Where to fill the air conditioner in the washing machine and how to do it correctly?

Where is the rinse aid compartment usually located?

Each front-loading washing machine, for example, from Bosch, is equipped with a retractable tray for detergents with three compartments, and they differ in shape, size and even location relative to each other. Their purpose is as follows:

  • compartment for adding bleach and powders intended for soaking laundry. It is small and is usually designated by the letter A or the Roman numeral I;
  • compartment for powder used for the main wash. This compartment is designated by the letter B or number II. It is the largest and is used constantly, since washing powder is poured into it in any mode;
  • air conditioning compartment. This is the narrowest compartment, since the rinse aid is a concentrated product and you need to pour only a little, literally a third of the cap. The fact that this is a compartment for fabric softener can be determined by the image in the form of a flower next to it - in models from this compartment is always designated this way. It may have a blue color, or it may be simply white. This compartment can also be equipped with a removable tray, but this option is not present in models from every company.

It is worth noting that the flower is not the only icon to designate the compartment intended for the air conditioner in the washing machine. In Lg models, this compartment may be marked with an asterisk.

When the optional assembly of a particular model does not provide a third compartment dedicated to conditioner, it can be poured directly into the drum, but only after the main wash cycle has completed.

To do this, you need to select the no-rinse mode, open the door at the end of the wash and send a cap with a small amount of conditioner to the laundry.

It is not recommended to pour it directly onto wet things - stains and streaks may remain on the clothes.

Among the models of washing machines, there are some that, when you first get acquainted with them, you can easily get confused in deciding where to pour the air conditioner. Here are some of them:

  1. On the ELECTROLUX EWW51486HW model, the rinse aid compartment is the far right compartment in the chemical tray. It looks unusual, since you need to pour the product through the hole covering the lid compartment.
  2. Top-loading washing machines can also be confusing, and the Bosch WOT24455O model can cause confusion, since the detergent container is located right on the lid, and the fabric softener compartment is in the middle.
  3. The machines are equipped with a tray in which the conditioner compartment is located on the right, while the product is poured into a small hole in the middle of it.
  4. Samsungecobubble is also capable of surprising the average person with an unusual type of container for detergents. It has only two compartments, the right one is blue and is divided into two additional compartments. The compartment that is closer when opening the tray is designed to fill in the rinse aid.
  5. Some top-loading models have four compartments in a container located under the lid. The one on the right is for rinse aid.
  6. Siemens washing machines are very practical in this regard, since the compartments for air conditioner and bleach are covered with lids. At the same time, the compartments on top are marked with a flower and a bottle, respectively.

If you follow basic logic, it will not be difficult to determine which container to pour the conditioner into.

It is worth noting that each washing machine model has a maximum permissible level of liquid rinse aid.

Upon completion of washing, the tray must be removed and washed so that the holes through which powders and liquids are supplied are not clogged with their residues.

That's all the recommendations on where to pour the rinse aid when washing.

It is difficult to confuse the compartments in the tray, even if there are no markings - they all have different sizes - just remember that the smallest compartment is intended for the air conditioner.

There is no need to be afraid that the product will get into the laundry at the very beginning of the wash - a working washing machine uses the conditioner as intended and on time. The rinse aid compartment will not empty until the main wash cycle has finished.

Whether to use air conditioner for a washing machine or not is everyone’s choice. There are special liquids for wool and delicate fabrics, there are hypoallergenic rinses for children's laundry, and there are also concentrates. In any case, it doesn’t hurt to know where to add fabric softener, because you need to be on familiar terms with your home appliances.

Do-it-yourself mouthwash: use 5 available products

Despite the availability of products and a large selection, some housewives are looking for something to replace fabric softener with. Some want to save money, others want to protect their loved ones from the harmful effects of synthetic components. We offer five home methods that help soften and dielectricize fabric using improvised means.

  1. Vinegar. A household softener known to housewives is added directly to the rinse aid compartment in the car. For one wash, 150-200 ml of vinegar is enough.
  2. Soda. Add 50 g of baking soda pre-diluted in water when washing automatically or manually. Soda softens water and whitens clothes.
  3. Salt. Dissolve three tablespoons of salt in a glass of water. Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil.
  4. Hair balm. Mix 500 ml of water with 250 ml of vinegar and 150 ml of balm. Mix into a homogeneous mass. You can also grind five tablespoons of sea salt with three tablespoons of balm to make a paste.
  5. Mixture. Prepare a glass of soda and 9% vinegar. Pour half a liter of boiling water into a deep container. Dissolve baking soda in water, pour in vinegar. For aroma, it is recommended to add a few drops of essential oil. Pour the mixture into a bottle. Use 50 ml when washing.

It is recommended to prepare a gel paste from soap shavings (50 g), soda ash (50 g), glycerin (three tablespoons), borax (one tablespoon) and essential oil (three drops). Soda and soap are dissolved in boiling water, glycerin is added and mixed thoroughly. When the solution has cooled, add borax and oil.

Using fabric softener does not cause difficulties for modern housewives. The choice of a suitable rinse aid is up to customers. If you are intolerant to odor, it is better to use fragrance-free products or use self-prepared mixtures. Only by strictly following the instructions and dosages can you get soft clothes without any conditioner residues in the fabric.

Where is the air conditioner compartment located in the washing machine?

The location of the trays differs for different models of washing devices. In most cases, the detergent tray has three compartments of varying widths. They are marked with Roman or Arabic numerals, alphabetic or symbolic designations:

  1. The compartment marked 1, I or A is intended for storing detergent for pre-washing or soaking. If you select a program that does not provide this mode, then this section remains empty.
  2. The letter B, numbers II or 2 mark the widest compartment where washing powder is poured for the main wash.
  3. The compartment with the image of a flower or star is used for conditioner. It is usually designed so that liquid does not spill during washing. In some models it is made of plastic of a different color. Sometimes it can be removed separately from the other compartments and washed.

There are several models of washing machines where the compartment is located or looks non-standard:

  1. In the Samsung eco bubble wf602 washing machine, you need to pour the rinse aid into the right compartment in the form of a small square hole, located closer to the user.
  2. In the ELECTROLUX EWW51486HW model, you need to pour the air conditioner into the compartment on the right, closed with a transparent lid with a hole.
  3. On Siemens machines, the antistatic agent compartment is equipped with a lid with a flower pattern.
  4. The Zanussi ZWY vertical machine has a tray with four compartments. There the air conditioner is poured into the far right compartment.
  5. The Indesit wiun 105 (CIS) model provides a compartment for antistatic agents on the right. There is a small hole in the center where the air conditioner is poured.
  6. The Bosch WOT24455O washing machine is equipped with three compartments for household chemicals. The antistatic agent should be placed in the middle compartment.
  7. In an LG car, the compartment where the air conditioner is poured is always smaller than the others in width. It is indicated by an asterisk or a flower.

Sometimes a car is bought second-hand when the markings on the tray compartments have already been erased. Then you can independently determine where to pour the rinse aid in the washing machine.

To do this, start the washing machine without putting dirty clothes in the drum. Choose normal washing without pre-soaking. If the tray is left slightly open, you can see which compartment the water flows into.

This is where the powder for the main wash is poured.

Important!

The tray for antistatic agent or bleach is always smaller in size; by this feature it is easy to recognize.

Rules for loading things

For many people, the whole procedure boils down to just loading dirty things into the drum, adding the required amount of powder and turning on the device, but these are only the basic aspects of the device’s operation. It is important to understand exactly which things are allowed to be combined and which are not, so as not to spoil the fabric and achieve the best effect. Before washing in an automatic washing machine, it is important to consider some rules that begin with the correct handling of the washing machine, as well as your things:

  • sort all items by color, soiling level and fabric quality before starting washing. It is important to wash items made from synthetics, linen, cotton and wool separately, as well as those items that are not as dirty as the rest - they should be washed at different times;
  • Before washing, it is important to check all pockets for foreign objects that could end up in the machine drum and damage it. It is also important to fasten all buttons, zippers and zippers. If there are any decoration elements on the items, it is also important to remove them if possible so that they do not come off from the items during washing;
  • washing knitted and terry fabrics. For proper washing, terry items need to be turned inside out - this is how they will not deteriorate when rotating in the drum of the washing machine, will not become repainted and will retain their attractive appearance;
  • it is forbidden to exceed the specified rate of loading things into the drum of the washing machine, since in this case, when washing, too much pressure is applied to it, and the efficiency of the entire washing process significantly decreases;
  • Before washing in an automatic machine, it is important to select the correct mode. In this case, you need to carefully study the labels on the items loaded into the drum. This is the only way to increase the effectiveness of the procedure and reduce the risk of tissue damage;
  • It is forbidden to pour washing powder into the drum itself before you start washing - the remaining detergent will begin to settle in the folds of things. Detergents and powder need to be added only to special containers that are built into all models of automatic machines - every manufacturer advises this;
  • It is also important to use the correct dosage of powder, not to overdo it, otherwise the machine will quickly deteriorate, and the items after washing will be of poor quality or very hard, as a result of which they will also become unsuitable for wearing.
  • These are the main rules for washing in a washing machine; every user must follow them. Washing in a machine will be much easier and more effective, as well as safer, if you learn to follow all the basic recommendations of the manufacturers.

    Adding fabric softener correctly

    How to properly organize the washing process, and when should you add fabric softener: at the beginning or at the end? Let's look at this in more detail in this section.

    The configurations of all washing machines ensure that all detergents added to it are consumed in stages in the order indicated on the tray. At the very beginning, a dose of powder is used for the preliminary washing stage, then comes the main portion of dry or gel powder, and finally the fabric softener is used during rinsing.

    As mentioned above, it is better to pour the rinse aid not into the drum with dirty laundry, but directly into the compartment reserved for the air conditioner. Add it along with the powder at the beginning of the washing stage.

    If you suddenly forgot to add rinse aid, and the wash is already in full swing, then you can add it to the required compartment before rinsing.

    You can set the machine to a separate “rinse” option, which takes an average of a quarter of an hour, and add the “forgotten” rinse aid into the cell with the flower.

    If the unit does not have the ability to add conditioner-rinse aid simultaneously with the powder (technical reasons or complex configuration), then you can purchase a special container for liquid conditioner to add it to the machine drum after washing.

    Add the rinse aid to the container in the required amount and make sure that it does not spill onto the laundry ahead of time, then turn on the rinse mode.

    If the composition gets on the items before rinsing begins, then there is a chance that white stains will remain on them, and the items will have to be rewashed.

    You can add conditioner while washing clothes into the machine tray by following the sequence of steps:

    1. Press “Start/Pause” and thereby pause the washing process.
    2. Add fabric softener to the softener compartment.
    3. Unpause the interrupted washing procedure by selecting the “Start/Pause” option again.

    To make it easier for housewives to use the washing unit, the table below shows where to correctly fill the fabric softener.

    Model name with non-standard rinse aid trayCompartment location
    "Electrolux"It is located on the right side of the tray, in its extreme part.
    "Siemens"The rinse aid compartment is marked with a cap and a flower.
    "Indesit"In this model, there is a cuvette for air conditioner on the right.
    "Samsung" with air-bubble type of washingThe location of the compartment is in the lower right part of the tray.
    "Bosch" with vertical loading of clothesThe compartment is located in the center of the lid.
    Zanussi top loadingThis model has 4 compartments; the one required for the air conditioner will be on the far right side.
    LgIn this model, the conditioner must be poured into a smaller compartment of the cuvette. It may have a mark on it: an asterisk, a flower, or in the form of the number 3.

    If for some reason it was not possible to determine the exact location of the compartment for the conditioner-rinse aid in the unit (the passport for household appliances is lost or the marking is no longer readable), then you can seek advice from a specialist at the nearest household appliances store. A sales consultant will certainly help you figure everything out.

    Features of trays in different models of washing machines

    Different models of washing machines have features for dividing the tray into compartments. Let's look at some models of machines with unusual trays.

    • ELECTROLUX EWW51486HW is a mid-range washing machine with a detergent drawer with three compartments, of which the rightmost one is for rinse aid.
    • Bosch WOT24455O is a mid-class top-loading washing machine. The tray is located on the lid, the rinse aid compartment is in the middle.
    • Indesit wiun 105 (CIS) is a front-loading washing machine. The tray of this machine also has three compartments, the one on the right is for air conditioning.
    • Samsung eco bubble wf 602 is a washing machine with bubble washing technology. The powder tray of this Samsung machine consists of 3 compartments, of which the bottom one on the right is for rinse aid.
    • Zanussi ZWY is a top loading machine. The detergent tray is divided into 4 compartments. The one on the far right is for conditioner, the compartment next to it is for bleach. The other two are for powder in the main and additional wash.
    • Siemens - washing machines of this brand have cuvettes for detergents, in which the conditioner compartment has a lid with a painted flower.
    • Miele WDA 100 is an expensive washing machine with a three-compartment detergent drawer. The one on the far left is for the air conditioner.

    Looking at all the powder receptacles of washing machines, we can say that in general they are similar. In order not to make a mistake about where to pour the rinse aid, you need to read the instructions for the machine.

    If there is no such thing, then it is easy to establish this experimentally by running a test wash without laundry and pouring rinse aid into one of the compartments. If the rinse aid is washed away after the first start of water, then this is the powder compartment.

    If not, then this compartment is the one you are looking for.
