Honey cake according to the classic recipe with sour cream
In the traditional version, the treat is prepared with sour cream. But our first cooking technology slightly changes the original recipe, adding berry jam to the baked goods. However, dessert only benefits from such a find!
And if you are a fan of homemade baking, then be sure to try baking airy buns!
Ingredients:
For the test:
- Butter - 150 gr.;
- Sour cream - 4 tbsp. spoons;
- Egg - 1 pc.;
- Soda - 2 teaspoons;
- Sugar - 150 gr.;
- Honey - 3 tbsp. spoons;
- Flour - 0.6 kg.
For cream:
- Sour cream (25-30% fat) - 600 gr.;
- Sugar - 1 glass.
In addition, to grease the cakes we will need 6 tbsp. l. berry jam with sourness.
Cooking method:
1. Break an egg into a saucepan. Follow it with baking soda and sugar. Drizzle everything with honey and sour cream. Mix and add a piece of butter into the resulting mass. Place the container in a water bath and keep it there for 20 minutes, stirring the contents from time to time.
2. Next, add flour to the slightly cooled mass. If you have kitchen appliances that can help with stirring, great.
3. The consistency of the dough will be the same as in the photo. You may find it too liquid and want to add flour - no need. Just put the dough in the refrigerator for 15 minutes: during this time it will thicken and be much denser.
4. Another important component of our delicacy is sour cream.
5. Prepare it as follows. Mix sugar with sour cream and beat until it reaches a thick consistency.
The main thing is not to overdo it, otherwise the sour cream may simply turn into butter.
6. The dough will be ready by then, take it out of the cold. And then cut into 6 parts.
7. Roll out each piece into a round cake approximately 3 mm thick. Using a fork, make holes throughout the entire area of the cake.
8. Bake the cakes for 6-8 minutes at 180 degrees.
9. They will rise and turn out so rosy and appetizing. There is no need to bake them until crispy - we need the cakes to be soft. By the way, the remaining scraps will also need to be baked: we will use them later for decoration.
10. Grease the first cake layer with berry jam.
11. And then cover with a thick layer of sour cream.
12. Repeat the same with the rest of the cakes, placing them on top of each other. Finally, coat the entire surface of the product with cream.
13. Using a blender, turn the dough scraps into crumbs.
14. And we decorate our creation with it.
15. The dessert is completely ready. Now you can serve it to the table!

Honey cake – it couldn’t be simpler!
Oh, how many recipes there are for this delicious honey cake today. Probably, as many housewives as there are, there are as many recipes. I also tried a lot, but to be honest, I was captivated by this recipe for honey cake, which I described in detail in this article. It comes first for me and I make custom honey cakes from it.
But recently I tried to whip up a honey cake. There was practically no time left for baking and I was almost upset. But then an idea came to me, why don’t I bake honey cakes in a frying pan? After all, I’ve been planning for a long time and here you are welcome. Girls, it's so easy and simple that there are no words. The cakes bake quickly, and you can coat them with cream immediately after baking. I really liked this recipe and will definitely be coming back to it very soon. Join me, below I will tell you in detail how I prepared the cake layers for the honey cake.
Preparing the dough and baking the cakes does not take much time. It takes exactly the same amount of time to cool the kneaded dough. But this is necessary, which many housewives do not look upon with approval. In this way, a stiff dough is kneaded, which makes the cakes hard and rubbery. Dear housewives, please have a little patience and your honey cake will melt in your mouth. Isn't it nice to receive praise from family or guests?
1. Everything is elementary simple: take an ordinary saucepan with a volume of 2 liters or less, pour tap water into it and put it on fire. As you may have guessed, we need a water bath. The main thing is that you can easily place another bowl of a larger size on top of the pan. Fill the top bowl with the following products: margarine, sugar and honey.
We bring them to a liquid, homogeneous state. Then remove the bowl from the heat and add baking soda. Mix well and leave for a couple of minutes. The soda will react with the honey and begin to foam, increasing in volume.
2. Then add one egg at a time, beating with a mixer after each one. Next, add the sifted flour, continuing to beat with the mixer.
The consistency of the dough is like very thick sour cream. Now add sour cream and mix well again. All our dough for honey cakes is ready. Someone may say, but the dough is liquid? Yes, this is exactly how the dough should be. But don’t worry, after cooling your dough will become denser and you can easily roll it out to the desired diameter. In the meantime, take a dry bowl, sprinkle it with flour and fill it with our kneaded dough. It is advisable to cover the container with the dough tightly, and I do this using cling film.
We put our honey dough in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. If this is a lot of time for you, then I advise you to make the dough in the evening and bake the cakes in the morning.
During this time, you can have time to prepare any of your favorite cream. You could also make custard. But it seems to me that sour cream is suitable for these honey cakes. Making sour cream couldn't be easier. Beat sour cream with sugar, vanilla and cool.
3. Divide the chilled dough into 6 parts. Each ball of dough weighed approximately 120 grams.
To make the dough easier to roll out, I recommend keeping these balls in the refrigerator. Sprinkle the table or your work surface with flour and roll out the first ball of dough, keeping the rest in the refrigerator. While we are rolling out the dough, place the frying pan on the heat. Carefully transfer the rolled out layer of dough to a hot, dry frying pan.
To completely fill the area of the pan with dough, I press the dough with my fingers, as if slapping it. The dough is very docile and can be easily directed in the desired direction. Bake the dough over medium heat for 1 minute on each side. Don't fry too much!
Baked cakes can be given a more even shape. To do this, immediately after baking, place a plate on the cake and use a knife to cut off the protrusions. These scraps will be used to top the cake.
The recipe for honey cake in a frying pan is nearing its end. The honey cakes are ready, you can coat them with cream.
To ensure that the cakes float on the plate, I advise you to grease the back side of the first cake with a small amount of cream.
Generously brush each honey cake. If desired, you can add nuts. The entire honey cake coated with cream can be completely sprinkled with chopped trimmings. But I only sprinkled the sides of the cake with honey cake, and the top with cocoa powder.
To make the honey cake soak faster, leave it at room temperature. And half an hour before serving, place in the refrigerator.
How do you like this recipe for honey cake in a frying pan? The cake turned out soft, tender and very tasty. I advise you to cook it, you definitely won’t remain indifferent.
Enjoy your tea party and see you new recipes on our delicious homemade recipes website.
Best regards, Alyonka!
