How to make slime from PVA glue and soda

Making slime from glue and baking soda doesn't require much skill. But we decided to give free rein to our imagination by preparing several colored slimes, from which, if desired, you can mix a large rainbow slime.

An additional component in this recipe is lens fluid, which helps complete the slime formation process. In addition, dyes of different colors will be useful (you can take simple gouache or food pigments).

I recommend using Elmers brand glue for it. For a large tube (150 ml) you will need one tablespoon of baking soda and two tablespoons of contact lens rinsing liquid. It must contain boric acid.

How to cook:

A tube of glue needs to be poured into several containers (their number depends on the number of prepared dyes).

Each portion of glue is tinted in its own color. You can add glitter along with the pigment to all containers or only to some of them.

After this, you need to distribute the powder over all parts of the slime, thoroughly mixing each portion.

Lens solution is added last. You need to pour it in little by little and immediately knead the mass.

The contents of the bowl will be very sticky at first. An additional portion of the solution will help bring it to the desired consistency.

Once the slime becomes thick enough to knead with your hands, you can remove it from the container and continue kneading. The finished toy should be homogeneous, viscous, without lumps.

How to make mountain slime

The procedure is repeated for each part of the slime.

Slime made from PVA glue and soda has special properties. For example, it reacts violently to an acidic environment. Try placing a piece of such a toy in vinegar. The flow of foam will be similar to a volcanic eruption. For this reason, soda handgam is called “lava slime.”

Starch

To make chewing gum for hands you need to take the following components:

  • water - 130 ml;
  • corn or potato starch - 200 g;
  • dye;
  • PVA glue - 80 g.

You won’t be able to make a quality toy from expired glue and starch. The ingredients must be fresh.

Procedure for making slime:

  1. Heat the water and pour it into a deep container.
  2. Add starch in small portions, stirring constantly.
  3. After the starch swells, add glue. Stir the solution until smooth.
  4. Paint the mixture in the desired color using acrylic paint or ink.

The finished slime should stretch well and not stick to your hands. It can be decorated with beads, rhinestones, sparkles, and colored foam balls.

For kids, it is better to make slime without PVA glue. If a child puts such a toy in his mouth, it will not harm his health. It is recommended to paint a toy intended for children exclusively with natural dyes.

Natural hand gum can be made from certain ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp. l. hot water;
  • ½ cup potato or corn starch;
  • dye: currant, strawberry, blueberry, beetroot or orange juice.
  1. All ingredients must be mixed in one container or bowl.
  2. After this, let the mass swell for several minutes.
  3. Then mix the composition well again.

The toy is ready if it stretches well and does not stick to your hands.

How to make slime from toothpaste and soda

Baking soda and toothpaste can make a wonderful slime if you do everything strictly according to the recipe.

To create it, let's take:

  • a teaspoon of bicarbonate;
  • approximately 50 ml of toothpaste;
  • a little salt;
  • a teaspoon of sugar.

We will mix the anti-stress in several steps:

  1. First, let's prepare the activator. Dissolve two pinches of salt and sugar in half a glass of water.
  2. Mix toothpaste with baking soda and place in the refrigerator for a quarter of an hour.
  3. When the paste has cooled, fill it with the cooled activator and wait another 15 minutes.
  4. After this, you can try to knead the mixture with your hands. If it does not thicken, you need to add another portion of the solution and wait again.

Slime with baking soda without a thickener may turn out viscous. To remove stickiness, add a spoonful of flour to the toy.

Care and storage rules

Slime is a rather “fragile” toy; in order to use it for a long time, a number of conditions must be met:

  • place the product you made in a container with a tight-fitting lid to significantly extend its life;
  • do not spill liquid on the slime, this will ruin its structure;
  • While playing, try not to drop the toy on the floor, as particles of debris and dust quickly stick to it. This will keep the slime clean;
  • Play with the slime for about 10-15 minutes at a time, then give it a chance to “rest” in a cool place. This will prevent the slime from spreading.

Well, job done. Now you will find a lot of original ways to use and play solutions involving your slime. Let this bring you and your children only joy!

How to make slime from baking soda and shampoo

When creating chewing gum for your hands, you can easily do without glue. Let's try to make a slime from soda and shampoo.

In addition to the two main ingredients, we will need naphthyzine and a little dye.

  1. Mix 3 tablespoons of thick shampoo with a teaspoon of powder. Stir vigorously until all the crystals dissolve. The mass then foams and becomes white.
  2. Color the mixture.
  3. Add naphthyzin (a couple of teaspoons is enough), stir the mixture, then put it in the freezer for 20 minutes.

After freezing, you can take the slime with your hands and knead it.

Tips and tricks

Unfortunately, soda slimes do not last long, but if you store the slime in a tightly sealed container, you can significantly increase its lifespan.

You should also carefully monitor children who play with this slime. Soda will not affect the child in any way, except that he may not like the taste, but other components, such as glue, shampoo, fairies, can cause food release.

If you decide to add color to your slime, add the dye drop by drop, otherwise you risk overdoing it. Then the slime will stain your hands and any other surfaces it touches.

You can also use regular gouache instead of dyes. It will be able to color your slime no worse than any other dye.

Soap and baking soda recipe

To make the following slime using baking soda and liquid soap, you will need a third ingredient - salt. The toy will be very simple in composition and safe for the skin. As with the previous recipe, you will need to cool the slime to complete the process.

Mix 2-3 tablespoons of thick soap with dry ingredients. Add salt until the entire mass reaches the desired thickness. After this, we send the container with the future anti-stress to the refrigerator. You will have to wait about an hour and a half. That's it, the slime can be pulled out, it's ready to play.

Storage rules

Homemade slime, although it does not last long, has certain storage rules. It must be placed in a separate container (container) in the refrigerator, but not in the freezer. Frost is harmful for the licker.

The second requirement is to prevent small debris and dust from getting on the sticky surface. Penetrates easily but is difficult to remove. Therefore, games of hide and seek with slime under the sofa end in failure - a complete loss of presentation. It is possible to partially restore external data if you carefully remove debris using a needle and a swab moistened with medical alcohol.

Changes in humidity, air that is too dry or oversaturated with water vapor are also not the best environment for a licker. In the first case, it becomes rigid and loses its plasticity; in the second, it spreads. The situation can be partially corrected by adding a couple of drops of water or, conversely, table salt (which will absorb excess moisture) to the container with the sticky toy.

Is it possible to thicken slime with boric acid?

The main active ingredient of borax is boric acid salts. It is due to them that it acts as a thickener on the slime mass. Therefore, in addition to sodium tetraborate, you can take other salt products.

Salt suitable for adding to the mixture is also found in contact lens liquid, Visine eye drops, and table salt solution. These substances can be used as a replacement for boric acid.

Salt-containing preparations are the most famous option for activators. When they are added, a chemical reaction quickly begins, the mass thickens and becomes denser before our eyes.

The application scheme is simple: after the main ingredients are mixed, the salt product is added drop by drop. Its quantity depends on the volume of the slime and what density you want to achieve.

How to make edible slime

Borax powder should be diluted with water before use; 1 tablespoon of powder is diluted with a glass of water.

You need to work with borax powder carefully; children will need parental help. If you have sensitive skin, wear gloves.

Slime made from flour and soda

This flour and baking soda slime does not require a thickener. The hand cream will bind the two dry ingredients together.

  1. Take an equal amount of dry ingredients and mix them in a deep bowl.
  2. Add the cream and start stirring. The amount of cream may be different: you will need more thick cream, less liquid cream. The main thing is that the mass is homogeneous and dense.
  3. After this, you need to knead the toy with your hands until its surface becomes smooth.

Slime, made from baking soda and flour without glue, resembles dough and does not form a film when stretched. But it is very pleasant to the touch and softens the skin of the hands well.

Slime made from starch and soda

You can make interesting slime at home using starch. Potato or corn will do.

The process of creating anti-stress is similar to kneading dough:

  1. In a glass of warm water, dissolve 3 tablespoons of soda and any starch.
  2. All lumps resulting from this must be broken up. To do this, thoroughly stir the mixture, first with a stick or spoon, and then with your hands.
  3. We evaluate the consistency. If the slime turns out liquid, add a little soda. If the lump is too dense, dilute it with water.

A slime made from soda and starch should be viscous and elastic. We paint it with any pigment and you can enjoy the game.

What adhesive should I use?

To make slime at home, the following are most often used:

  • silicate;
  • PVA glue.

Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages.

  1. Regular PVA glue is non-toxic, but care must be taken when choosing the appropriate consistency.
    Glue that is too thick will make the mixture hard and greasy; glue that is too thin will not thicken enough and the slime will spread. Also, you should not choose a type of PVA glue for paper, since it often does not react properly with the activator and the resulting mixture does not turn into slime. The best brand of PVA glue for such purposes is “Luch”.
  2. Stationery glue comes in different forms: liquid, glue stick, spray or tape. To make slime, it is not recommended to use any type of office glue other than liquid. Glue glue form is liquid, but glue stick and tape are too hard and will not interact properly with the thickener.
  3. Silicate glue It is very popular for making slimes because they turn out completely transparent, as if they were made of glass. Professionals recommend using the following brands of silicate glue to make slime:
    • "Craft glue";
    • glue for puzzles “Step puzzle”;

  4. "Brauberg".
  5. However, please note that to prepare high-quality slime from Brauberg brand glue, you need to choose the thickest consistency possible.

The best glue for making slime is the American analogue of the Russian Elmers PVA glue. A large assortment of colors, non-toxicity, frost resistance, cost-effectiveness, and fire safety are the main advantages of this glue. The glue manufacturer, , also produces glitter glue directly for making beautiful original slimes.

To make slime from soda, never use construction adhesive due to its high toxicity. Despite the fact that slimes made from construction glue are quite plastic, they cannot be used.

Slime made from soda and water

Using this recipe for slime with soda, you can get a transparent anti-stress, which is also called glass. It is not customary to add dye to it, but glitter can be used.

First, let's prepare all the ingredients:

  • a tablespoon of bicarbonate;
  • half a glass of warm water;
  • tube of transparent glue;
  • sparkles, charms - optional.

The slime is prepared in an unusual way: instead of pouring the activator into the glue, we will place the glue in a thickening solution. To make it, dissolve the powder in warm water and let the liquid cool.

Now we will carefully pour the glue into the middle of the container in a thin stream. Do not mix the contents of the dishes. Our task is to help the glue located in the center of the liquid take shape and turn into a clot. Therefore, carefully pick up the edges of the glue spot with a stick and direct them to its middle.

Having knocked all the glue into a transparent “jellyfish” in this way, we catch it from the solution and knead it with our hands to get a homogeneous slime. When the process is finished, add sparkles and decor to the anti-stress.
