In appearance, this salad resembles a cake, which is why in some menus you can find the double name “cake salad”. However, such an appetizer is served exclusively at the first table.

Almost any product can serve as a filling for a snack salad. The dish is prepared with sausage, chicken, cheese, eggs, meat, pickles, canned fish - and this is not the entire list of possible ingredients. There are a great many options, all that remains is to choose from a list of various recipes a spectacular dish to impress your guests. We will tell you in detail how to prepare different versions of a delicious layered salad in our article.

Practical part

You need to start preparing the Napoleon salad by boiling the eggs. While they are cooling, you need to cut the sausage into medium cubes, as well as the onion and mix everything in a salad bowl. Then the prepared apples should be peeled and grated using a coarse grater. Hard cheese also needs to be grated and added along with apples to the previously chopped ingredients.

Cooled eggs should be cut into large squares and poured into a salad bowl. Thanks to the grated cheese, the gourmet dish will taste creamy. You can add it in larger quantities, then the salad will be even lighter and airier.

Next, according to the recipe, the Napoleon salad needs to be coated well with mayonnaise and transferred to a culinary ring, giving the appetizer the shape of a cake. If desired, the top of the dish can be decorated with crushed crackers, turning it into fine crumbs. After this, you need to remove the culinary ring and sprinkle the sides of the salad cake with crumbs.

Layered salad with chicken and mushrooms

The appetizer salad can be prepared in different variations, using ready-made waffle or puff pastries as a layer. It all depends on the imagination of the cook. Prepared puff pastries can also be coated with any filling. In addition, each subsequent layer can have a different filling; the only rule is the combination of the ingredients used.

To prepare a layered salad with chicken and mushrooms you will need the following products:

  • chicken (chicken fillet) – 2 pcs.;
  • mushrooms – 0.5 kg;
  • eggs – 4 pcs.;
  • hard cheese – 100 g;
  • onion – 1 pc.;
  • salad cakes – 6 pcs.;
  • greens - 1 bunch.

First you need to cut the onions and mushrooms into small squares. After this, fry the chopped onions and mushrooms in a frying pan. The cooked chicken fillet should be boiled and chopped. Then you need to boil the eggs and grate them using a grater.

Now it’s time to start preparing the salad:

  • the first cake layer should be coated with mayonnaise and chopped fillet should be placed on it;
  • the second cake layer must be coated with sauce again and a layer of mushrooms should be added;
  • the next cake is a layer of mayonnaise and grated eggs;
  • in subsequent cakes you need to alternate the filling step by step;
  • The last layer of the salad cake should be coated with mayonnaise and sprinkled with grated cheese product.

After preparing the Napoleon salad, it must be placed in a preheated oven or microwave for 5-7 minutes. Greens can serve as decoration for the top layer of the dish.

Smoked chicken salad option

The salad cake with smoked chicken turns out fabulously delicious. To prepare this dish you will need the following ingredients:

  • smoked chicken (chicken legs) – 2 pcs.;
  • eggs – 3 pcs.;
  • cheese – 200 g;
  • salty cracker – 150 g;
  • apple - 1 pc.;
  • onion – 1 pc.

Since the salad is layered, you initially need to prepare a form or salad bowl, into which layers of appetizers with smoked chicken legs will later be placed. After preparing the dishes, you should start preparing the Napoleon salad. To do this, separate the chicken meat from the bone, cut it into cubes and place it in a prepared salad bowl. Each layer, and this one is no exception, must be coated with a thick layer of mayonnaise.

Then wash the onion, peel it, chop it finely and put it in the next layer after the chicken. The prepared cheese should be chopped using a grater and evenly laid in a layer on the onion. Wash the apple and peel it. Grate on a coarse grater and add as the next layer after the grated cheese, not forgetting to coat each layer with mayonnaise. The top layer of the dish is covered with boiled eggs, crushed with a grater.

The sides of the appetizer must be coated with mayonnaise, giving the salad-cake a finished look. The appetizing dish should be decorated with crushed cracker crumbs or decorated with grated cheese. After this Napoleon salad with chicken, you should put it in the refrigerator for a while to let it cool a little and soak.

Snack cake Napoleon with salmon

Ingredients for the dough:

  • 2-2.5 cups flour
  • pack of margarine for baking
  • 1 egg
  • half a glass of water
  • a pinch of salt

Dough recipe:

Sift the flour into a bowl. Beat the egg, salt and water, pour into a bowl with flour and knead into an elastic, smooth dough. Roll out into a thin layer, grease with softened margarine and roll into a roll. Place the resulting mixture in the refrigerator for about an hour.

Cut the roll into small pieces, roll each into a thin layer and bake the cakes at a temperature of 180-190 degrees. They should turn golden.

Filling ingredients:

  • 200-250 grams of Philadelphia cheese (can be replaced with any other cream cheese)
  • 200 grams of lightly salted salmon (you can also use smoked salmon)
  • 3 hard-boiled eggs
  • 2 tablespoons light mayonnaise
  • small bunch of green onions
  • bunch of dill
  • handful of frisee lettuce

Snack cake recipe:

Grate the eggs, mix with green onions and mayonnaise.

Grease the cakes with cream cheese and add the filling: one layer - salmon with dill, the second - eggs with onions and mayonnaise.

Make as many layers as you see fit. Cover the top crust with cheese and sprinkle with crumbs. Place the Napoleon snack cake in the refrigerator for several hours, ideally overnight.

Serve the cake on a flat platter lined with frisee lettuce.

Note. The snack cake dough recipe above is quite easy to prepare and can be said to be ideal for both layered desserts and layered snacks. If it is not possible to prepare the cakes yourself, you can use ready-made ones, which are available in a large assortment in supermarkets.

Salad with canned fish

The salad in this interpretation consists of several layers and has several fillings.

You will need the following products:

  • cheese – 100 g;
  • canned fish (saury) – 1 b.;
  • eggs – 4 pcs.;
  • salad cakes – 4 pcs.

To make this dish, you need to prepare each of the fillings. For the first one, grate the cheese using a grater and add 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise to the cheese mixture. The second filling is canned fish, which should be placed on a plate and mashed a little. For the third layer you will have to make the filling from eggs. They need to be chopped into small cubes, salted and mixed together with mayonnaise.

Then you should start decorating the salad cake:

  • Place the first filling on the crust - grated cheese and smooth it over the surface.
  • Place the prepared canned fish on the second cake layer.
  • Cover the top with the next cake layer and place chopped eggs on it, level the egg mass over the surface and cover with the next cake layer. On top and on all sides, the salad cake should be coated with mayonnaise.

The fish filling for the Napoleon appetizer salad can be varied, preferably made in its own juice.

Snack cake Napoleon with chicken liver pate and smoked chicken

Ingredients for the dough:

  • 250 grams of flour
  • 100 grams of butter
  • 4 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • teaspoon baking powder
  • a pinch of salt

Dough recipe:

Sift the flour, add baking powder, butter, sour cream, egg, salt and knead into a smooth dough. Place in the refrigerator for an hour.

Divide the dough into several parts, roll each into a thin circle and fry in a non-stick frying pan on both sides (pre-prick the cakes so as not to bubble). You can bake it in the oven, but it’s much faster in a frying pan.

Filling ingredients:

  • 300 grams of chicken liver
  • 1 onion
  • 1 small carrot
  • tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 smoked breasts
  • 1 fresh cucumber
  • handful of prunes
  • several walnuts
  • 4 tablespoons light mayonnaise
  • salt, pepper to taste

Filling recipe:

Fry the prepared chicken liver in olive oil along with onions and grated carrots, salt and pepper to taste. Cool and grind in a blender.

Cut chicken breasts, cucumber and prunes into thin strips, season with mayonnaise and mix.

Dry the nuts in a dry frying pan and lightly chop.

Assembling the cake:

Place liver pate on the bottom crust, cover with another crust, add a salad of chicken breast, cucumber and prunes, etc. Alternating the filling, we make as many layers as we think necessary.

The finished Napoleon snack cake should be left in the refrigerator for several hours.

Preparing Napoleon salad cake

To prepare a delicious dish, you should boil, peel and grate the carrots. Also grind processed cheese using a grater. Boil the prepared eggs and separate the yolks from the whites. Mash the tuna with a fork along with the juice.

After preparing the fillings, you need to start forming the layers:

  • coat the first cake layer with mayonnaise and spread mashed seafood (tuna) over the entire surface;
  • Coat the second cake layer with a layer of mayonnaise and sprinkle with grated yolks;
  • the next cake layer, coated with mayonnaise, should be sprinkled with carrots;
  • after this, another cake layer is placed, covered with processed cheese filling and a layer of mayonnaise;
  • the subsequent cake layer should be coated with mayonnaise and a second can of tuna should be placed on it;
  • The top cake, coated with mayonnaise, should be sprinkled with grated egg white.

If desired, you can decorate the salad cake with roses made from boiled carrots and green parsley in the form of leaves.

Various fillings

If you want more flavor richness, prepare a snack cake “Napoleon” with a can of ready-made cakes with this composition of ingredients. Take two cans - one with pink salmon in its juice, and the other with tuna in oil (it’s better to look for olive oil). Both fish are warmed up in different containers. Two hard-boiled eggs are grated mixed with two processed cheeses. A clove of garlic is pressed in there and a bunch of onions are finely crumbled. The assembly will be three-layer, the cakes are coated with mayonnaise. Sequence: pink salmon - cheese-egg paste - tuna. After soaking, a simply wonderful snack cake “Napoleon” with a can of ready-made cakes awaits you: the appetizing result of your labors looks at you from the photo. Of course, you can take fish other than the one specified. The main thing is that one type is in oil, and the other is in its own juice.
