Let's remember how in kindergarten they cook cabbage rolls and call them lazy. The dish differs from ordinary ones not only in taste, but also in shape. But the ingredients are the same. The lazy cabbage rolls recipe comes in handy when you need to quickly feed the family and keep everyone happy. With ordinary cabbage rolls there is much more fuss, but in our case, we take minced meat, form cutlets from it, bake it in the oven in our favorite sauce and the dish is ready. Minced meat can be any kind. But since the recipe assumes that we will cook for children, it would be correct to use chicken.
What we need:
- minced meat - 500 g;
- boiled rice - 300 g;
- onions - 1 pc.;
- carrots - 1 pc.;
- cabbage – 150g;
- sunflower oil - 150 ml;
- tomatoes - 4 pcs.;
- salt - 1 tsp.
How to make lazy cabbage rolls in the oven like in kindergarten
- Let's prepare the ingredients for lazy cabbage rolls. Wash the rice, add water, add salt, and cook until tender. One part rice will require two parts water.
- Peel the onions and cut them into small cubes.
- Peel the carrots and grate them on a medium grater.
- Shred the white cabbage or simply cut it into thin strips with a knife.
- Pour boiling water over it, cover with a lid, and leave for ten minutes to steam.
- While it is steaming, simmer the vegetables. Take a frying pan, pour in sunflower oil, add chopped onion and simmer over medium heat until soft. When the onion becomes soft, add grated carrots, mix, and add a little salt. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes all together.
- Sometimes cabbage remains hard even after steaming. In this case, it is recommended to saute it with vegetables. We stew onions, carrots and cabbage and get this bright, aromatic mixture.
- Take a deep bowl, put rice, minced meat, and stewed vegetables into it. Don't forget to add salt.
- Mix the minced meat.
- All that remains is to make the preparations. After wetting your hands, take some minced meat and roll into balls in the form of cutlets. I got 14 pieces.
- Place the cabbage rolls in a single layer in a baking dish or deep baking sheet, at a distance of 1-2 cm from each other. Pour the sauce over the preparations. The sauce may vary. I simply twisted the tomatoes through a meat grinder, then mixed 150 ml. the resulting tomato juice with 150 ml. water, salt to taste and pour over the preparations.
- Place the form with cabbage rolls into the preheated oven. Cook for 30-40 minutes.
Agree that baked lazy cabbage rolls made like in kindergarten are easier to prepare than regular ones. However, they are just as tasty, but also dietary. Serve them as a separate dish or with any side dish.
