French fries originated from American cooking and gained a foothold in other countries due to their special taste and interesting appearance. You can prepare it at home without making much effort. Rosy and truly delicious potatoes with sea salt and spices.

Ingredients:

  • Turmeric – 0.5 g
  • Potatoes - 700 g
  • Sea salt - to taste
  • Eggs - 2 pcs.
  • Paprika – 0.5 g

Preparation:

Cut the potatoes into strips and dry with a paper towel.

Mix eggs with salt, paprika, turmeric. Dip potatoes into mixture.

Place potatoes on parchment paper. Bake for half an hour and serve.

When and how did French fries appear?

There is no clear answer to this question, which means there are many versions.

According to one of them, it was Leonardo da Vinci who became the “father” of French fries.

His friend Amergio Vespucci, after traveling to the New World, brought several potato tubers, and as a result, Leonardo began to grow them himself and then use them in preparing various dishes.

Constantly experimenting, he once fried thin slices in hot olive oil.

It is quite possible that these were the first French fries.

According to another legend, the very famous chef George Crum worked in the restaurant of one of the New York hotels.

Absolutely all visitors liked his dishes, but a certain railroad magnate Cornelius Vanderbelti constantly criticized them.

One day he returned an order three times, complaining about the coarsely cut potato slices, which simply infuriated the chef.

Krum, wanting to annoy a wealthy client, cut the potato tubers as thinly as possible and fried them in hot oil.

But the revenge plan fell through when Cornelius was satisfied for the first time.
