Making pie dough

Step 1. Cut butter or margarine into pieces and place in a microwave-safe bowl. Place the bowl in the microwave for half a minute using the “Reheat” function.

Step 2: Place melted butter in a large bowl. Then add sour cream and whisk thoroughly.

Step 3. Now add flour, a pinch of salt and knead the dough for the onion pie. It should be elastic and soft.

Step 3. Grease the baking pan with vegetable oil. Sprinkle the table with flour and place the dough on it. Roll it into a thin layer.

Step 4. Place the dough in the mold and make high sides so that the filling does not spill over the edges of the dough. I have a mold with a diameter of 23 centimeters and this amount of dough is quite enough. Then put the form with the dough in the freezer for 30 minutes.

Step 5: While the pie dough is chilling, you need to make the onion filling. Peel the onion and cut into thin half rings.

Step 6. Pour vegetable or olive oil into a frying pan, add onions and place on the stove to fry. Fry it until soft and golden brown over low heat.

Step 7. While the onions are frying, you need to make the filling for the onion pie. Break the eggs into a bowl, add sour cream, salt, ground black pepper and beat thoroughly with a whisk.

Don’t know what you can quickly, tasty and inexpensively prepare as an unusual snack? Bake a pie with an original filling of onions and processed cheese. My mother-in-law taught me how to make it; she prepared it back in Soviet times from Druzhba processed cheese. It is great for first courses instead of bread, as an appetizer or as a treat on its own.

Pie with processed cheese and fried onions

General list of ingredients

For the test we will need:

Sour cream6-7 tbsp. l.
Margarine1 pack
Soda1 tsp.
Flour500-550 g

For filling:

  • eggs – 4 pcs.;
  • processed cheese – 2-3 pcs.;
  • spices;
  • medium onions – 4-5 pcs.

Cooking sequence

Knead the dough

  1. We take a bowl in which it will be convenient for you to knead the dough, and pour some of the flour into it and mix with soda. You don’t have to extinguish the soda; the acid in the sour cream will do that.
  2. Rub margarine into a container with flour using the side of a grater with large holes. This will be easier to do if you keep a pack of margarine in the freezer for 20 minutes.
  3. Add the required amount of sour cream.
  4. We begin to knead the dough, adding the remaining flour.

Preparing the filling

  1. Cut the onions into small cubes and sauté in a heated frying pan with a small amount of oil. The onion should acquire a transparent, light golden color.
  2. Place the onions from the hot frying pan into another container and cool.
  3. Separate the yolk from one egg and set it aside. Beat the remaining eggs a little together with the spices.
  4. Grate processed cheese with the large side of a grater. To prevent them from smearing on the surface of the grater, they, like margarine, need to be kept in the freezer before grating.

  • water – 140 g;
  • fresh dill – 1 bunch;
  • margarine – 240 g;
  • turmeric – 0.5 tsp;
  • vegetable oil – 1 tsp;
  • garlic – 2 cloves;
  • flour – 500-600 g.

For filling:

  • eggs – 4 pcs.;
  • green onions;
  • salt - a pinch;
  • processed cheese – 3 pcs.;
  • fresh herbs;
  • spices;
  • medium onions – 4-5 pcs.

Cooking sequence

The steps for preparing the dough are almost the same as in the previous interpretation of the recipe, but it will be brighter.

  1. Pour half the flour into a deep container.
  2. Rub cold, hard margarine there with a coarse grater. For convenience, you can put it in the freezer for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Add cold water, salt and most of the remaining flour.
  4. Knead, adding flour as needed, to create a soft dough that will not stick to your hands.
  5. Chop dill and garlic.
  6. Separate a third of the dough and mix in garlic, vegetable oil, turmeric and dill.
  7. Both parts, wrapped in film, are placed in the refrigerator to cool.

Cheese and onion filling with herbs

  1. Cut the onion heads into not very large pieces and fry until transparent in vegetable oil. Cool well.
  2. Chop dill, parsley and green onions.
  3. Separate the yolk from one egg, and lightly beat the white with the rest of the eggs, adding spices and a pinch of salt.
  4. Add the greens to the eggs and mix.
  5. Rub the processed cheese with the coarse side of a grater and mix it with eggs and herbs.

Form and bake the cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°.
  2. Grease the mold with oil.
  3. Roll out the larger, white part of the dough and place it in the mold so that the sides remain.
  4. We spread the filling.
  5. Roll out the yellow-green part of the dough to the size of the pie.
  6. Cover the pie with a colored layer and pinch the edges nicely.
  7. Grease with the yolk that we left and bake for 30-40 minutes.
  8. Cool slightly and serve the delicious, aromatic and satisfying pie to the table.

  • ready puff pastry – 250 g;
  • eggs – 4 pcs.;
  • cheese – 3 pcs.;
  • medium bulbs – 4-5 pcs.;
  • any sour cream – 3-4 tbsp;

Cooking sequence

  1. Cut the onion into small pieces and fry it lightly. Cool well.
  2. Grate the cheese on the coarse side of a grater.

  10. Cover with sides, leaving most of the filling exposed.
  11. Brush the folded edges of the dough with yolk and place in the oven for about 35 minutes.
  12. Let the rosy pie cool slightly.
