. Perhaps the device itself is broken, the integrity of the contacts or wiring is damaged, or the control unit is faulty. It is necessary to check and, if necessary, install a new sensor, inspect and repair contacts and wiring, or diagnose the control board.

F3

Flashing of the third and fourth indicators or error code F3 indicates a breakdown of the heating element. Possible broken contacts, malfunction of the heating element, thermistor, or significant scale deposits on the heating element. It is necessary to check and ring the heating element and contacts, diagnose the thermistor, and remove scale from the heating element. Damaged parts should be replaced.

F4

Error code F4 or the blinking of the second indicator indicate that water is not draining or is draining very slowly. This indicates a blockage in the drain system or problems with the pump. You need to inspect and remove dirt and debris from the drain filter, hose, and pump. Next, you need to ring the pump and its contacts, check for damage and replace if necessary.

F5

The appearance of error code F5 on the machine screen or the blinking of the second and fourth LEDs indicate problems with the water fill hose. This symptom indicates a blockage in the water inlet system or a broken inlet valve. It is necessary to remove debris in the inlet hose, inspect the filter mesh installed behind it, and clean the valve hoses. Next, you need to diagnose the valve and change it if necessary.

F6

Error F6 or blinking of the second and third indicators indicates a malfunction in the operation of the reverse relay. Possible problems: the relay does not work or the contacts are damaged, the motor of the Atlant washing machine is faulty. To eliminate the breakdown, you need to check all components and replace the broken one.

F7

Error F7 on the machine screen or flashing second, third and fourth indicators indicate problems with the electrical network. This indicates a voltage problem or a faulty noise filter. The faulty unit must be replaced; if there are problems with the electrical network, call an electrician to fix them.

F8

Error F8 and the blinking of the first indicator indicate that there is a large amount of liquid left in the tank. The cause of the problem may be a broken pressure switch, control board, or jammed water inlet valve. It is necessary to inspect the water level sensor, carry out diagnostics, and blow out the tubes. If the valve is stuck, replace the part. In case of problems with the control unit, you need to install a new one.

F9

The flashing first and fourth indicators or error code F9 on the machine screen notify that the engine speed measurement sensor is broken. There may also be a malfunction in the motor itself or a problem with the wiring or contacts. It is necessary to diagnose the components and replace damaged ones. You should also ring the contacts, check the wires and restore them if problems are detected.

F10

Error F10 and the first and third LEDs flashing indicate that the electronic door lock is faulty. The Atlant washing machine will not work until the hatch is blocked. To eliminate the breakdown, you need to check the UBL and contacts and replace the broken element.

F12

Code F12 or blinking indicators from the first to third indicate a problem with the motor of the Atlant washing machine. The motor itself or a burnt-out control triac on the central board may be faulty. It is necessary to repair the motor and perform diagnostics of the control unit and subsequent restoration.

F13

This code or the blinking of the first, second and fourth LEDs indicate a breakdown of the control board or damage to its circuits. This can happen if liquid gets in or there is a short circuit. It is necessary to inspect and repair the faulty part or restore the chain links.

F14

The first and second indicators or error code F14 on the machine screen indicate a software failure. It is necessary to replace the control module or perform flashing.

F15

This code notifies that a leak has been detected in the Atlant washing machine. This can happen due to wear of the cuff, leakage of the hoses at the joints, or leakage of the tank. It is necessary to find the problem area and fix the damage.

Reasons for appearance

Error F12 on the Atlant washing machine indicates that there are problems with the engine. Some people think that the motor has completely failed, but this is not the case. Various parts related to the engine could break. The wiring, winding or carbon brushes of the electric motor could have failed.

The appearance of error F12 on Atlant washing equipment appears not only due to a breakdown in the engine, the problem may be in the modular control. If some kind of breakdown occurs in the element that is responsible for the motor, then, naturally, the washing will not start. If the washing machine does not have a screen, then error F12 manifests itself in the blinking of the first and second indicators.

Do I need to repair the electronic module myself?

Do I need to repair the electronic module of the Atlant machine myself or is it better to entrust it to a professional? It all depends on how well a person understands electronics and whether he can understand microcircuits. The main task when repairing an electronic module and eliminating error F12 is to find a breakdown in the modular control. It is necessary to check every detail to find a burnt element or a broken path and then fix the problem. Most likely, you won’t be able to repair the board yourself, even if you have a little experience in this.

It is possible to replace the electronics in a modern washing machine, but it most likely will not bring any results. Moreover, if there was no high-quality diagnostics, the electronic board may burn out again.

It happens that a person removes the entire control unit and gives it to a specialist so that he can test and find the cause of the F12 error. But masters do not recommend doing such actions. We need a professional to come home, call and check the control unit. This makes it possible to find the exact cause of the F12 error.

Repairing the electronic module of Atlant washing equipment should not be trusted to ordinary specialists. You just need to look for a professional in this matter. Still, it’s not worthwhile to independently eliminate the cause of the breakdown that caused the F12 error. This is a difficult job and if you start repairs without understanding it, you can only worsen the situation. If the diagnosis is carried out incorrectly, this can lead not only to a complete breakdown of the control module of the Atlant washing equipment. The heating element, the drain pump, the engine of the Atlant machine, or all together may also break down. Therefore, before undertaking such complex repairs, you need to think about it. If you make even the slightest mistake, it will lead to a complete breakdown of the Atlant washing machine.

Washing machine won't turn on

If the display does not light up when you press the power button, make sure the power cord is plugged in and there is electricity in the house. If the problem is in the washing machine itself, then the troubleshooting options and methods for eliminating them are as follows:

  • Plug fault. Disassemble the plug and check the contact connections.
  • Broken power cord. You need to ring the cord.
  • There is a fault in the electrical wiring in the car. Remove the outer panel of the unit and check the condition of the terminal clamps, they may be oxidized.

If the display of the machine automatically reacts to turning on, the washing program is selected, and the machine does not work, the reason is as follows:

  • Wrong washing mode selected.
  • The door is not closed tightly enough. Check the integrity of the door seal and whether the item being washed has gotten between the door and the body.
  • Water is not flowing into the machine due to the water supply taps being closed.
  • The timer is faulty. In this case, the washing mode of the selected program does not start due to a broken time relay. To check, turn the program switch until the drum begins to rotate. If this happens, it means that the timer is faulty and requires replacement.

Error F3 in Atlant cars without a display

If your Atlant does not have a screen, then it will report a problem using two signal indicators:

  • in SoftControl models , these are lights near the “Spin” and “Water Hold” LEDs;
  • in the OptimaControl series - “Water Stop” and “Rinse” LEDs.

Washing machine drum fills with water too slowly

Standard reasons why water fills slowly into the washing machine:

  • The inlet hose is clogged or deformed. In this case, rinse the hose under water pressure.
  • The inlet filter is clogged. Remove and wash the filter.
  • The water pressure in the system is not high enough. Make sure the water supply valve is fully open. If yes, then there is insufficient water pressure in the line. It needs to be raised. For example, install a pressure tank under the ceiling of an apartment, or in the attic of a house. The minimum required pressure is 12 atm.

Frequent breakdowns and how to fix them

To reset error F12 and solve the problem, let's test the main parts of the engine.

What to do to identify the causes of the malfunction:

  1. Connect the stator and rotor windings. Connect a device with a voltage of 220 Volts to their connectors. The motor should rotate. If the brushes malfunction, you will notice how they spark.
  2. When starting up, you can hear the engine making a lot of noise, getting hot, and not running at full power. There is probably a break in the stator and rotor windings. The multimeter is connected to the winding lamellas, as shown in the photo.

  3. Resistance can change by no more than 0.5 ohms. In another case, a short circuit could occur - a visual inspection will help determine it. You will see burnt areas and smell an unpleasant odor.
  4. Measure the resistance of the stator winding by applying probes alternately to the housing and terminals, as in the photo.

  5. Normal resistance will be very high.

If there is a malfunction, you will have to completely replace the motor. After installing the new element, error code F12 should no longer appear on the Atlant washing machine display.

Brush wear

The brushes are located on both sides of the engine; with prolonged use, they wear out and wear out. How to solve a problem:

  • Disconnect the wires from the brushes.
  • Unscrew the fixing screws.
  • Remove the brushes and inspect them for wear.

If you need to replace brushes for your Atlant washing machine, be sure to select them according to the type of motor.

Install in reverse order.

Slat problems

Remove the rotor and inspect the manifold. Due to high voltage, the lamella can peel off, causing it to lose connection with the rotor winding. There is a possibility of a break or damage to the wire that connects the lamella to the rotor.

To sharpen the lamella connectors and eliminate error F12, use a lathe. There should be no burrs on the surface, and the connectors should be thoroughly cleaned.

How thoroughly should the gaps be cleaned? Attach ohmmeter probes to the lamellas: if a short circuit is displayed, it means that the area still needs to be worked on.

Error F8 - when you can fix it yourself

Before calling a specialist, check:

  • Quality and dosage of detergent . When using unsuitable or low-quality detergents, as well as when exceeding the recommended amount of powder, a lot of foam forms in the machine, the water level sensor detects an overflow, and error F 8 is displayed.
  • The nature of the items that caused the error to appear during washing. Porous and voluminous items - tulle, down jackets, winter overalls - create more foam than regular underwear. Due to excessive foaming, the water level sensor will detect an overflow, and the machine will write error F8.

If you do not see signs of abundant foam, but Atlant still reports a problem, try rebooting the control module . It may be a one-time glitch. To do this, disconnect the SMA from the power supply for 10-15 minutes, and then turn it on again.
