Halloween celebration
The Halloween holiday is a masquerade, where everyone present dresses up in original costumes of terrible mystical characters and has fun according to a scenario replete with all sorts of surprises and scary stories. Fun competitions and attractions are organized in which both adults and children participate.
“Beggars” will definitely come to this terribly fun party and without hesitation they will beg for treats! Special Halloween sweets are reserved for them. Creepy pranks are prepared for guests and they are treated to ominous dishes. The main thing is not to overdo it, so as not to scare any of the children.
The Halloween pumpkin is the main symbol of the holiday. According to legend, the Irishman Jack, getting out of hell, made a jack-o'-lantern and placed burning coals from the inferno inside. This tradition has survived to this day. In countries where the holiday is celebrated en masse, even small children know how to make a Halloween pumpkin.
Jack Lantern is made 3 days before the holiday. The most beautiful and bright pumpkin with a smooth surface is washed and allowed to dry. Next, use a marker to draw lines along which it will be easy to make cuts. If necessary, use a drawing template.
Creating a lamp begins with cleaning the pumpkin. To do this, cut out the upper part along with the tail so that the cut is cone-shaped. Remove the lid and cut off excess pulp. Using a spoon or a special tool, remove the seeds and pulp from the pumpkin, leaving the walls 3 cm thick.
Using a sharp knife, cut out a pattern along the contour of the template and place a candle or lantern inside the pumpkin. The Jack-O-Lantern is ready! He will protect the house from demons and evil spirits on October 31st!
Halloween food plays an important role in the party program. After wild fun in the fresh air, guests will want to refresh themselves. Dishes for Halloween are not prepared according to special recipes, but the most delicious, simple dishes that children love are chosen. The main thing is to decorate the treats with different slightly scary themed things.
Avant Garde Halloween
Dear masters, I present to you a collection of Halloween dishes! When I saw the name of the week’s theme “Avant-garde”, I realized that it fits this word very well: the dishes are bright, contrasting, images and figures that are unusual for the average Russian to understand, very bold combinations! And although we do not celebrate this very, very extraordinary holiday, I hope that some of the techniques I came up with when creating these dishes will be useful to you.
So let's get started!
1. drinks “We don’t drink from boring containers!” We take some thin-walled glasses and glue pre-cut faces or nori figures onto them. Moisten the nori with water and apply it to the glass and pour in your favorite bright juice. I saw the idea from one girl; she stuck black paper figures on the glasses. I decided to do it easier. The nori sheet is very pliable and quickly gets wet from water, becoming like a transfer film. It washes off easily when washing dishes!
Here in the glass is tomato juice with celery. It comes with a corresponding appetizer - mozzarella or a quail egg on a skewer, with a nori pupil in the middle (obtained using a hole punch)!
And here is peach juice, topped with sweet straw seeds with marzipan and white chocolate.
2. Cold appetizers
In the photo below - “Friendly ghosts from daikon”. Method of preparation: peel the daikon, cut into circles, cut conveniently with carving knives. Usage options: stick on toothpicks/skewers and play like with dolls or add salt, pour aromatic sunflower oil and eat. Before using it for its intended purpose, it can be used as a table decoration and float in cold water (can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days - like all carving compositions). |
Halloween yogurt. Ingredients: homemade unsweetened yogurt (you can add garlic, salt, herbs - there will be a sauce), roasted sesame seeds, nori pug.
Pumpkin stand for canapés/candles and mini mozzarella eyes. Cheese can and should be dipped in green pesto (sorry, I didn’t have it that day), or ketchup! There was a competition on the culinary website to see who could cut out the best pumpkin, but I got so lazy that I came up with a cube like this and stuck on a monster pug made of nori. Very convenient, you can put a tablet candle on top.
Bento lunch "Memento mori" . I saw a photo on Yandex or Google, then I remembered the recipe for vegetarian fish. The puzzle is complete! So, we take Adyghe cheese, cut out a circle the size of a cutlet, wrap it in a soaked sheet of nori, seal it well, and fry it in melted butter. Place briefly on a paper towel to absorb excess. Place on a lettuce leaf, decorate with stripes and eyes of the same Adyghe cheese, put cherry tomatoes and onions next to it
Vegetarian Mummy Bento Lunch . The mummy figurine itself is non-vegetarian - Olivier-type salad, sprinkled with grated daikon. Lined with beans and peas from the steamer + greens.
3. And, of course, desserts ! Dessert “Smile or die!” Very simple. Apples and pine nuts!
Dessert “Sugar Bones”. You need a good store-bought sweet straw. I managed to buy GOST, which is delicious. We break each one into segments. I made the cartilages from white marzipan, and when it dried, I painted it with white chocolate melted in a water bath. Very tasty stuff...
I prepared a collection of recipes based on the Yandex and Google images I saw and presented them in November 2011 on a culinary website as part of a flash mob dedicated to Halloween.
And, anticipating the reaction of some comrades - this method of serving is not necessary for you personally, I showed it as an example - how you can play with shapes, products, and whether images are acceptable or not - decide for yourself individually, choose your own, again! for us it was an experiment, we did it for the first time, I really liked it, such hooliganism!…
Thank you for attention!

Pumpkin dishes
Halloween menus must include pumpkin dishes. Here are some examples of such dishes.
Stuffed pumpkin
The main treat can be stuffed pumpkin. The filling is prepared from pulp stewed in sour cream, with the addition of rice, cheese, and vegetables. For sweet pumpkin, add boiled rice, dried fruits, honey, vanilla or cinnamon to the baked pulp, pour in cream, cover with a lid with a tail and bake in the oven for an hour.
Cottage cheese casserole with pumpkin
A very tasty Halloween food is obtained by baking pumpkin pulp with cottage cheese, raisins, and nuts in the oven. The finished dish can be cut into squares, put a “ghost” made of whipped sour cream on top, and draw eyes and a mouth on it with chocolate. If you add garlic and herbs to the recipe, you will get a fragrant casserole, to which you can make a “bloody” tomato sauce.
Pumpkin pie
A pumpkin pie decorated with a pattern of spiders and cobwebs will look original. A butter dough is prepared for it, adding grated pumpkin, and baked in the oven. The cooled cake is filled with brown icing, and a web is drawn with a stick using white icing. Chocolate spiders are planted on it.
How to choose a children's menu for Halloween
To throw a Halloween party for kids, you'll need entertainment, spooky decorations for the venue, and, of course, spooky treats. Children will definitely get hungry after games and competitions, which is where themed goodies will come in handy. Take care of the children's holiday table in advance - order catering or prepare the dishes yourself.
A children's Halloween menu should match the mystical atmosphere of the holiday, but at the same time remain childish and not too scary. You shouldn’t go to extremes and offer children adult creepy treats. Keep themed dishes fun and a little scary.
Snacks of all kinds are very popular at Halloween, which is ideal for children's parties. Everyone knows that children do not like long banquet gatherings, but they like buffet dishes; after having a snack, they run off to play. It doesn't have to be junk food. Halloween is perfect for creating themed dishes from healthy products, because children love unusual presentation of food.
Other Halloween Recipes
Halloween recipes, in addition to pumpkin dishes, consist of snacks, and they are eaten without sitting down at the table.
"Witch's Broom"
In keeping with the spirit of the party, the Witch's Broom appetizer is made from a slice of cheese wrapped around a salted straw and tied with a thin sprig of dill.
Egg dishes
Interesting Halloween dishes are made from stuffed eggs with a variety of fillings, decorated with “spiders” of black olives. Bloody eyes are made from eggs using tomato sauce, and the pupils are made from beets or olives.
Sausage dishes
Sausages come in a variety of varieties as a mouth-watering Halloween food. Sausages with “worms” are obtained by cutting them into several parts, piercing the spaghetti and boiling. Sausages wrapped in a strip of dough and baked in the oven will resemble mummies. You can also boil them and decorate them with “marigolds” - you get “witch fingers”. You can make a “snake” from a long sausage by making eyes from black olives and a tongue from red pepper.
Sweet pepper faces
Faces are cut out of sweet peppers, then stuffed with a variety of salads.
"Wings of Bats"
Children will love the “bat wings” made from pita bread. “Wings” are cut out using a stencil, coated with sauce to taste and baked in the oven until crispy. “Bat wings” can be used to decorate salads and sandwiches.
