You habitually put the laundry in the drum and started the wash, and after a while you discovered that the Samsung washing machine does not wash and displays the code H1 / H2 / HE1 / E5 / E6 / HE2 on the display. As a rule, the error appears 10 - 15 minutes after switching on, but sometimes the code appears a few seconds after starting the program. Moreover, on washing programs in cold water (at 30°C), the machine can work quite properly and fulfill its purpose.

Very rarely, with this error, a Samsung washing machine may boil water.

Attention! Do not confuse this error with the message on the display 2H - this is a message about the amount of time remaining until the end of the wash. And also with errors 5E (drain error) and 6E (switch on error).

In Samsung models without a screen, when this error occurs, all mode indicators blink and the temperature indicators 60°C and 40°C or 60°C and Cold water light up.

Error interpretation

All codes starting with “H” - H1, H2, HE, HE1, HE2 mean that there is a problem with water heating: it is not there or, on the contrary, it is excessive. This is why a Samsung washing machine can function normally in cold water washing modes, but an error appears in heated programs.

Note! Codes E5, E6 typical for older models of Samsung washing machines manufactured before 2007

Heating errors also have their own classification. Error code HI/HEI is issued if:

  • dynamics of increase in water temperature after turning on the heating - more than 40°C for 2 minutes;
  • the water temperature becomes higher than 95°C for any reason;

and thus signals that the Samsung washing machine is overheating or boiling water.

Error H 2 / HE 2 is issued if:

  • When heated, the water temperature increases by less than 2°C in 10 minutes;

and thus reports the absence of heating.

Unfortunately, this code most often indicates a malfunction. Only in rare cases can you correct an error on your own.

Main types of errors

Troubleshooting yourself is a great opportunity to save money in your own budget. If someone tells you that the washing machine is very complicated and you can’t repair it yourself, immediately run away from this person, he is incompetent in matters of repair. In most cases, you can fix a broken washing machine yourself, since the most complex component here is the control module. Everything else is nothing complicated.

The H1 error code that appears on the display indicates that some kind of error has occurred in the water heating system. But this would be too vague an interpretation of the malfunction, so several separate codes were provided:

  • H1 on a Samsung washing machine means the temperature rises too quickly or exceeds its limits. If in two minutes the water has heated up by more than 40 degrees or the temperature has approached the boiling point, the display shows the code H1 (or He1);
  • Error H2 in a Samsung washing machine (or He2) indicates heating for too long. If within 10 minutes from the time the heating element was turned on, the water warmed up by less than 2 degrees, this indicates a breakdown of the heating element.

Error He2 on a Samsung washing machine most often indicates a break in the heating element or a lack of power supply - you will have to figure this out yourself, since you will not receive more accurate information from the diagnostic system. As for the He1 (or h1) code, it appears during intense heating - this happens when the heating element breaks down, when its internal resistance drops and obvious overheating is observed.

The appearance of scale on heating elements is due to the presence of many impurities in the water that settle on the heating element. To avoid this, you can install a filter on the water entering the house.

Errors H2, HE2, H1, HE1, E5, E6 - in which cases you can fix it yourself

  • Check the machine's electrical connection. Is the washing machine plug or cord damaged? Make sure that the connection is made directly into a separate outlet and not through an extension cord or adapter.
  • If the error appears for the first time, try disconnecting the machine from the power supply for 10 minutes and then turning it on again. There may be a software failure in the “brains” of the washing machine, and a reboot will solve the problem.
  • Check the connections of the wire loops from the heating element to the control module, especially if the washing machine was disassembled before the error appeared. Perhaps the contacts have come loose and need to be connected more tightly.

If these recommendations did not help get rid of the error H 1 / H 2 / HE 1 / HE 2 / E 5 / E 6 in the Samsung washing machine, then, unfortunately, you cannot do without professional repairs.

H2 and 2H - is there a difference?

Users often confuse error code h2 with information message 2h. In fact, they are not the same thing. If in the first case this is a serious malfunction, then in the second case it is just a display of the remaining program time. The English letter h means hours, respectively 2h - two hours.

It is important that when error code h2 appears, the machine may stop working altogether and washing will not start. Although in some models of washing machines, the washing process takes place in cold water. This is easy to understand, if you touch the glass of the door with your hand, when heating the water, it should be warm. As for message 2h, the machine behaves as expected, no failures occur.

Replacing the heating element and temperature sensor

The heating element in a Samsung washing machine is pulled out through the front wall. This complicates the process of replacing parts; you will have to disassemble almost the entire body of the machine. Before that, prepare a couple of screwdrivers and a multimeter. Next, follow the algorithm:

  1. remove the powder receptacle from the machine and unscrew the drainage filter;
  2. unscrew the top cover and temporarily remove it to the side;
  3. unscrew the screws that hold the front panel of the washing machine and carefully remove it and place it on top of the machine so that it does not interfere;
  4. Using a flat screwdriver, remove the bottom plastic panel;
  5. now you need to insert the rubber cuff into the drum, first removing the metal clamp on the cuff;
  6. We find screws along the perimeter of the front part of the case and unscrew them;
  7. remove the panel;

  8. Below under the tank, next to the counterweight, we find the contacts of the heating element, using a multimeter we measure the resistance to make sure that the part has burned out;

    ! A working heating element has a resistance of 25-30 Ohms, a burnt one will display 0 or 1 on the display.

  9. Now we disconnect the contacts from the heater and unscrew the central bolt;

  10. Using shaking movements, we try to remove the heating element; if the part does not give in, spray the base with WD-40 and leave for a few minutes;
  11. Before installing a new part, clean the seat from debris and foreign small objects;
  12. Having installed the heating element, you can assemble the machine by performing the steps in reverse order.

If the reason for the error is not the heating element, but the temperature sensor, then to replace it you will have to do no less work. After all, the temperature sensor is located at the base of the heater, on some models next to the heating element, in the tank body, as you see in the photo below.

Change this part and reassemble the machine. Check the functionality after the repair has been completed.

Repair of wiring and control module

The most common cause of lack of heating is electrical or electronics. To fix such a malfunction yourself, you need to have skills in this area. Otherwise, you can finally send the electronic module to the landfill. The fact is that in some cases the board can be repaired; it is enough to re-solder some burnt-out elements and tracks.

! It is also important that when completely replacing the control module, it may be necessary to install software, which is very difficult to do on your own.

However, identifying these elements is not so easy. Therefore, most often with such a problem they turn to a specialist, it will be cheaper, and if the money is too much, then you will definitely save your nerves.

As for the wiring, this is somewhat easier to deal with if you know how to work with a multimeter. You will have to ring all the wires going from the control board to the heater one by one, and then replace the broken wire.

So, the appearance of h2 errors on the display of a Samsung washing machine gives rise to serious problems, the solution of which in most cases is trusted to the experts. If you are determined to do everything yourself, we do not discourage you, but wish you good luck!

How to diagnose a breakdown and fix it

Let's see what to do if the Samsung washing machine gives an error He1 or He2 (as well as H1 or H2). First, let's look at the codes with the number 1. If the temperature rises too quickly, this means that the heating element is operating in overload mode. An electrical breakdown on the body is also possible, due to which the water begins to heat up as a result of a reaction from the flow of alternating current. In any case, you need to disassemble the Samsung washing machine and look for the problem.

Error H2 in the Samsung washing machine program means no heating. This code appears after starting the wash, when voltage is applied to the heating element. At the same time, temperature control is carried out. If the temperature remains virtually unchanged within 10 minutes, the display shows the above error. In most cases, this means a breakdown of the heating element, or rather, a break. Let's figure out how to diagnose and repair a Samsung washing machine.
