After preparing the dough, the pancakes are fried in a large amount of vegetable oil until crispy.

American hash brown is also made from grated potatoes, but only after grating the potato mixture is blanched and boiled in boiling water. After this, add a little finely chopped onion, potato starch, and salt to the potatoes. And they don’t add eggs, this is the second difference between hash brown and hash browns. And the third is form. Hash browns are thicker than hash browns. It must be said that the potato mixture is not always boiled, but by its shape and the absence of eggs you can easily distinguish potato pancakes from American breakfast cutlets.

Thus, hash brown is a cross between hashbrowns made from grated raw potatoes and potato cutlets made from boiled crushed potatoes.

What is hashbrown

Hash browns are an American dish whose preparation technology is similar to the well-known hash browns. For breakfast, residents of North America and Foggy Albion grate potatoes and fry them in the form of pancakes or cutlets. At the request of the hostess, add chopped onion into a paste. You will need:

  • ½ kg potatoes;
  • bulb;
  • egg;
  • 20 g flour;
  • salt;
  • breadcrumbs;
  • oil for frying.

To prepare hashbrown, like at McDonald's, we follow a simple algorithm:

  1. Peeled potatoes are grated and boiled for 3 minutes, after which they are discarded in a colander and distributed on a paper towel to remove excess liquid.
  2. The onion is rubbed and sent into the potato mass, where egg white, salt and flour are also added.
  3. The kneaded dough is used to form cutlets that are very well breaded.
  4. The hashbrown is deep-fried for 6 minutes on each side.

Important! If you omit the breading, you won’t be able to achieve any resemblance to McDonald’s products.

The most popular fast food dish is, of course, a burger or hamburger.

There is nothing complicated about making a hamburger. There are only rules, if followed, you will get an excellent dish for your family.

The centerpiece of the hamburger is the beef patty. To prepare the minced meat, add a little beef fat to make the cutlet juicy and soft.

For 5 hamburgers we need:

  • Sesame buns – 5 pieces;
  • Beef – 0.5 kg;
  • Beef fat – 100 grams;
  • Cheese slices 10 pieces;
  • Iceberg salad - ¼ head;
  • Tomato – 1 piece;
  • Pickled cucumbers – 5 pieces;
  • Red salad onion – 1 piece;
  • Mayonnaise;
  • Mustard;
  • Ketchup.

Let's prepare the minced meat for the cutlet.


To do this, grind the meat and fat in a meat grinder. You only need to add salt and pepper to the minced meat. Clean meat without onions, bread or other fillers will feel harmonious in a hamburger.

Mix the minced meat well, form cutlets with a diameter larger than the bun, no more than 1-2 cm thick. Place the cutlets in the refrigerator under cling film.

Whatever method you choose, this appetizer always turns out juicy and tasty. I used to use flour and store-bought breadcrumbs as breading. But just recently I tried a different cooking method and I liked it better.

For juicy chicken nuggets we need:

  • Chicken breast - 1 piece;
  • Not a fresh loaf - ½ bun;
  • Chicken egg – 2 pieces;
  • Vegetable oil – 2-3 tablespoons;
  • Butter – 30 grams;
  • Flour – 50 grams;
  • Milk – 30 grams;
  • Salt, pepper, turmeric, paprika - to taste.

Cut the chicken meat into small pieces approximately 10x4cm.

Salt, add pepper, paprika and add vegetable oil. Place the meat in a container, close the lid and put it in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours. During this time, the chicken will be marinated and soaked in spices.


Let's prepare the breading. Grate the stale, slightly hardened loaf on a coarse grater. The resulting crumbs will be quite large. Fry in melted butter in a frying pan. The bread will become crispy and fragrant.

Add a quarter teaspoon of turmeric to the crackers. This Indian spice will give the breading a golden color.

Break the eggs into a plate, add milk, stir with a fork until smooth. Let's start breading the chicken. Dip the pieces into flour, then into the egg and into the bread crumbs.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the nuggets at a short distance.

Bake in the oven at 200 degrees for about 20 minutes. 10-12 minutes after the start of baking, remove from the oven and turn over.

French fries like McDonald's - simple and fast (no fryer)

Crispy potatoes are prepared in different ways. You can use a deep fryer to completely immerse in hot oil. In order for potatoes to please you with both taste and color, it is enough to follow simple rules for cooking in a deep fryer:

  1. For cooking, take varieties with a low starch content.
  2. Cut the vegetable into even, elongated pieces.
  3. Before adding to the deep fryer, dry the potatoes thoroughly with paper or regular towels.
  4. Do not salt raw potatoes before frying; add salt only before serving.
  5. Control the degree of frying; if children eat the potatoes, they should not be allowed to turn brown.
  6. Take refined and deodorized vegetable oil.

But what should those who don’t have a deep fryer do? It doesn’t matter, there are recipes for making French fries, like McDonald’s, at home. In this case, there are two methods, but they differ in the final stages.

To prepare we need:

  • Potatoes with low starch content, large tubers – 2-3 kg;
  • Refined and deodorized vegetable oil – 0.5-1 liter;
  • Salt - to taste.

Peel the vegetables and cut into large strips.

Soak the cut pieces in cold water for 20 minutes. The water will become cloudy - this is starch coming out.

Remove from water and dry with paper towel. Let the potatoes sit until all the excess moisture is gone. If water remains, the hot oil will crackle and a crust will not form.

At this stage, you can boil the potatoes in boiling water for 3-4 minutes. After this, remove from boiling water and dry again. In this form, the potatoes can be placed in a freezer bag.

But you don't have to cook it. I tried different cooking options. And I preferred the option without pre-cooking.

Heat sunflower oil in a frying pan with high walls and a thick bottom. For these purposes, I take a pan with a non-stick coating and a thick bottom. A cauldron or duck pot is also suitable.

For frying, use refined, deodorized oil. This oil has its advantages.

  1. It does not give potatoes a specific taste and smell, like animal fat.
  2. This oil produces less burning.
  3. One of the disadvantages is that sunflower oil is rich in fatty acids from the omega-6 group. During heat treatment, the ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 increases tenfold, and this negatively affects the body.

But French fries aren't made every day. Therefore, if you please your children with delicious crispy potatoes a couple of times a month, and the rest of the time you feed them healthy food, there will be no terrible harm.

Dip the potatoes into the heated oil in small portions and fry them until a soft yellow-golden crust forms.

Place the finished French fries in a colander, at the bottom of which you first place a paper towel. Excess oil will be absorbed and the vegetables will remain dry.

Homemade chicken cheeseburger recipe

A delicious sandwich can also be made with a chicken cutlet inside. In fast food chains, this type of sandwich is called a chicken cutlet cheeseburger.

To prepare we need:

  • Buns – 2 pieces;
  • Chicken fillet – 1 piece;
  • Breadcrumbs – 50 grams;
  • Egg – 1 piece;
  • Cheese – 100 grams;
  • Lettuce leaves – 3-7 pieces;
  • Tomato – 1 piece;
  • Cucumber – 1 piece;
  • Sunflower oil – 30 ml;
  • Mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup - for sauce;
  • Salt and pepper to taste.

First, prepare the cutlet. To do this, chop the fillet into small pieces and grind with a blender.

Add one raw egg, salt, pepper to taste and breadcrumbs to the resulting minced meat.

With egg and bacon

Hash brown with egg and bacon is an English style breakfast option.

To feel like you are in a cozy cafe in the foggy capital of Great Britain while enjoying a cup of morning coffee, all you have to do is prepare a flavorful dish from:

  • 600 g potatoes;
  • 200 g onion;
  • 4 eggs;
  • 100 g bacon;
  • 15 g cane sugar;
  • stacks of vegetable oil;
  • salt, spices to taste.

Sequencing:

  1. Peeled potato tubers and onions are grated on a coarse grater, salted, seasoned and mixed with half the oil, after which the mass is squeezed out.
  2. The potato-onion mixture is placed in a hot frying pan with the remaining oil, leveled and fried on both sides for 3 minutes.
  3. Eggs are beaten on top, and then the container is placed in a hot oven (250 °C) for 10 minutes.
  4. At this time, bacon is cooked in the microwave oven, previously laid out on a plate and covered with a paper towel. This process will not take more than 3 minutes.

Another variation of the recipe for preparing an American dish from very simple ingredients:

  • 8 potatoes;
  • 50 g butter;
  • a pinch of salt and ground pepper.

Step-by-step instructions for creating overseas food:

  1. Place a large pan of water on the stove, into which pre-peeled potatoes are placed.
  2. The tubers are boiled for about 30 minutes until soft (but they should not fall apart).
  3. The water is drained, the potatoes are cooled and refrigerated overnight.

Features of preparing hashbrown

There are several subtleties that need to be observed if you want to get a dish from McDonald's and not Belarusian pancakes.

  1. Not just any potato will do. You need a variety that cooks well, but does not disintegrate when frying. Blue-eyed potatoes and potatoes with reddish skin are ideal.
  2. Under no circumstances should eggs be introduced into the “dough”.
  3. If you are making hashbrowns, the recipe may recommend raw or boiled potatoes. But in any case, before sculpting the “cutlets” you need to squeeze it well through a paper towel.
  4. Olive oil should not be used for frying. Unrefined corn is considered the best, but regular sunflower will also work. And some recipes require the use of butter.

  3. At this time, the pepper is chopped into cubes.
  4. The potatoes are squeezed out and mixed with salt, pepper and spices.
