Stevia is a natural sugar substitute that is extracted from a perennial herb . In addition to sweetness, it contains useful substances: essential oils, vitamins E, B, C and amino acids. Sold in stores as a liquid extract or powder.
The amount of stevia on the tip of a teaspoon will completely replace several tablespoons of granulated sugar, since it is 30-40 times sweeter than sugar. But the substitute is a little bitter, especially in baked goods. If you overdo it with stevia, you won’t achieve much sweetness, but the bitterness will appear much stronger.
Stevia can cause a sharp drop in blood pressure, an allergic reaction or diarrhea. This sugar substitute should be added to your diet gradually.
Step-by-step preparation
- Pour 230 g of flakes into a bowl and pour in 250 ml of kefir. Mix everything, cover with a lid and leave the oatmeal to swell for 20 minutes. The mixture should not be too liquid. If this happens, add a little more flakes.
- Grate 1 apple along with the peel on a coarse grater.
- Peel 1 banana and mash it in a bowl with a fork or potato masher.
- Add the apple and banana to the oatmeal-kefir mixture and mix everything until smooth.
- Pour 45 g of seeds and a third of a teaspoon of stevia into the dough, mix everything again.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment and place the cookies on it. The dough does not rise during baking, so you can spread it more densely.
- Bake in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 30 minutes. From time to time you need to check the cookies in the oven so that they do not burn.

It was about these pp-cookies that I talked about on my Instagram, when I said that the children devoured them, that they were cracking behind their ears and then, for a week, they probably asked to make more.
To be honest, I didn’t expect this from children who were fed pancakes, pies and cakes. I was sure that at the age of 6-7 years their tastes were quite heavily blurred by all sorts of sweeteners, flavorings and other nonsense. It turned out not. Even children who eat sweets on a daily basis can appreciate healthy treats.
So, I will not stop repeating to new parents: do not rush to introduce sugar to your children. Let them grow up and decide for themselves whether they want to eat the way we eat, or choose the path of a healthy lifestyle.
After all, remember, when you and I were children, we didn’t have such a huge choice. At least my brother and I, until a certain age (up to about 10 years old), had mostly preserves and jams from sweets. Sugar consumption was several times less than that of modern children. And there certainly weren’t any chemicals like monosodium glutamate, titanium dioxide and other flavor and color enhancers.

For this recipe we will need:
Makes 15 cookies
- oat flakes, finely ground - 100 gr.
- whole grain flour - 90 gr.
- baking powder - 1.5 tsp.
- ground cinnamon - 1.5 tsp.
- salt - 1 pinch
- coconut oil or butter, melted - 28 gr.
- egg, room temperature - 1 pc.
- vanilla essence - 1 tsp.
- honey or maple syrup - 120 gr.
- raisins or chocolate - 40 gr.
If you only have regular oatmeal, lightly grind it in a blender with a few pulses.
Preparation:
- In a bowl, mix oatmeal, whole wheat flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.
- In another deep bowl, mix melted and cooled butter, egg and vanilla essence. Then add honey and mix again.
- Lastly, stir in the raisins or chopped chocolate and let the mixture sit for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 160º and line a baking sheet with baking paper or a silicone mat.
- With hands slightly moistened with water, form the dough into 15 identical balls slightly larger than a nut and press lightly with your hand.
- Bake oatmeal cookies in a preheated oven for 11-14 minutes. Then cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes and transfer to a wire rack.
I made the first cookie recipe with raisins, and the second with dark chocolate. I liked the second option more. But even with raisins, oatmeal cookies turn out very tasty and sweet.
Diet oatmeal cookies with banana without eggs
Very tasty and very nutritious, despite the fact that the delicacy is dietary. These calories are not empty. They bring benefits to the body. There are nuts and dried fruits known for their positive qualities. List of required components:
- Hercules cereal - two glasses.
- Yogurt or low-fat kefir - 1.5-2 cups.
- Bananas - two large and ripe.
- Dried fruits - 50 grams.
- Nuts - 50-100 grams.
- Natural honey - no more than half a tablespoon.
How to cook
- Wash the Hercules and place it in a deep bowl. We will also send fermented milk products here. Give the flakes an hour to swell.
- We peel and chop the bananas as we prefer. You can cut them into cubes, but you can also crush them into a paste using a fork.
- We wash dried fruits several times in hot water. We carefully select possible waste. Cut into cubes.

- Heat the kitchen oven to 180-200 degrees. We place the blanks inside it for 10-20 minutes. As in previous cases, the readiness of the cookies will be indicated by their golden ruddy color.
Lenten oatmeal banana cookies
During Lent, we often think about how to whip up something delicious that is allowed during Lent! By combining oatmeal with banana into cookies (1 tbsp. flakes, 2 bananas) and adding 20 grams of raisins for taste, we get a dietary treat in the form of homemade baked goods. The cooking principle is no different from previous recipes. Just mix all the ingredients. Bake at 200 degrees for 10 minutes.
With apple and banana
Another delicious oatmeal cookie recipe. The aroma of green apple makes tea drinking even more delicious. Let's make some baked goods with apples. List of necessary products for cookies:
- One large green apple.
- One banana.
- A glass of low-fat kefir.
- Two glasses of Hercules oatmeal.
- Baking powder - half a sachet.
- Honey - a teaspoon.
- Optionally, you can add a handful of nuts and a handful of washed raisins.
- To lubricate the sheet on which the cookies will be baked, you need a little vegetable oil. Literally to wet the brush.
Procedure
- Pour kefir into a bowl. Next, add oatmeal and mix. Place the mixture in the refrigerator for half an hour. When the flakes increase in volume, continue preparing the dough.
- Wash the apple and banana. We take out the swollen Hercules and mix it with honey. Grate the apple and add it to the dough. Chop the banana as desired. We also add it to the dough.
- Mix, add baking powder, nuts, raisins, if you decide to make cookies with these ingredients. If you prepare dietary baked goods without them, the delicacy will have a slightly different taste. Try both options to find out which one deserves to be your favorite.
- Grease a baking tray with oil. Let's heat the oven. Spread the dough with a spoon or form balls with your hands and then press them.
- Baking time: 10-18 minutes. Take out the finished golden cookies.
