How to properly store sneakers and other shoes
Many people don’t even think about how to properly store shoes. It is believed that it will be enough to remove heavy dirt from a pair of favorite sneakers and put them in a box until next season. It’s even worse if sneakers and boots are simply placed in a suitcase in one heap, where they sit together waiting for their time. To prevent this from happening, you should organize decent storage for your belongings, based on the fact that the shoe storage system is different for each type of shoe.
Storing leather sneakers
Leather shoes should be stored after their preliminary preparation. Sneakers that have been dried at room temperature and cleaned of dirt should be filled from the inside with crumpled paper (cotton wool). After this, apply a protective cream to the surface. But if there are special lasts made of plastic or foam, which are often sold with shoes, it is better to use them. In this case, there will be confidence that the item will not be deformed.
- Leather shoes should be stored exactly in the position that is natural for them. That is, it should be with the sole down.
- The best position for boots with high tops is suspended. In this case, creases and folds will not form.
- To prevent leather boots from losing their shape, special hangers are used for them. And if storing shoes in a closet is preferable, you should keep them in the same box in which they were sold. But at the same time, the dimensions of the box must correspond to the length of the tops.
- When winter shoes are lined with natural fur on the inside, there is a risk of damage by moths. Therefore, inside each pair you should put bags with aromatic herbs or specially designed fragrant pads for this purpose.
- A popular way to protect leather sneakers from creases and hardening is to treat them with turpentine or castor oil.
Leather shoes should be stored in dry places with good ventilation. Do not allow it to be exposed to sunlight.
