In LG automatic washing machines, there is no error 1E. It’s just that many people confuse the Latin letter I with the number 1. The code appears on the display - IE.
This malfunction indicates problems with the water supply, which can be caused by a number of reasons. Let's look at the decoding and what needs to be done in each option.
- Reasons for the error
- No water supply
- Fill hose is clogged
- The mesh filter on the valves is clogged
- Problems with fill valves
- Pressostat
- Control module is faulty
- Water constantly leaves the car
- Catalog of LG washing machines with reviews
Reasons for the error
The actual algorithm for the appearance of the IE error is as follows - after selecting a program, the washing machine opens the inlet valves and water enters the tank. If within a certain time it has not reached the required level, then the electronic module issues a code that some read as 1E.
LGI washing machine panel
Let's look at the factors that lead to this:
- The water supply tap is closed.
- The inlet hose is kinked.
- The inlet filter is clogged.
- The fill valve is damaged.
- The pressure switch is faulty.
- Control module failure.
- "Self-draining."
In LG washing machines, as a rule, it takes 8 minutes to reach the desired water level in the tank. We will consider each reason in detail, and what to do in these cases.
Troubleshooting algorithm
Since we already know what exactly the breakdown may be, let’s consider what to do in each specific case:
- If there is a problem with the water supply, or more precisely, with the pressure, you can contact the city water utility for clarification. Another way to solve this problem is to install a small pump that will create the necessary pressure.
- If the valve is closed, the solution is obvious; you need to open the tap. It is also possible that it is not fully open, this could also be the reason why the MAS issues a fault code.
- Next, you need to see if the inlet hose is installed correctly, refer to the instructions, the figure shows its correct location.
- The next thing you need to inspect is the filter mesh. It is located between the inlet hose and the machine, unscrew this unit and rinse the filter under running water. If it cannot be cleaned with ordinary water, place the filter in a special solution containing aggressive acids.
- Disconnect the LG SMA (LGI) from the power supply. There may be a glitch in the program and a restart will restore normal operation.
- There is a problem with the inlet valve; a signal is sent to it from the control module to open, after which liquid is filled. The valve may not open completely, or may only open halfway. Inspect its condition and, if necessary, replace it with a good one.
- There is a breakdown in the pressure switch, first remove it and inspect it, clean its tube. If cleaning does not correct the situation, you need to purchase a working device.
- The malfunction is related to the control board; check the wiring connecting the board to the liquid level sensor and other elements of the system. If a break is detected, replace or repair the faulty section.
If these actions do not lead to the expected result, you will have to contact a specialist to carry out diagnostics first. And subsequently, flashing or replacing individual elements.

The washing machine does not rotate the drum. During the operation of the washing machine, such a problem may occur. Each model has a different drum operation. It rotates according to a given algorithm, which is set by the program. This principle applies to spinning and washing. If you are not sure whether the drum is not spinning or whether it is working, put the laundry in the washing machine. Start the spin program. If the machine is running, it will first drain the water and then start spinning. In this case, a rotational process will be observed. If rotation is not visible, then check the belt. First, turn off the program, then unplug the wire from the outlet so that power does not flow into the device. Now you need to remove the back cover. You will need to carefully inspect the drum belt. It is quite easy to determine whether it is in the wrong position or damaged.
Is the washing machine belt torn or stretched? Not really

Broken drum drive belt If the belt breaks, it will be immediately visible. There are also often cases when the belt simply stretches, which is why the drum, accordingly, does not rotate. Do not allow the machine to operate if the belt breaks. It is important to check whether it has wound around the engine pulley or broken the wiring to the engine. The heating element and temperature sensor may also be damaged if the belt does catch the wires. It is imperative to ensure that the belt model is original. If you choose an unsuitable or low-quality product, this will affect the performance of other devices. How do you know what kind of belt you have? There will be a marking written on the old one, compare it with the one indicated on the belt offered to you. You can also find out belt information by car model.

Washing machine motor malfunction If a malfunction is not found, the block with wires must be disconnected from the electric motor. Carefully remove it. We visually evaluate the engine. It may have melting, cracks, or other effects that clearly indicate damage. We call the windings of the tachogenerator and the engine. It is important to understand that you can fully study how correctly the engine operates and whether there is a malfunction only at the stand. If rotation does not occur, there may be a problem with more than just the motor. Sometimes the cause is a malfunctioning electronic module. If a short circuit occurs in the engine, the module could be damaged, while the engine remains operational. Also, the wires could be damaged.

Repairing a washing machine that does not spin clothes After completing the washing process, the washing machine may not spin properly or may not start spinning. Firstly, look, perhaps another mode is set, which does not involve turning on the spin cycle at all. This happens, for example, with programs related to washing woolen items and delicate fabrics. To check, run the spin cycle separately. If the washing machine does not drain water, we proceed to check the pump.

Repair of washing machines, imbalance Modern washing machines place the laundry on the drum before spinning. This is necessary for quality work. Check if this feature works. Sometimes a situation occurs when things get wrapped up in a ball that cannot be unwound automatically within a certain time. At this point the work stops. You need to unwind this laundry yourself, lay it out and continue operating the washing machine. In this case, it is important to turn off the machine, and then, when the laundry is laid out, turn on a separate spin program.

The washing machine hums, makes noise during the spin cycle, rumbles, and makes a jet plane noise. If the washing machine makes noise during operation, making unusual sounds, it’s time to pay special attention to it. In this case, a visible breakdown or lack of functionality may not be observed, but the appearance of strange sounds indicates that it is time to look for a malfunction. It is important to understand that a new car that has just been delivered should be inspected for shipping bolts. If you forget to remove them, noise and vibration are inevitable. So, let's begin! We turn the washing machine drum and listen to extraneous sounds.
When rotating, do you hear extraneous noise, hum, balls rolling, does the drum move unevenly with slight jamming? Not really

The counterweight of the washing machine has come loose. The fastening of the counterweights must also be of high quality. If they are “loose”, it’s time to eliminate this defect. In some cases, you can notice that the bolts that secure the stones are completely missing. In this case, the connectors for mounting will be visible. The bolts need to be found and put in place - they probably simply came loose. A rumble heard while the washing machine is operating may indicate that the bolts have partially loosened. To check the bolts, you can simply push the drum. If it is secure, the bolts are fine. If it moves, there is a defect.

No indication Checking the electrical circuit. If you notice that the washing machine does not respond to being turned on, it is first recommended to check the power supply. The outlet may be faulty. Try connecting another device. If the outlet works, you need to check whether the circuit that conducts energy through the washing machine from one element to another is intact. To do this, you will need a multimeter, which will help you fully analyze the ability to respond to an electrical signal at several stages of operation. If there is no network connection anywhere, this is probably the problem. We carry out this manipulation until we reach the electronic module. If the cause of the error is found
Let's say the cause is discovered, but what to do next? Of course, the specific course of action will be determined by this or that breakdown, but experts give general advice in order to eliminate the most common problems:
- Clean the drain filter as thoroughly as possible, making sure to remove all kinds of objects from it.
- Rinse the previously disconnected drain hose with strong pressure of hot water.
- Clean the siphon and drain hose.
- If you have a voltmeter on hand, you need to check the voltage at the drain pump, water control sensor and electrical controller.
- You can try turning off all sensors and then turning on the washing machine. Then disconnect and reconnect all sensors again. Restarting the system in this way can solve the problem.
In any case, if your machine one day shows such an error, you should not panic, but on the contrary, you need to pull yourself together and find the cause of the malfunction.
No water supply
A rather banal situation, but nevertheless it constantly arises. First of all, you need to check whether the tap is turned off. And also make sure that there is water in the pipes. Let us note another non-trivial situation. In some residential building layouts, there are so-called technical transit pipes. They pass through the riser through the apartment, but do not participate in its water supply.

Ask a Question
Household appliance repair technicians are faced with the situation that the washing machine is connected to just such a pipe. But sooner or later, the management organization may turn off this pipe. Therefore, if you have this particular position, then you need to check for the presence of water in it, and if not, switch.
Preventive measures
In order to be less likely to encounter the problem of detecting an IE error on an LG display, the following preventive measures will not be superfluous:
- If the water in the water supply system is very dirty, it makes sense to install main filters at the entrance to the apartment. This will protect the washing machine from the entry of rust particles and other impurities that can cause clogging.
- If there are constant power surges in the house, it is advisable to connect the washing machine through a voltage stabilizer. This will protect the control board and other components from burnout and prevent costly repairs.
- It is advisable to clean the filter at the entrance to the washing machine, like the hose, from time to time. With active use, the best option is once a year.
- The pressure switch tube often becomes clogged with water containing foreign inclusions. If the water has quality problems, the pressure switch tube must be cleaned once a year, without waiting for problems to appear.
Fill hose is clogged
Inlet hose
Here, too, everything is simple and easy to identify the problem by visual inspection. This situation occurs when the washing machine is moved close to the wall. As a result, the inlet hose becomes bent and water will not flow.
A blockage may also occur. This happens especially often in the summer, when water is turned off to prevent pipeline maintenance. After it is fed into the hose, rust and debris may become clogged.
For cleaning, it is completely removed and washed under high pressure.
Troubleshooting IE error
When something breaks, you first need to understand why exactly it happened. If water collects, you will have to change the pressure switch. Every owner of an LG washing machine needs to know how to fix the error. If the liquid is not heard, then you need to first check the hose, as it could be kinked. Blockages often occur; to do this, you will need to clean it. You will need to completely remove the hose and rinse it thoroughly.
The filter also gets clogged with dirt; there is a mesh in the valve. It will need to be cleaned. The first thing you need to do is turn off the water completely. Next, remove the hose and carefully pull out the filter. Rinse the mesh thoroughly and put it back in place. This should also be done for prevention.
There are times when the valve breaks and will need to be replaced. You can carry out this procedure yourself; you just need to purchase a suitable part and install it correctly. To do this, you need to take and disconnect the inlet hose, then remove the cover of the washer. At the same time, unscrew the two bolts that hold the valve and disconnect it from the pipes.
Next, check the condition of the rubber bands, because they are a common cause; they cause malfunctions. If this happens, it is necessary to replace the rubber bands, but sometimes the problem is a breakdown of the valve electronics. Then you will need to purchase and install a new part.
The pressure switch monitors the liquid level in the tank, and if any problems arise, error 1e appears. If a part breaks, it cannot be repaired; you must purchase a new one. You can check whether the pressure switch is working using an oscilloscope. Oxidation of wires and contacts may also occur; to correct the problem, it must be treated with a product. The control module can also fail, because it is responsible for the entire operation of the LG ACS. In this case, you will need to purchase or flash a module. It is not recommended to do this on your own, since only an experienced master should understand such matters.
If the washing machine is not connected correctly, there may be a leak of liquid from the tank. Then it crashes and an IE error appears on the screen. To solve the problem, you will need to properly install the LG washing machine.
If you have tried all the methods and were unable to fix the problem yourself, then it is best to contact a professional. He will help you find the cause and eliminate it. Many people don’t even realize that if they repair the modular control themselves, the washing machine may fail altogether. The best option would be to call a specialist who is good at this.
There are also cases when error 1E appears due to some simple reasons:
- A person forgets that he turned off the tap and water does not flow to the washing machine. It is necessary to check whether it is actually closed.
- It happens that there is no water in the tap. There may have been some disruption in the water supply.
- It often happens that the shut-off valve is not fully open, so the washing machine takes a long time to fill with water and eventually gives an error.
- You need to try restarting the machine and turning it off for 10 minutes and turning it on again. There may have been a minor glitch in the modular control.
Therefore, there is no need to panic if an error appears on the display; it can be eliminated quite simply. It also happens, of course, that repairs are needed, but don’t be upset, because the main thing is that after the breakdown is fixed, the LG machine will work again. The most important thing will be to find a good specialist.
The mesh filter on the valves is clogged
This problem is similar to the one discussed above, but it occurs at any time. There is a mesh on the inlet valves, where the hose is connected, which ensures safe operation of the washing machine, without leakage.
Valve filter sma
This filter periodically becomes clogged. Depends, of course, on the quality of the water and the presence of devices in the apartment’s pipe system that prevent the passage of debris and sand.
In order to clean it, you need to perform the following steps:
- Turn off the water supply.
- Disconnect the inlet hose from the machine.
- Using pliers, pull out the filter.
- While tapping, rinse the mesh under pressure.
- Put it back.

Error codes for LG washing machines
LG equipment is equipped with a self-diagnosis system so that the user can use the error code to understand which specific part has failed and what repairs are required to restore the unit’s functionality. If errors occur, the system displays the corresponding code on the display. The user only needs to understand the code and troubleshoot the problem.
I.E.
There is not enough compression to carry out a washing cycle; the water takes a very long time to fill the tank, and it does not fill to the required level. A breakdown occurs due to a malfunction of the water inlet valve or level controller. Another common cause of this error code is insufficient pressure in the water supply or a water shutoff.
F.E.
The drainage does not occur within the prescribed period, water accumulates in the drum. A breakdown occurs due to incorrect functioning of the drain pump or electric sensor.
O.E.
The code is displayed on the screen when the maximum water level in the drum is exceeded, and when there is remaining water after draining. The reasons may be similar to the FE code; a clogged drain or blockages in the pipeline can also lead to the problem.
P.E.
Insufficient or excess water volume, this error can be caused by excessively strong or weak water pressure in the pipeline. Often the cause of a failure is a broken pressure switch or its short-term stop due to a short circuit or lack of voltage in the network.
DE
The error code suggests that the door is not closed. You should try to close the lid again, as laundry may get caught there. If the failure is technical, then this indicates a breakdown of the electric sensor or hatch lock.
T.E.
This code indicates that the water is not heated to the required number of degrees or is too hot. The root of the problem is the malfunction of the thermostat that controls the heating element, which is associated with a sharp surge in the power supply.
UE
The code lights up on the display if the balance in the drum is not maintained and the items are unevenly distributed during standard washing and in spin mode. The error occurs in cases where the user loads too little laundry or overloads the drum, and if the error occurs during washing, the code is not displayed immediately. This code is also displayed when the electrical sensor malfunctions.
S.E.
The error code is unique to direct drive devices, since the code reacts to malfunctions of the Hall sensor installed only in this type of unit. If there are problems with the sensor, the motor is blocked, which makes further operation impossible.
A.E.
The code is displayed on the screen when the washing machine automatically turns off. The main cause of failure is incorrect operation by the user.
C.E.
The error occurs when overloading, loading the weight of things exceeding the maximum permissible value. As a result, the motor is overloaded and cannot pull the heavy weight of the drum. To solve the problem, you can remove some of the laundry and leave it until the next wash. If the load of laundry is small, the error may be caused by incorrect operation of the electric sensor or motor.
E1
The error is displayed when water accumulates in the pan and a leak occurs. This malfunction is caused by tank depressurization or failure, hose ruptures and improper operation of leakage sensors.
HE
The code indicates a malfunction of the water heating element or power supplies.

E3
The washing machine is unable to determine the load weight.
L.E.
Error in the controller responsible for blocking the hatch due to a breakdown of the mechanism or insufficient voltage in the electrical network. The cause is also a breakdown of the motor or electrical sensor.
LG washing machines have two more specific codes, which are not essentially errors, but serve to provide information to the user:
- C.L. The code does not mean an error, but assumes that child protection has been installed. The function is activated by a set of keys, which varies depending on the model and is indicated in the instructions;
- EE. A symbol that appears exclusively during service testing of the device or the first wash.
These are the main fault codes that appear on the smart display of LG washing machines. Knowing the error code, you can independently repair or replace a worn-out part without resorting to the services of service centers.
Problems with fill valves
These devices operate on the following principle. The fill valves are constantly closed by default, and when you need to add water, the control module supplies voltage to the valves. And the coil located inside opens the shutter.
Sometimes they burn out and cannot perform their functions. In this case, replacement with new ones is necessary. This work can be done with your own hands, without the involvement of third-party specialists. The main thing is to buy a valve that matches the mounting and shape of your washing machine model.
Triple fill valves
You will need the following tools:
- screwdriver;
- pliers.
The cause of the OE error has been determined: how to fix it?
How to eliminate the cause of the OE error in an LG washing machine? Everything will depend on what is the cause of the OE error and whether it can be eliminated on your own. Experts give some general advice on how to eliminate the causes that gave rise to the error with the OE code; we will outline these tips.
- Thoroughly clean the drain pump filter, remembering to remove all foreign objects from it.
- Disconnect the drain hose and wash it free of dirt. It is best to use strong pressure of hot water.
- Clean the siphon and the connection between the drain hose and the siphon. To do this, the siphon will have to be disassembled and all its parts washed.
- Using a voltmeter, check the voltage going to the pressure switch and drain pump sensors. One of the sensors may need to be replaced.
- Disconnect the sensors from the pressure switch and drain pump one by one, and then turn on the washing machine. Rebooting the system with sensors connected may resolve the issue.
To summarize, if one day your washing machine suddenly stops working and displays an OE error, do not rush to panic. Study the error code and start troubleshooting. In about half of the cases, the problem is solved on your own in 10-15 minutes, good luck!
Pressostat
This device detects the water level in the tank, and if it is faulty, the LG washing machine displays an error code IE (1E). Note that there are two types of sensors: analog and electronic. LG uses mainly electronic ones. They generate a current of a certain frequency. And the filled tank should correspond to - 24.6 kHz. If within 8 minutes this frequency is not reached, an error appears.
The serviceability of the electronic pressure switch can only be diagnosed using an oscilloscope. These devices cannot be repaired.

Pressostat in the car
Why does a code like this pop up?
If your LG washing machine suddenly freezes, stops working, starts beeping, and an error with the IE code appears on the display, there is no need to rush to panic. First, try to calm down and figure out how to decipher this error code. Experts note that in the instructions for the washing machine, this error, like many others, is explained very dryly, incomprehensible to the average user. Here is a breakdown of the IE error code offered by the manufacturer.
- no water supply;
- the pressure is extremely low, almost no water flows;
- the filling valve does not function;
- The sensor that determines the amount of water in the tank has failed.
Let's look at these factory decodings in more detail and start with the case when there is no water. We will not consider a banal reason, such as when the tap water is turned off; in this case, you will soon figure out why the machine refuses to wash. It’s better to consider a situation where there seems to be water in both the water supply and the inlet hose, but for some reason it does not flow into the car. In this case, the issue is the flow filter.
It's no secret that tap water contains a lot of impurities, and even just large debris. Over time, this debris clogs the filter mesh, which is located in front of the fill valve, and water cannot enter the LG machine, which leads to the IE error popping up. A partially clogged filter will also generate an IE error as water cannot flow into the machine at the correct rate.
The problem can take on a completely different character if the filter is clean, but water still does not flow into the machine. In this case, 99% of the problem is in the filling valve. The fill valve is the main barrier between the water supply and the washing machine. When you need to pour water, the control module gives a command to the valve, it opens and water rushes into the machine. When there is enough water, the valve is again commanded and it closes.
If there is a problem with the electrics or the valve mechanism, then it remains in the closed position, despite commands from the control module, the LG washing machine stops and the IE error appears on the display. The above errors can be recognized, as they say, by ear. If you do not hear the sound of water entering the machine, and then a characteristic error appears, then there is a problem with the valve or filter.
Control module is faulty
In modern washing machines, an important element is the electronic module. It is he who determines the program execution parameters, what needs to be turned on and when. But when there are overloads in the network or machine circuits, it becomes damaged and processes information incorrectly or gives the wrong commands.
In this position, correct operation of the SMA is impossible. Then you need to install a new module that matches the model with the firmware or restore the faulty one. You won’t be able to do this yourself - you need to contact a specialized service for repairing household appliances.
Control module
Water constantly leaves the car
If the washing machine is incorrectly connected to the sewer, a “siphon effect” occurs, which is popularly called “self-draining”. That is, water flows out of the tank by gravity. The pressure switch sends a signal to the control module that it is not enough. As a result, the program execution stops, and a fault code is displayed on the display - IE (1E).
Simply install the machine correctly and the problem will go away.
As you can see, most of the reasons that lead to this error are quite easy to fix yourself.
How to solve a problem
You can fix the problem with your LG washing machine yourself. Methods for troubleshooting:
- If the error appears during a power outage, you need to wait until it turns on, and then press the “On”/”Off” buttons to start the program.
- If the PF code lights up due to voltage surges, it is recommended to purchase a voltage stabilizer that brings the high or low value to normal.
- If the malfunction of the washing machine is caused by damage to the socket plug or power cord, they must be replaced. You can check the integrity of the power cord using a multimeter.
- If the control module fails, you need to disconnect the machine from the power supply for a quarter of an hour and then reconnect it. To reconnect, use the “Start”/”Pause” buttons. If after these steps the problem is not solved, then you need to replace the burnt out radio components, solder the contacts and tracks going to the microcontroller.
- If the wiring is damaged in the area from the interference filter to the control module, you must do the following: re-strip and connect the frayed wires or replace the cable. Before carrying out repairs, the electrical appliance must be disconnected from the network.
- If the heating element is faulty, it must be replaced. For this purpose, you need to dismantle the rear panel of the installation, disconnect the connections of the heating element and temperature sensor. Then you need to unscrew the nut on the central screw, disconnect the grounding terminal, and then press through the bolt, remove the faulty heating element and install a new one in the reverse order.
If you cannot fix the problem yourself, it is recommended to call a specialist.
