Wood grouse's nest salad - delicious 6 classic recipes

Rate this post

Hello, friends!

The salad with the unusual name “Grookery’s Nest” can confidently be called a classic of Russian cuisine, without which not a single holiday is complete. The main feature of this dish is its presentation. Sprigs of fresh herbs intertwined with crispy potato straws create an imitation of the twigs and blades of grass that make up a bird's nest.

There are a lot of variations of this dish today. Chips, ham, quail eggs and even pineapples are added to the Wood Grouse's Nest. You can choose what you like.

It’s worth noting right away that the snack turns out to be very high in calories. Therefore, those who care about their figure will, alas, not be able to eat a large portion without consequences for the waist.

A tasty, satisfying and incredibly beautiful salad will undoubtedly impress both adults and children. Although all its ingredients are available, and the cooking algorithm is simple, this miracle looks very presentable and will decorate any table. But don’t forget about the most popular appetizers; they are also good for guests, such as Mimosa or Caesar.

Classic salad "Groegro's Nest" with chicken, fresh cucumber and fried potatoes

What's included:

  • chicken breast fillet – 200 g;
  • chicken eggs (select category) – 4 pcs.;
  • processed cheese – 50 g;
  • canned green peas – 250 g;
  • onions (preferably sweet, but regular ones are fine);
  • cucumber (long) – 1 pc.;
  • garlic – 3 small cloves;
  • potatoes - 4 medium tubers;
  • fresh dill – 1 bunch (small);
  • table vinegar (9%) – 1.5 tbsp. l.;
  • sugar – 0.5 tsp;
  • drinking water – 3 tbsp. l.;
  • sunflower oil, odorless - for frying potatoes;
  • mayonnaise - as much as needed for salad dressing;
  • salt - to taste, you can take a little ground pepper for piquancy;
  • lettuce leaves - for serving.

How to cook step by step:

  1. It’s best to start preparing the salad by pickling the onions. In the meantime, it will marinate, you can safely prepare other components of the dish. Peel and cut into small cubes a medium-sized onion. Place the onion slices into a deep bowl. Add vinegar, sugar and cold water. Mix everything with your hands and set aside for about 30 minutes. The onions will become piquant and crispy – very tasty.
  2. Hard boil the eggs, cool and peel. Cut the whites into small cubes and set the yolks aside for now. Grind fresh cucumber in the same way. Disassemble the boiled chicken breast into fibers or cut it with a knife, like the previous products. Place all chopped ingredients into a large bowl. Add pickled onions (carefully squeeze out the liquid) and green peas. Add mayonnaise, a little salt and pepper to taste. Mix well. The salad base is ready and can be placed in the refrigerator to cool before serving.
  3. Mash the yolks with a fork. Add processed cheese, grated on a fine grater. To make it easier to grate the cheese, you need to keep it in the freezer for 15-20 minutes. Add a handful of chopped dill and a teaspoon of mayonnaise there. Season with garlic passed through a press, a pinch of pepper, and salt to taste. Mix everything well. The mass will be quite viscous and elastic.
  4. Grease your hands with a thin layer of oil and form small capercaillie eggs from the resulting mass, which will then decorate the “Nest”. You should get 8 small eggs. Cover them with film and put them in the refrigerator so that they harden well.
  5. Peel the potatoes and grate them for Korean salads. You should get a thin long straw. The potatoes should be thoroughly washed to remove starch in cold water - then they will turn golden brown and remain crisp for a long time.
  6. Fry the potato strips in well-heated oil until beautifully golden brown. This can be done deep-fried or simply by pouring more oil into the pan so that the potatoes float in it. You need to fry in small portions - this way the potatoes will fry faster and more evenly until crispy. Place fried potatoes on a paper towel to absorb excess fat.
  7. Now comes the fun part - forming the salad. Wash and dry several beautiful lettuce leaves and place them on a large flat dish. Place the base with chicken on top in the form of a slide. Make a depression in the center in which the “grouse eggs” snack bars will lie.
  8. Cover the sides of the “nest” with fried potato strips.
  9. Sprinkle the cavity with the remaining chopped herbs and place the eggs on top.

With fresh cucumber and fried potatoes

This variation of the Wood Grouse's Nest is similar to the classic version. Only there is no processed cheese in it, and the dish itself is mixed, and not laid out in layers. Meat, onion, eggs and cucumber cut into strips are combined in a bowl with mayonnaise, pepper and salt. After this, the mixture is laid out on a portioned dish in the form of a nest in which quail eggs are placed. The remaining surface is sprinkled with fried potatoes.

  • 6 quail eggs;.
  • 3 potatoes;
  • 3-4 pickled cucumbers;

Potatoes cut into strips are fried in a large amount of oil. Quail eggs are boiled, cooled, and peeled. Chicken, cabbage, cucumbers are cut into lengths. Make a salad dressing from mustard and sour cream. Mix all ingredients, except potatoes and eggs, in a bowl and season with sauce. By analogy with previous recipes, place the mixture on a dish and decorate with potatoes and eggs in the shape of a nest.

Hungarian plum can bring originality to the taste. And the combination with prunes and chicken will not leave anyone indifferent. The dish is prepared from:

  • 400 gr. smoked chicken fillet;
  • 3-4 cucumbers;
  • 5 eggs;
  • 150 gr. prunes;
  • 1 onion;
  • salt, pepper;
  • mayonnaise.

For decoration you will need to prepare:

  • 5-6 potatoes;
  • 150 gr. sunflower oil;
  • 1 bunch of dill.

The ingredients are mixed and placed in a heap on a plate. The dish is decorated with fried potato strips on top, and the remaining quail eggs are placed in the middle.

With champignons and pancakes

The combination of smoked chicken and mushrooms is loved by many. And if you complement the combination with egg pancakes and beautifully arrange the salad, then such a dish will become a real star of the holiday table. This salad can be prepared even without meat. In this case, there will be a pronounced mushroom aroma and taste. To prepare Wood Grouse Nest with chicken you will need:

  • smoked fillet;
  • pickled champignons;
  • salted cucumbers;
  • pancakes;
  • potato straws;
  • processed cheese;
  • greenery;
  • garlic.

The proportions of ingredients depend on the serving. In addition, by increasing or decreasing the amount of certain products, it will be possible to emphasize individual flavor notes.

Eggs, cucumbers, mushrooms and pancakes are cut into strips. The chicken is vomiting. All components are mixed with half the potatoes and mayonnaise. The salad is laid out in the shape of a nest. The remaining potatoes are used to decorate the dish. For decoration, you can boil quail eggs. If you don’t have them, you can make balls of cheese, garlic and herbs.

With boiled veal and carrots in Korean

This option can be implemented with smoked chicken or replaced with boiled veal. You can also combine 2 types of meat. It is different in appearance and is considered healthier as it does not use oil fried potatoes. Ingredients for the dish:

  • 400 gr. meat (boiled or smoked);
  • 200 gr. Korean carrots;
  • 10 quail eggs;
  • 200 gr. hard cheese;
  • greenery;
  • mayonnaise;
  • salt.

The eggs are boiled. Half the eggs are cut into cubes. The rest will be used for decoration. The cheese is grated. The meat is cut into small pieces. Prepared products are laid out in layers: eggs - cheese - meat. A nest of Korean carrots is formed on top, and quail eggs are placed in the middle of the nest.

Advice! If the dish is small, then it is enough to leave 3 eggs for decoration. A large salad bowl will require 5.

With crab sticks

Lovers of sea flavors can try a variation of the Capercaillie's Nest salad with crab sticks. And adventurous cooks can pair chicken with crab to achieve new flavors. The salad is prepared from:

  • rice;
  • crab sticks;

  • greenery;
  • mayonnaise.

Combine boiled rice with cucumber straws and chopped crab sticks. Season the salad with mayonnaise. Distribute finely chopped greens onto a dish. Place the salad on it. Place boiled quail eggs in the center. Decorate the sides of the dish in the shape of a nest using braided cheese.

Delicious Capercaillie Nest salad with chicken, ham and mushrooms - a simple recipe

Product composition of the dish:

  • potatoes (not very starchy) – 3 pcs.;
  • chicken (fillet or boneless legs) – about 200 g;
  • fresh mushrooms (champignons) – 200 g;
  • ham (any choice) – 150 g;
  • hard-boiled eggs – 3 pcs. (large);
  • processed cheese – 100 g (in a briquette);
  • garlic – 2 medium cloves (to taste);
  • dill - a small bunch;
  • lettuce leaves - to decorate the dish;
  • mayonnaise - approximately 120-150 ml, as needed;
  • salt, freshly ground pepper - a few pinches each;
  • odorless oil (vegetable) - for frying potatoes.

Step-by-step guide - how to make a “Gill wood grouse’s nest”:

  1. Grate peeled and well-washed potato tubers on a grater, which is used for preparing vegetables in Korean. The result should be a long, thin potato straw. Wash the starch from the potatoes well, and be sure to dry them on a clean towel. Heat the oil well (enough so that the potatoes float in it), add a few handfuls of potatoes, fry until crispy. Place the finished potato pie on paper napkins. Once the oil is absorbed from frying, transfer to a bowl. Fry the entire portion of potatoes using this algorithm.
  2. Idea. You can use potato chips instead of fried potatoes.

  3. Wash the mushrooms, cut into thin slices, and first fry in a dry frying pan. When the liquid has evaporated, add oil and brown. Add salt and a little pepper to the almost finished mushrooms and stir. Remove the fried champignons from the pan and cool.
  4. Boil the eggs for 7-9 minutes after the water boils. Cool by immersing in ice water, remove the shell and separate into the white and yolk. Place the yolks in a bowl and chop with a fork. Grate the cheese on a fine grater and add to the yolks. Finely chop the dill and add to the bowl with the previous ingredients. Place a couple of garlic cloves pressed through a crusher. Add salt and pepper, add a small spoon of mayonnaise and stir the mixture well. Place it in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes until it hardens a little.
  5. Cut the whites into small cubes. Grind the boiled chicken in the same way. Cut the ham into strips. Mix everything in one bowl, add previously fried mushrooms. Season with a small amount of mayonnaise. Mix the ingredients and add salt to taste.
  6. Place the chicken and ham salad on lettuce leaves placed on a large flat platter. Gently spread the fried potatoes over the surface, leaving a well in the center. It should look like a nest. Make small oval “eggs” from the yolk-cheese mass. Place them in the “nest”.

Reviews: “My secret is homemade mayonnaise and lean pork”

The salad is simply amazing!!!!! I made homemade light mayonnaise and added the most tender, lean smoked pork. The salad just flew away!!! This is not a capercaillie's nest - this is the rapid flight of a wood grouse!!

Vladimir Neverov, https://finecooking.ru/recipe/salat-gnezdo-gluharya

Girls, this salad is amazing, I didn’t expect that with such simple ingredients it would turn out so tasty! And I cooked for my family and didn’t decorate it particularly festively, but I added fried potatoes to the salad and for good reason.

Katya, https://www.moi-povar.ru/kulinar_retsepti/salat/11061/?PAGEN_2=2

Eh... I tried it) it didn’t work out) fortunately the salad itself is delicious, all my potatoes started sticking to the pan and in general they turned into porridge in the end, I grated them in Korean

How to cook layered salad “Nest” with pickled onions, cheese and quail eggs

List of required ingredients:

  • chicken meat (breast) – 400 g;
  • selected chicken eggs – 4 pcs.;
  • quail eggs – 5-6 pcs. (for salad decoration);
  • potatoes (not very large) – 3-4 pcs.;
  • onion – 1 medium onion;
  • fresh short-fruited cucumbers – 2 pcs.;
  • fresh herbs - a small bunch;
  • hard cheese – 100 g (you can also take semi-hard cheese);
  • processed cheese – 60-70 g (not soft);
  • salt - to taste;
  • apple cider vinegar (6%) – 1 tbsp. l.;
  • granulated sugar - a large pinch;
  • odorless sunflower oil - for frying potatoes;
  • mayonnaise - for coating the layers.

Step-by-step cooking method:

  1. Cut the onion into thin quarter rings, place in a deep bowl, and pour boiling water over it. After 3 minutes, drain the liquid and instead add marinade made from vinegar, sugar and half a glass of cold water. Leave the onion to marinate for 10 minutes, then drain the marinade and squeeze out the slices - gently but thoroughly.
  2. Boil or bake chicken meat with the addition of your favorite spices (turmeric, black pepper, garlic, marjoram, dill, basil, etc.) and salt. Cool, cut into strips. Also cut the cucumbers into thin slices. Hard-boil eggs (both types), peel. Grate the chicken ones on a medium grater, and remove the quail ones for now; they will be needed much later. Also, use a grater to grate both types of cheese (you can only take one). Chop the washed and dried greens as finely as possible. Cut the potatoes into thin strips and fry in a large amount of heated oil, not forgetting to add salt at the end of cooking. It is advisable to fry in 2-3 approaches so that the straws are completely cooked and evenly covered with a crispy crust. Place fried potatoes until crisp on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  3. Arrange the salad in layers on a large round platter. The first layer is chicken, with pickled onions on it. Coat with a small amount of mayonnaise. Sprinkle with cucumber and apply a little sauce.
  4. Next add eggs + mayonnaise. Sprinkle the salad with cheese. The last layers should be laid out so that there is not a very deep hole in the center.
  5. Sprinkle dill there.
  6. And spread the fried potatoes on the sides so that it looks like an imitation nest. All that remains is to add the quail eggs.

And you can bring joy to those gathered at the table.

With carrots and pickles

This Nest recipe is similar to the classic one, but adds pickles and smoked chicken breast. In addition, the snack turns out white or yellow due to the top cheese layer.

What ingredients will you need?

For the dish you need to take:

  • potatoes - 3 tubers;
  • eggs and pickles – 2 pcs.;
  • onions and carrots - 1 pc.;
  • hard cheese – 80-100 g;
  • smoked chicken – 1 breast;
  • fresh dill - a large bunch;
  • salt and light mayonnaise.

Instead of smoked chicken, you can also take boiled or fried until golden brown. 4-5 boiled quail eggs are also used to decorate the treat.

Step-by-step cooking process

The cooking process includes several stages:

  1. First you need to boil potatoes and two types of eggs. You can immediately cool these products and process them with a grater. Only the quail eggs should be left whole for decoration.
  2. Onions and carrots must be finely chopped and then browned in any fat. Cheese - grate coarsely.
  3. All that remains is to cut the pickled cucumbers and smoked chicken breast into neat cubes. Next, you can mix all the products, except cheese and whole eggs, together, and season with salted mayonnaise.

The appetizer is laid out in a heap on a large dish and covered with grated cheese on top, which will imitate twigs in a nest.

Rules for serving dishes, decoration

It is better to chop the cheese into long thin shavings, then the salad will look more impressive. In the middle of the entire structure you need to make a small depression and place the remaining intact quail eggs in it. Next, immediately serve the appetizer to the table.

“Gill wood grouse’s nest” with pickled champignons – a chic holiday salad

What you need to take to prepare it:

Main components:

  • chicken – 400 g;
  • ham (any smoked meat) – 100 g;
  • boiled egg whites – 3 pcs.;
  • pickled champignons – 400 g;
  • potatoes (medium) – 4-5 pcs.;
  • fine salt, freshly ground pepper - to taste;
  • mayonnaise – 4-5 tbsp. l.;
  • lettuce or other salad leaves - for serving;
  • vegetable oil (sunflower) without odor and additives - for deep frying.

For “grouse eggs” you will need:

  • processed cheese in a block (like “Friendship”) – 100 g;
  • egg yolks (boiled) – 3 pcs.;
  • garlic – 1-2 cloves (to taste);
  • several sprigs of dill;
  • mayonnaise - approximately 0.5 tbsp. l.;
  • a little salt and spices.

Detailed cooking method:

  1. Boil the chicken in boiling water with the addition of spices and salt for 20-30 minutes. Cool the finished meat, separate it into fibers by hand, and transfer it to a container convenient for mixing. Cut the ham into strips and add to the chicken. Then grate the whites of the hard-boiled eggs on a medium grater. Cut the pickled mushrooms into thin slices and pour them into a common bowl. Add mayonnaise, salt, and a pinch of pepper to the narzan ingredients.
  2. Mix well.
  3. Peel the potatoes, grate them or cut them into thin strips. Fry in plenty of oil over high heat. To ensure that the potatoes bake evenly, the entire quantity can be divided into 2-3 parts and fried one at a time. Remove the remaining oil from the finished golden-brown potatoes using paper napkins, add salt, and carefully separate them into separate pieces with your hands.
  4. Place lettuce leaves (or other lettuce - at your discretion) on a large flat plate. Place the salad mixture on top in the form of a nest, making a depression in the center with a spoon.
  5. Cover the “nest” with crispy potatoes.
  6. The most interesting thing left is to form the eggs for decoration. Crumble the yolks, mix them with grated processed cheese, finely chopped dill, grated or crushed garlic, and mayonnaise. Add salt and spices (literally a pinch each) and mix well. Using two teaspoons or your hands, form the resulting viscous mass into quenelles that will imitate eggs in a nest.

Can be served immediately. But it is not recommended to store the salad in the refrigerator - the potatoes stop crisping.

With turkey and salad

This is a lighter version of the classic salad - less harmful to your figure.

What ingredients will you need?

For the dish you need to take:

  • red onion – 1 head;
  • pickled and fresh cucumbers – 3 pcs.;
  • boiled eggs (chicken and quail) – 5 pcs.;
  • boiled turkey – 1 kg;
  • lettuce leaves - a large bunch;
  • greens, butter, sour cream, salt.

You can season the appetizer with low-calorie mayonnaise.

Step-by-step cooking process

The cooking process includes several stages:

  1. The first step is to peel and very finely chop the red onion. Next, cut fresh and pickled cucumbers into neat cubes. You can grind them together with the skin.
  2. Pre-cooked chicken eggs will need to be divided into components. Then finely grate the white and mash the yolk with a fork or crumble it with your hands.
  3. The salad can be cut as desired, as can the greens. The latter is an optional ingredient, but it complements the appetizer very tasty. It is best to take a bunch of parsley and dill at once.
  4. To keep the turkey soft, cook it for about 80-90 minutes, then cool it directly in the broth and separate it into fibers.
  5. All previously prepared ingredients should be salted to taste, seasoned with sour cream (or low-calorie mayonnaise) and mixed well. You can immediately place the salad in a heap on a flat plate.
  6. Raw potatoes should be cut into very thin strips. Then rinse well with water and dry on natural fabric towels. All that remains is to fry it in a large amount of oil until golden brown, and then pour it on top of the salad.

The resulting snack does not need to be left in the refrigerator to infuse; you can immediately take a sample.

Rules for serving dishes, decoration

Before serving, fill the middle of the mound with chopped herbs and place boiled quail eggs in it.

Very interesting flavor combination and amazing presentation. This dish ensures increased attention from guests.

Preparations

This appetizer has a twist: to make the dish tasty, all the ingredients must be chopped very finely. The salad is left to soak for some time. And the “hat” in the form of a nest is prepared immediately before serving.

This minimalist approach is appropriate when cooking for two

Components

  • chicken or turkey fillet - 0.3 kg;
  • chicken eggs - 5 pieces;
  • quail eggs - 7 pieces;
  • champignons - 0.3 kg;
  • potatoes - 0.5 kg;
  • refined oil;
  • fresh cucumbers - 2 medium;
  • onions - 1 large onion;
  • dill greens - 1 bunch;
  • mayonnaise, salt.

Preparation

  1. The first step is to boil the fillet. Place meat in boiling water, reduce heat, cook for 20-25 minutes. 5 minutes before the end of cooking, add salt.
  2. Chop the chilled fillet very finely.
  3. Cut the champignons into small cubes and fry until tender.
  4. Slice the potatoes, then deep-fry them. You need to fry in small portions, otherwise the potatoes will stick together. Be sure to add salt.
  5. Chop the onion very finely. To prevent it from becoming bitter, pour boiling water over it and hold for 10 minutes. Then drain the water and cool the onion.
  6. Cut fresh cucumbers into strips.
  7. Boil chicken eggs for 10 minutes. 1 minute before readiness, place quail eggs in boiling water. Chicken eggs should be grated, quail eggs - just peeled and greased with a small amount of vegetable oil.
  8. Finely chop the dill.
  9. Assemble the salad as follows: mix all the ingredients with half the potatoes.
  10. Add mayonnaise, salt if necessary.
  11. Stir, fill the salad bowl, leave to soak for half an hour.
  12. Place the remaining fried potatoes in a circle.
  13. Fill the center with chopped herbs.
  14. When the dish is decorated, place quail eggs in the center.

The most delicious homemade recipe with meat (pork, tongue) and boiled carrots

What products will we cook from:

  • pork (boil, cool) – 400 g;
  • potatoes (peel, wash) – about 600 g;
  • refined sunflower oil – 0.4-0.5 l;
  • boiled eggs (hard-boiled) – 5 pcs.;
  • pickled cucumbers – 4 pcs. (not very large);
  • carrots (boiled until tender) – 2 pcs.;
  • onions (white, yellow) – 1 pc. (medium-large);
  • drinking water – 100 ml;
  • table vinegar (9 percent) – 25 ml;
  • granulated sugar – 25 g;
  • processed cheese – 90-100 g (1 package);
  • garlic – 2 medium cloves;
  • mayonnaise - as much as needed;
  • a little dill;
  • ground pepper, salt.

Step-by-step cooking recipe:

  1. Carrots, meat (you can take pork, beef, tongue or chicken), boil eggs until tender, cool. In the meantime, the ingredients are preparing and cooling, start preparing the potato “coat” for the nest. Peel the potatoes, wash them, grate the tubers with long, moderately thin strips. Heat a large amount of oil over moderate heat. Drop the grated potatoes into deep fat in small portions and fry for a few minutes until golden. Place the finished portion on a napkin to absorb the fat. Repeat the sequence with the entire portion of potatoes. If everything is done correctly, the straw will turn out crispy and crumbly. After frying, it should be sprinkled with a small amount of fine salt.
  2. Cut the onion into small cubes, place in a small bowl, add a little sugar. Gently mash the onion with granulated sugar until the juice begins to release. Then pour in vinegar and water and stir. Marinate for 10-15 minutes, then drain the liquid.
  3. Boiled carrots, egg whites (the yolks are not needed yet, they need to be set aside), meat and cucumbers cut into cubes - not too small, but not large either. As you chop, pour all the ingredients into a spacious bowl in which it will be convenient to mix the salad.
  4. Add pickled onions, a few handfuls of fried potatoes, and mayonnaise. A couple of spoons will be enough, if it turns out a little dry, you can add a little more. Salt + pepper - to taste. Mix.
  5. Place the mass in a neat heap on a dish, give it the shape of a nest, deepening the place where the “eggs” will lie. Decorate the sides of the salad with the remaining fried potatoes.
  6. Finely chop the dill. Pour most of it into the empty “pocket” of the “nest”, leaving a little.
  7. Place the reserved yolks in a bowl, add finely grated cheese, chopped garlic, remaining dill and a little mayonnaise. Salt, sprinkle with pepper, grind thoroughly.
  8. Make “eggs” and place them in the “nest”.

The cooking process includes several stages:

  1. First you need to boil the carrots and eggs. The latter - until the yolk is hard, and the carrots - until soft.
  2. While these ingredients are cooling, you can take care of the potatoes - cut them into thin slices and fry until golden brown in a large amount of well-heated oil. A special Berner grater will greatly facilitate the housewife’s task. To prevent the oil from splashing, the resulting potato blocks must be thoroughly dried with paper napkins and only then sent to fry.
  3. Carrots, egg whites and sausage need to be cut into strips. The latter should be taken not too greasy. For example, Vienna sausage is good for salad.
  4. All prepared ingredients must be mixed in a common bowl. Add mayonnaise with salt and crushed garlic to them. You can also use sour cream as a sauce.
  5. It is better to cover a large dish with lettuce leaves. On top - lay out the entire resulting thick mass and form it into a slide with a small hole in the middle.

All that remains is to grate the processed cheese (to make the process easier, you can first freeze them) and mix them with mayonnaise and a small amount of garlic. Small balls are rolled out of them, imitating bird eggs. To make the specks on them realistic, you can add black pepper. The “eggs” are placed in the middle of the entire structure.

Rules for serving dishes, decoration

Serve the appetizer immediately while the potatoes are still crispy. There is no need for the dish to steep.

An interesting variation of “Gill wood grouse’s nest” with beef and carrots in Korean

What to take:

  • Korean pickled carrots – 150 g (spiciness is at your discretion);
  • selected category chicken eggs – 4 pcs.;
  • potatoes – 3-4 pcs.;
  • onion – 2 heads;
  • beef (pulp) – 150 g;
  • hard cheese – 60-80 g;
  • garlic – 1 clove;
  • greens - a bunch (small);
  • vegetable oil - for frying;
  • mayonnaise and salt.

Simple recipe:

  1. Boil or bake the beef until cooked. When the meat has cooled, cut it into thin oblong pieces.
  2. Cut the onion into half rings and fry until soft and light golden brown. Set aside the finished onion and let it cool.
  3. Boil the eggs, peel them, cut each one in half, remove the yolks and place them in a separate bowl. Chop the whites into strips. Mix chopped meat, onions, egg whites, and Korean carrots. Add a little mayonnaise, salt and mix.
  4. Cut the peeled potatoes or grate them into strips as thin as possible. Heat a lot of oil in a narrow frying pan. Dip a small amount of potato slices into the hot fat, wait until they brown, remove with a slotted spoon and transfer to a napkin (the paper will absorb excess fat from the surface). Fry the entire amount of potatoes in this way. Add salt to the prepared mixture and mix.
  5. Place the salad in the form of a round nest, making a smooth depression in the middle. Cover the entire surface, except the recess, with a layer of potato pie.
  6. Grate the egg yolks, garlic and cheese on a fine grater. Mix everything in one container, add a tablespoon of chopped herbs. Season the mixture with mayonnaise, add a pinch of salt, stir. Make small elongated capercaillie “eggs” from the resulting mass.
  7. Sprinkle the uncovered part of the salad with the remaining herbs and place imitation eggs on top.

Delicious!

Rules for preparing salad

Each housewife has her own version of preparing this dish. This applies to its composition: for example, which cucumbers, salted or fresh, to choose. And also design: how to make the “nest” itself so that it looks like the real thing. What all the varieties have in common is that the range of products here is very simple. There is also no need to remember the layers, all the ingredients are simply mixed. You can choose a step-by-step recipe with chicken or mushrooms, or you can combine both options. Basic cooking principles:

  1. All products must be cut, mixed with mayonnaise, and placed in a salad bowl.
  2. The salad bowl should be chosen so that the appetizer does not reach 3-4 cm to the edges.
  3. If there are a lot of guests and the dish is very large, then ordinary chicken eggs are placed in the center. But most often these are quail or fake ones, made from a special dough, the size of quail ones.
  4. The mass for forming eggs can consist of crushed yolks, cheese, mayonnaise, and garlic. If desired, you can add finely chopped nuts. Make small eggs and place them in the center of the dish. You can freeze it a little half an hour before serving the salad.
  5. The “twigs” for the nest are made from potato slices. They come in 3 types: sticks (up to 1 cm thick), thin strips (2 mm thick), potatoes grated on a Korean carrot grater. The last option is most similar to the brushwood from which the nests are made, but it is the most labor-intensive. You can buy ready-made cubes at the supermarket and then fry them until golden brown. Photo No. 1
  6. Finely chopped greens are added. This could be parsley, dill and other types of greens.

To keep the fries crispy, the main part of the dish can be prepared in advance and the top just before serving.

Serving the salad

As for serving, all salads are made in the shape of a nest. This is a prerequisite for serving, and then it’s up to you, fantasize and come up with new images for decorating nests. When you place eggs in a nest, you must put an amount equal to the number of guests, so that everyone has enough eggs and no one is left deprived. I managed to find interesting information about the calorie content of the foods contained in our salads. It will be especially useful for those who like to count calories and watch their figure. With ham and pickled mushrooms

The Wood Grouse Nest salad (the recipe can be changed to suit your taste) is also delicious when prepared with ham and mushrooms. Marinated champignons are best suited for appetizers.

What ingredients will you need?

For the dish you need to take:

  • chicken breast – 350-400 g;
  • ham – 100-120 g;
  • chicken eggs – 4 pcs.;
  • pickled mushrooms – 650-700 g;
  • cheese – 70 g;
  • salad – 3-4 leaves;
  • potatoes - 3 tubers;
  • salt, oil, pepper.

To reduce the salad preparation time, you can use already prepared French fries. Then you can simply pour it on top of the snack and not think about decorating. Boiled quail eggs are also used for decoration.

Step-by-step cooking process

The cooking process includes several stages:

  1. The breast must be cooked. Next, leave the bird to cool directly in the broth so that it is juicier, and cut into cubes. You also need to chop the ham.
  2. It’s better to take the mushrooms already chopped, then you can simply pour them into the rest of the ingredients and mix.
  3. The eggs must be boiled, cooled, and chopped into cubes. But only chicken ones need to be chopped; quail ones remain whole.
  4. Egg cubes are poured into the salad, after which it is salted, seasoned with mayonnaise and mixed thoroughly.
  5. Next, place the mixture in a heap on a flat plate covered with lettuce leaves. Make a small depression in the middle and place quail eggs in it.

All that remains is to cut the potatoes into thin strips and fry them in a large amount of oil until crispy. Then sprinkle it on top of the salad

Rules for serving dishes, decoration

The appetizer must be served immediately, as fried potatoes quickly become soggy from the mayonnaise and cease to be crispy.
