Herring under a fur coat without onions

To prepare this wonderful salad without onions, you must first boil the vegetables and eggs. Next, you can start cutting up the herring, since we will need boneless, skinless fillets cut into small cubes. The salad is laid out in layers on a beautiful dish. After cooking, the “fur coat” should be left in the refrigerator for 1 – 2 hours so that it is well soaked.

Ingredients:

  • Herring – 1 piece, large
  • Beets – 1 piece, large
  • Potatoes – 3 pcs, medium
  • Carrots – 1 piece, large
  • Eggs – 2 pcs.
  • Mayonnaise – 150 g (to taste)
  • Salt - to taste

Preparation:

  1. Boil potatoes in their jackets along with carrots, beets and eggs. Leave to cool.
  2. We peel the herring, remove the backbone and carefully remove all small bones. Cut the cleaned fillet into small pieces.
  3. Cut the potatoes into small cubes and place them in the first layer on a plate, preferably deep, so that the salad does not fall apart.
  4. Salt the potatoes and generously coat with mayonnaise.
  5. The next layer is herring. If desired, you can sprinkle with vegetable oil - it will be even tastier.
  6. Three carrots on a grater, preferably not too small. Spread in the next layer, add salt and coat with mayonnaise.
  7. We clean the boiled eggs and chop them into pieces. Place on a layer of carrots, add a little salt and coat with mayonnaise.
  8. We peel the beets and also grate them. Lay out the last layer and grease with mayonnaise.
  9. Decorate the salad with herbs and leave to soak in a cool place.

A very tasty recipe for herring under a fur coat with egg

This way of preparing our favorite salad is unusual. It would seem that all the ingredients are familiar to us. But they are prepared a little differently. This makes the taste completely different. But there is no doubt that it is very tasty.

We will need:

  • Herring fillet - 2 pcs.
  • Potatoes - 3 pcs.
  • Carrots - 2 pcs.
  • Beetroot - 1 pc.
  • Onion - 1-2 pcs.
  • Eggs - 4 -5 pcs.
  • Mayonnaise - 250 g
  • Salt - to taste

Let's start cooking by preparing the vegetables. Cut the onion into four parts and cut into thin quarters. Pour some vegetable oil into the frying pan and add chopped onion. Fry it over low heat until golden brown.

Wash and bake carrots, beets and potatoes in their skins in the oven in special baking bags until fully cooked. It's better to prepare them in advance.

Bake vegetables in different bags separately from each other for 40 minutes at 180°C. With this method of preparation, they retain their juiciness, bright color, and vitamins.

Peel the cooled vegetables and grate them individually on a coarse or medium grater. Place them on plates separately from each other.

Boil the eggs hard, cool and peel them. We divide them into yolks and whites. Mash the yolks with a fork and grate the whites on a coarse grater.

We clean the herring fillet from skin and bones. Cut the salted fish into small cubes.

Let's start assembling the salad. Let's do this using a form. Place it on a dish. And we start filling it out. Place the grated potatoes in the first layer. Lightly salt it and carefully level it. Cover the top with a mesh of mayonnaise.

Place finely chopped herring on the potatoes. Distribute over the entire surface and level.

Place the fried, cooled onions on the herring layer. It will give softness and tenderness to the dish and add special flavor notes.

The onion layer is juicy, so there is no point in lubricating it with mayonnaise. Place chopped yolks on it. Let's spread them out in an even layer.

Then it was the turn of the grated carrots. Place it in the mold and distribute it evenly over the entire surface. Let's salt it a little.

Now you need to add a gentle sauce to soak the layers. Apply a mesh of mayonnaise on top of the carrot layer.

To make a mayonnaise mesh, you can either use a special device in the form of a plastic bottle with a lid that has several holes, or you can make it yourself. You can cut off a small tip of the corner on the mayonnaise package itself, or put the sauce in a plastic bag and also cut off the corner. The hole should be small so that the pressure jet leaves a thin mark.

Now add the grated beets. Carefully spread it over the entire surface and level it. Lightly sprinkle with salt. Lubricate the top generously with mayonnaise. And no longer in a mesh, but in an even layer.

Pour grated protein onto mayonnaise. We distribute it over the surface. And now we send the salad to steep for 2-3 hours. You can cover the top with cling film to prevent the protein from airing.

After our food has steeped, we carefully remove it from the mold and decorate it with herbs or vegetables.

Now the food can be brought to the table. Fur coat lovers will appreciate its unusual and juicy flavors. It's the roasted vegetables that add those savory notes. A tender and appetizing dish will perfectly complement a festive table or Sunday gatherings.

Herring under a fur coat - recipe with cheese

Since ancient times, herring under a fur coat has been an integral attribute of Slavic cookbooks. This salad tempts with the affordable cost of ingredients and ease of preparation. In terms of taste, “shuba” is difficult to compare with other salads. Exquisite salted herring harmonizes perfectly with sweet beets, nutritious eggs, potatoes and carrots.

To prepare a salad with cheese, it is better to purchase full-fat mayonnaise or prepare your own sauce from vegetable oil, eggs and mustard. It is also better to choose fatty herring, moderately salted. In the original recipe for salad with cheese, you don’t need whole chicken eggs, but only the yolks. They are grated on a fine grater and placed as the top layer to decorate the salad.

Ingredients:

  • Herring (or fillet) – 1 piece, large
  • Potatoes – 2 pcs, medium
  • Onion – 1 piece, large
  • Carrots – 1 piece, large
  • Beetroot – 1 piece, sweet, large
  • Egg yolks – 2 pcs.
  • Hard cheese – 120 g
  • Mayonnaise or homemade sauce - to taste
  • Salt - to taste

Preparation:

  1. Boil potatoes, eggs and carrots together. Leave to cool.
  2. We fillet the herring, remove the bones, including small ones, and cut into cubes.
  3. We also cut the onion into cubes and marinate in water with the addition of 1 tbsp. spoons of vinegar (table, apple).
  4. Peel the cooled potatoes and cut them into cubes.
  5. Grate carrots and beets (do not mix).
  6. Take a large dish and place the first layer of chopped herring fillets.
  7. Squeeze the onion and place it on the herring. Lubricate with mayonnaise.
  8. The next layer will be chopped potatoes, which should also be greased with mayonnaise and slightly salted.
  9. Place grated carrots and coat with mayonnaise.
  10. Place the beets, salt to taste and add mayonnaise.
  11. Grate the cheese and place in the next layer. Coat with mayonnaise and level.
  12. Grate the yolks on a fine grater and sprinkle the salad in an even layer.

Leave the finished salad to soak for some time in a cold place, and then serve it to the table.
