Cooking method

Rinse and chop the ingredients in advance before you start cooking stewed cabbage with onions and carrots.

Rinse the cabbage thoroughly. Remove unedible leaves. Then chop it finely. Also peel and rinse the carrots. Grate on a coarse grater. Peel several onions and chop into thin half rings.

Heat the frying pan over a fire and season it with vegetable oil. When it is hot, add the onion and sauté until translucent. Stir the onions periodically so that they are fried on all sides and release aromatic juice. The onion should just start to brown, after which you can add carrots to it. After 3-5 minutes, when the carrots are cooked through, add the cabbage. Fill it 2/3 with water and leave to simmer for 40 minutes under the lid.

After the specified time, add spices, salt, seasonings and leave to simmer for another 15 minutes without a lid to evaporate excess moisture.

Here is a simple recipe for making stewed cabbage with carrots.

Stewed cabbage with sausages in a pan

This is probably the most classic of all stewed cabbage options. Sausages sometimes appear in the refrigerator, but cabbage and a pot are not a problem. In the end, everything will turn out simply tasty and satisfying.

Will need;

  • cabbage (and here you can see for yourself which one to cook, you can use fresh or pickled cabbage)
  • sausages (good...),
  • bulb onions,
  • tomato paste,
  • ground black pepper,
  • vegetable oil for frying and of course salt

Preparation:

Peel the onion and cut into slices. We chop the cabbage, we need to try, preferably thinner. Take a thick-walled pan, pour a little vegetable oil, start frying the onion until yellow. Place the chopped cabbage in a container, following the onion. Here you need to add more oil.

Mix carefully so that it doesn’t spill out, put on the lid and leave this mass to simmer for about 15 minutes. Time has passed, now you need to salt and pepper the vegetables, pour in the tomato paste, stir and put the lid back on, let it cook.

The cabbage reaches its condition, and at this time, cut the sausages into circles and fry them in a separate frying pan, adding oil accordingly. The sausages should be browned until crisp.

And here is the final stage, put the fried sausages into the cabbage simmering over low heat and mix everything. Just a few more minutes on the fire, under the lid, and the stewed cabbage with sausages is ready! This dish will be delicious served with mashed potatoes, hot or cold.
