This dish is called so because it was first prepared by a French chef. But it appeared in Russia and quickly became popular. Its peculiarity is that the products are stacked in layers, sprinkled with cheese and baked. Traditionally, meat is cooked in the French oven; portions of chicken fillet can be made in a frying pan.
Now there are many recipes for its preparation. It is best to make French-style meat from pork, but you can use veal or chicken. Most often this dish is made with champignons or oyster mushrooms. They can be added raw or fried. Additionally, various vegetables, sauces, and seasonings are added.
Classic recipe with tomatoes
This is the most common recipe; the dish is made from pork, mushrooms and cheese. It turns out very juicy and tasty. It can be served separately or with any side dish. Pork in French is also suitable for a festive table.
Ingredients:
- 600 g pork;
- 500 g champignons;
- 2 onions;
- 4 tomatoes;
- 150 g cheese;
- 200 g mayonnaise;
- parsley dill.
Traditionally, French-style meat is made with tomatoes and mushrooms. This dish is easy to prepare. You can make it in portioned pieces or in one layer. The cooking process is no different in both cases.
- Slice the pork across the grain into 1 cm slices.
- Salt, add spices, mix well.
- Wrap each piece in film, beat with a culinary hammer or the back of a knife.
- Place the chops tightly in a greased baking sheet.
- Cut the onion into thin half rings and place in the next layer.
- Fry the champignons in vegetable oil and place on the onion.
- Cut the tomatoes into thick half rings and place on top. Add salt and make a mesh out of half the mayonnaise.
- The next layer is chopped greens.
- Top with grated cheese and spread with remaining mayonnaise.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 200˚ for 40-60 minutes.
With pickled onions
This dish has an unusual spicy taste. The sour marinade permeates not only the onions, but also the meat, so it turns out juicy. This dish goes well with mashed potatoes.
Ingredients:
- 700 g pork;
- 500 g onions;
- 400 g fresh champignons;
- 200 g cheese;
- 50 ml soy sauce;
- 50 ml apple cider vinegar;
- 50 ml vegetable oil;
- mayonnaise, salt, pepper.
Before placing food on a baking sheet, you need to marinate the onions. To do this, mix vinegar, oil and sauce, pour onion rings. Place a saucer and a weight on it. Leave for 40 minutes. Pork slices need to be beaten, salt and pepper. Place ingredients on a baking sheet in this order:
- Onions removed from marinade.
- Chops, pour marinade over them.
- Then - thin slices of champignons, salt and pepper, grease with mayonnaise.
- Sprinkle with cheese.
With potatoes
French-style potatoes with meat and mushrooms are delicious. This is a complete dinner or lunch and can be eaten without a side dish. It is easy to prepare and the ingredients are available all year round. You can take any meat: pork, beef or chicken. Wild mushrooms are suitable, but it is better to make this dish with champignons.
Ingredients:
- 400 g meat;
- 400 g champignons;
- 400 g potatoes;
- 2 small onions;
- 150 g cheese.
Before placing in the mold, the meat must be cut into small cubes, mixed with salt and spices. Leave for 10-15 minutes. During this time, fry the mushrooms until golden brown. After this, place the products in layers on a greased baking sheet:
- Meat.
- Onion cut into half rings.
- Champignon.
- Potatoes, cut into thin slices and salted.
- Mayonnaise.
- Cheese.
Pork with champignons in cream sauce
Here is another good recipe for cooking meat with mushrooms - pork with champignons, stewed in cream. The men in your family will definitely appreciate this dish.
Total cooking time: 40-45 minutes. Number of ready-made servings: 4. Necessary kitchen utensils: frying pan with a lid, cutting board, food containers, knife.

Step-by-step preparation
- Wash and then dry 450-550 grams of champignons and 300-340 grams of pork.
- Cut all ingredients (1 onion, meat and mushrooms) into small pieces.
- Pour about 2 tablespoons of oil into the pan and place on the stove to heat up. Place the meat in the pan and fry until browned, stirring occasionally.
- Add onion to the meat and stir. Fry until the onions are golden brown. When the onions are fried, add the mushrooms and mix well. Pepper, salt, cover and simmer for about ten minutes.
- Remove the lid, stir again and pour in cream (150-180 ml).
- Cover the pan with a lid again and leave to simmer over low heat for 8-12 minutes. The appetizing dish is ready.
You can serve it with any side dish, especially good with mashed potatoes or buckwheat. Vegetables are also amazing.

Veal Oryol style
This is also meat and potatoes, which is cooked in the oven with mushrooms. But it is made with bechamel sauce. Therefore, it turns out very juicy, aromatic and satisfying.
Ingredients:
- 1 kg of veal;
- 6 potatoes;
- 300 g champignons;
- 4 onions;
- 200 g cheese;
- 200 ml cream 20%;
- 50 g butter;
- 2 tbsp. l. flour.
First you need to cook the bechamel sauce. To do this, melt the butter in a saucepan and add flour. Gradually pour in the cream, stirring constantly. Cook for 5-10 minutes until thickened. Add salt and spices. Cut the veal into pieces, champignons and potatoes into thin slices, onion into half rings. Place in pan, salt and pepper each layer. The layers go in this order:
- Veal.
- Onion.
- Potato.
- Mushrooms.
Pour the sauce over everything and place in a preheated oven. After half an hour, remove, sprinkle with cheese and bake for another 20-30 minutes.
Pork with mushrooms covered with cheese crust in the oven
This delicious second course is prepared in the oven, which preserves all the nutritional properties of the meat.
Products:
- 600 g pork;
- ½ kg of champignons;
- 1 onion;
- 150 g of any hard cheese;
- 3 tbsp. mayonnaise (or thick sour cream);
- salt and pepper;
- 2 tbsp. rast. oils
Time: 1 hour
Calorie content per 100 g: 190 kcal.
It is better to take pork already cut into medallions, or cut the steaks yourself. The meat is washed under running cold water and dried. Using milk, make a chop out of each steak (you can wrap the meat in cling film before hammering it).
Mushrooms and onions are chopped and fried in a frying pan with butter until the onions are golden and soft. Salt and pepper are added. The meat is also salted and sprinkled with pepper.
Lightly grease a frying pan with oil and place the chops on it. When the onions and mushrooms have cooled, the meat is greased with mayonnaise or sour cream and covered evenly with mushrooms and onions.
The dish is sprinkled with coarsely grated cheese and placed in a preheated oven (180-190 degrees) for 40 minutes. During this time, the meat should be cooked, and the cheese should melt and cover it with a golden crust.
With melted cheese
To make this dish more tender and juicy, you can use the recipe with melted cheese. It contains garlic, so the meat is spicy and aromatic.
Ingredients:
- 500 g pork;
- 20 g mushrooms;
- 1 onion;
- 3 cloves of garlic;
- 150 g hard cheese;
- 1 processed cheese;
- sour cream.
The cooking process is slightly different from the classic one, since for lubrication you need to make a dressing separately. To do this, grate the processed cheese, chop the herbs, add salt and mix with sour cream. Pre-beat the pork, add salt and pepper. Fry the mushrooms. Then follow the step-by-step recipe:
- Place onion half rings on a baking sheet.
- Then – chops, brush with sour cream or mayonnaise.
- Mix mushrooms with processed cheese paste and place on top.
- Sprinkle with grated hard cheese.
Fragrant baked pork bacon with mushrooms
Are you planning to invite your close friends over a bottle of wine at the end of the work week, but you don’t have the energy to prepare the delicacies? Don’t worry, you can prepare a gorgeous dish - pork with champignons in the oven, spending a minimum of effort and time on its preparation. The result will be stunning. Just on the way home, stop by the nearest supermarket and buy everything you need.
We will need:
Ingredients:
- champignons – 14 – 16 pieces of large mushrooms;
- raw smoked bacon (sliced in packaging) – so that the quantity matches the number of mushrooms;
- hard cheese – 150 gr.;
- garlic – 3 cloves;
- butter – 70 gr.;
- cream – 3 tbsp. spoons.
Cooking process:
- We wash and clean the mushrooms, carefully remove the stem, and remove the membranes with a small coffee spoon. We put the legs aside.
- Finely chop the legs, grate the cheese, knead the butter, mix it with crushed garlic. Combine everything, mix thoroughly in a separate bowl, add cream. You can add a little salt and pepper (to your taste, given that the bacon is quite salty).
- Fill the mushroom caps with the resulting filling and compact well.
- Wrap a strip of bacon around the mushroom. You should get champignons in bacon - 14 - 16 pieces.
- We place our preparations in a baking dish. We will bake them in an oven heated to 200 degrees.
- Bake the mushrooms in bacon in the oven for 15 – 20 minutes.
- Decorate the finished dish with chopped dill.
An ideal side dish would be a vegetable salad or grilled vegetables.

- 300 g champignons;

- salt, pepper, mayonnaise.
If pork is used, the slices need to be beaten. Just cut the chicken into pieces. Fry mushrooms in oil with onions. Cut the pineapples into small cubes and grate the cheese. Layer in layers:
- Meat.
- Mushrooms with onions.
- Pineapples.
- Mayonnaise.
- Cheese.
Fry meat with mushrooms in a frying pan
Nutritionists say that fried foods are harmful. Perhaps this is so, but we do not allow ourselves such luxury very often, and therefore sometimes it is quite permissible.
For fried pork with champignons, take tenderloin or ribs. The main thing is that the meat is not old, has a pleasant color and smell.
- meat – 500 gr.;
- mushrooms – 350 gr.;
- onion – 1-2 heads;
- vegetable oil – 2-3 tbsp. spoons;
- salt, pepper - to taste.
We wash the semi-finished meat product, dry it, and remove coarse veins. Cut into small pieces. Heat a small amount of oil and place pieces of tenderloin or meat ribs in a frying pan. Fry until golden brown. Set the meat aside for the time being.
For now, let's move on to other products. Cut the prepared mushrooms crosswise into 4 parts, and the onion into half rings. Fry in a frying pan in oil for 5-7 minutes.
Combine the contents of both frying pans, continue frying until done, and at the very end add salt and pepper. Cover with a lid and simmer for 5 minutes over low heat.
Serve the finished dish with any side dish that your family loves.

Ingredients:
- about 1 kilo of pork neck;
- half a kilo of mushrooms;
- bulb;
- three tablespoons of sour cream (not fat);
- four spoons of mayonnaise.
Cooking method:
- Cut the meat into pieces no thicker than one centimeter. Beat and marinate in mayonnaise with spices for two hours.
- For the filling, fry the onion until golden, then add chopped mushrooms to the vegetable and fry until the liquid evaporates. Then mix the mushroom frying with sour cream.
- Place a spoonful of filling on each piece of meat. We place it on the edge, wrap it in a roll and transfer the finished portions to a baking sheet.
- Coat the surface of the products with mayonnaise and place in the oven for 45 minutes (temperature – 180 °C).
