In Soviet times, the main decoration of the table was meat salad. Well, what remains for those who were unable to purchase the coveted, scarce peas? And the people have always had a desire to diversify the festive table, always having the same set of products. And one of the variations of Olivier was the capital salad with meat. Almost the same set of products, only the greenness of the peas is replaced by the brightness of the carrots.
Of course, delving into historical references, you will definitely find that the main difference between the capital’s was the presence of chicken instead of sausage or beef. Well, who now adheres to a clear recipe when preparing any salad or appetizer? Let us dwell on the fact that the recipe for the Stolichny salad differs from the famous Olivier salad in that it requires the presence of carrots. And in this dish there is no place for any sausage, only the meat component: meat, tongue or heart.
Like everyone else these days, I try to use leftover ingredients in some new dish. So there was a use for several pieces of shish kebab. It won’t be able to feed a family of 4 people, but it’s perfect for a snack.
Preparing slices for a winter birthday celebration in nature

- Salt, add sugar. Continue boiling until the crystals dissolve.
- The liquid is cooled and the selected dye is added. Saffron will give the vegetable a rich yellow color, beet pieces - dark red, food coloring - whatever you like.
- Onions are placed in the jar. Pour in marinade.
- Add a teaspoon of vinegar, a few drops of oil, and a pinch of dried dill or parsley to a half-liter jar. The onion is pickled for 2-3 days.

The appetizer should be nutritious enough so that you can have a satisfying snack while the main course is being prepared. You need to prepare it at home, preferably in portions, so that it is convenient to eat in the cold.
Hot sandwiches
We will need:
- Bread – 20 slices
- Ham (sausage) – 150 gr.
- Hard cheese – 100 gr.
- Pickled cucumbers – 2 pcs.
- Walnuts – 50 grams
- Garlic – 2-3 cloves
- Mayonnaise – 3-4 table. Spoons
Preparing a flavorful snack
To make this appetizer, you can use any vegetable base. These can be slices of fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, fried eggplants, and zucchini. They are laid out on a flat plate, and then they begin to prepare the sauce. To do this, grate garlic cloves and hard cheese on a fine grater. Next, chopped herbs, sour cream and mayonnaise are added to the ingredients.
After mixing all the ingredients, you get a rather thick and aromatic mass, which is immediately laid on top of the vegetables. After this, they are served to the table along with hot shish kebab and a slice of bread.

After the vegetables are properly chopped, they begin to cook them. To do this, heat the olive oil in a thick-walled bowl, then add the onions and fry them for a few minutes.
As soon as the vegetable is browned, eggplants, carrots and sweet peppers are added to it. After salting and peppering the ingredients, fry them for about 5-10 minutes. Having achieved partial softness of the ingredients, crushed tomatoes, herbs and various spices are added to them.
After mixing the products with a spoon, cover them with a lid and simmer in their own juice for 10 minutes. During this time, all vegetables should become soft, forming a tasty and thick salad.
What to cook for a hot meal for a winter holiday
In nature, of course, you want hot dishes to be cooked over a fire. In winter, it is necessary to take into account the low air temperature and select dishes that do not take long to prepare.

Tomatoes marinated in Korean style
This dish perfectly complements the taste of barbecue.
Required ingredients:
- 1 kg of strong, ripe medium-sized tomatoes;
- 2 bell peppers;
- 3 garlic cloves;
- dried chili pepper (one pinch);
- table vinegar, table salt, ground coriander, sugar - to taste;
- half a glass of vegetable oil;
- parsley and onion (50 g each).
Cooking process:
- Sweet peppers are cleaned, cut into pieces, crushed with a blender or masher.
- Add grated garlic, coriander, hot chili, salt, vinegar and granulated sugar to the mixture.
- The ingredients are mixed. The greens are finely chopped. Tomatoes are cut into pieces.

We will need:
- 750 ml. – dry red wine
- 2 pcs. - Apples
- 2 pcs. — Oranges
- 2 pcs. – dried star anise
- 1 PC. - Nutmeg
- 2 pcs. – cloves
- 100 ml. - Water
- 50 gr. – honey (you can use sugar)
Preparation:
- Place all the spices prepared for mulled wine in a saucepan.
- Fill with water and boil for 10 minutes.
- Cut apples and oranges into large cubes.
- Pour wine, chopped fruit, and already infused spices into the pan.
- Set the heat to medium. Warm up the future mulled wine until small bubbles form.
- Under no circumstances should you boil it.
- Remove the drink from the heat and add honey. All is ready!
Cooking process
Usually barbecue snacks are prepared quite quickly. And Turkish salad is no exception to this. To prepare it, you need to use only white and sweet onions. It is peeled and very thinly cut into half rings. Next, place the vegetable in a deep plate, sprinkle with salt and rub thoroughly with your hands.
After adding drinking water to the onion, leave it in this form for several minutes. This is necessary so that all excess bitterness is removed from the vegetable.
After thoroughly washing the product several times, sumac is added to it. This spice should be added in large quantities. The taste of the snack will only benefit from this.
