Taking the classic recipe for American Caesar salad as a basis, today we will prepare its marine variation - with shrimp. Well, since we’ve taken this liberty, let’s take another one – add tomatoes. For the rest, we will try to adhere to traditions as much as possible. I previously wrote in a recipe for Caesar salad with chicken about what a real authentic recipe should be. Take a look, it might be interesting and useful. In the meantime, let's return to our sheep and shrimp.

How to fry shrimp in a frying pan
Frozen and fresh crustaceans are available for sale. When choosing, discard damaged ones, with dots and spots. Having too much ice is also undesirable.
Shrimp can be fried in any form. Cooking in the shell has big advantages: cooking is much faster and less troublesome, and the eaters themselves do the cleaning. The crustaceans come out juicier, since the shell will not allow their own juice to evaporate.
- If there is not much ice on the crustaceans, cook them without defrosting.
- Shrimp with a large supply of ice are first thawed and excess liquid removed. Otherwise, the shrimp will be cooked and will remain without a golden brown crust.
- Fry in a hot frying pan, and not, as is usually customary, in a hot pan.
- Ideally, it is better to use butter and olive oil, they will not splatter when they combine with the moisture from the shrimp. In addition, they do not have a distinct odor. But vegetable oils won’t spoil the dish either, just take ones without flavors.
How to defrost seafood
The best option is to keep it on a shelf in the refrigerator. To quickly defrost, dip them in boiling water for a few seconds, or simply scald them.
Caesar salad with shrimp and salmon
- Lettuce 200
- Salmon 100
- Shrimp 200
- Cherry tomatoes 50
- Quail eggs 2
- Bread 120
- Olive oil 20
- Parmesan 60
For the sauce:
- Yogurt 150
- Garlic 10
- Ready mustard
Cooking method
Wash the salad, let it dry a little, place it on a paper towel and leave for 5 minutes. Then we tear the leaves into pieces and place them on beautiful serving plates.
- Cut the salmon into cubes and place on top of the leaves. Boil the shrimp in lightly salted water, drain in a colander and after 5 minutes add to the rest of the ingredients. Since the tomatoes are small, cut them in half and add to the salad.
- Boil the quail eggs, cut them in half and put them in the salad.
- Cut the bread into cubes and fry in olive oil until golden brown (here, too, there was an innovation for me - I always used store-bought crackers, but, of course, they cannot compare with homemade ones and this makes the taste of the salad different, more noble or something).
And this is the sauce:
- Pour the yogurt into the blender bowl, add chopped garlic and mustard, chop everything.
- Pour the sauce over the salad, place croutons on top and sprinkle with grated Parmesan.
- Serve the salad and enjoy the result!

- Small, ordinary crustaceans are fried in 3-4 minutes.
- Large ones - 5-7 minutes.
- Boiled-frozen and pre-thawed ones take a little longer to fry, since the water must first evaporate before the frying process.
- Royal and tiger require longer frying - up to 10 minutes.
The product is considered ready if it loses its transparency and appears ruddy.
How to clean seafood
There are usually no problems with cleaning seafood. But you will have to master some technique.
- Defrost the crustaceans.
- Tear off the legs and head. Here is a nuance: grab the crustacean by the legs, fold them into a bun and pull. The head is also easily separated from the carcass.
