  1. The water with the chicken must be salted. You don't need a lot of salt, about half a teaspoon. Salt is added to make the broth clear. During cooking, it is recommended to constantly skim off the foam.
  2. After skimming off the foam, add one small onion to the pan. There is no need to cut the onion. We also transfer finely chopped carrots and chopped sweet peppers there. We also place an uncut bunch of greens in the pan.
  3. After all the ingredients are added to the broth, let it simmer for an hour. And only then put the potatoes and lentils into the broth. You need to soak the lentils in water in advance. Once soaked, it should stand for two hours. If you don’t want to soak it in advance, you can do it differently. Pour four tablespoons of lentils, a little water and a pinch of soda into a bowl. Within twenty minutes the lentils will swell and open.
  4. After the lentils have swollen, they must be rinsed with running water, and after that the finished lentils are poured into the broth. Due to the fact that the lentils have swollen, they will cook very quickly. Lentils, like all legumes, are very healthy.
  5. Potatoes must be washed and peeled. After this, it must be cut into pieces. It is necessary to cut into the same pieces that you cut when preparing soups. Soak the chopped potatoes in water for one hour, this is done so that all the starch comes out of them. Thanks to this, the broth will be clear. If this is not done, the potatoes will release starch and the broth will be cloudy.
  6. After this, transfer the chopped potatoes into the broth. Place a bunch of greens and an onion from the broth. We will no longer need these ingredients.
  7. There is no need to pre-fry the onions and carrots before adding them to the chicken broth, as this will spoil it. Therefore, we put fresh vegetables in the broth. Next, we will wait until the lentils and potatoes are cooked and after that the soup will be ready.
