You can serve it simply with a salad, or as a side dish for meat, chicken, even sausages. By the way, this dish can also be prepared in a slow cooker, but in this case only 1/4 cup of water will be enough.

  • Mashed potatoes – 300 grams
  • Toast bread - 6-8 slices
  • Vegetable oil - To taste (for frying)
  • Salt, spices, herbs - To taste (chili, garam masala, etc.)

Cooking method:

  1. Boil 2-3 potatoes and mash them into a puree.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 1–2 cloves of garlic
  • 400 ml milk
  • 500 ml heavy cream or crème fraiche

Cooking method:

  1. Peel the potatoes and cut into 5 mm thick slices. If for some reason you want to get rid of excess starch, rinse the potatoes in plenty of cold water, drain in a colander and dry with a towel. But we prefer potatoes with all their starch.
  2. Place the potatoes in a saucepan and add milk. Add some salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, reduce heat and simmer for 8 minutes.
  3. Rub a baking dish (preferably rectangular) thoroughly with garlic and grease thoroughly with butter. Place half of the potatoes into it and smooth it out.
  4. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. Sprinkle a layer of potatoes with half the cheese, add half the cream or creme fraiche, and pepper.
  5. Place the remaining potatoes in another layer, cover with the other half of the cheese and cream (creme fraiche). Pour in the milk in which the potatoes were cooked.
  6. Place the pan in an oven preheated to 170°C for about 45 minutes. Your gratin will be ready when the crust is golden brown.

How to Make Gnocchi from Leftover Mashed Potatoes

  1. Pour flour into cold puree. There is already salt there, so most likely you won’t need to add salt, you can add a little pepper. Knead the mass, it should be thick, but still stick to your hands.
  2. Place on a floured surface. We shape it into a thin sausage, which we also sprinkle with a little flour.
  3. You need to be careful with flour, since the mass is sticky and you always want to add more flour, but you can, as they say, “beat” the dough and the gnocchi will turn out hard.
  4. Place a pan of water on the stove. While it is boiling, cut off pieces from the sausage, which we shape into pillows.
  5. Boil in boiling water, stirring frequently. They, like dumplings, will first sink to the bottom and then float up. We surfaced and are ready. Remove with a slotted spoon.
  6. Pour vegetable oil into the frying pan, add butter and wait for it to heat up. Cut the sausage into cubes. Fry in oil for 3-4 minutes.
  7. Place the gnocchi in a baking dish, add the sausage there, add a little mixture of Provençal herbs, mix and sprinkle with finely grated cheese.
  8. Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C for 15 minutes.

Serve as a separate dish.

Potato salad with oyster mushrooms

Even potatoes with mushrooms can be prepared in a more interesting way!

You will need:
400 g potatoes, 200 g brisket, 400 g oyster mushrooms, 1 bunch of green onions, 3 tbsp.

How to make croquettes from boiled potatoes

Puff potato with chicken and cheese

For many housewives, preparing puff pastries is associated with a large consumption of food and an impressive investment of time. But this recipe for an unusual second dish of potatoes can be called an exception. You don’t have to stand at the stove all day and sadly look into your wallet after purchasing groceries.

Required:

  • 20 potato tubers;
  • 15 chicken thighs (any meat can be used);
  • 300-400 g hard cheese;
  • 2 packs of mayonnaise (500 g each);
  • 3-4 onions;
  • salt pepper;
  • fresh greens.

Cooking steps:

  1. Cut the peeled onion into half rings. Potatoes - thin slices. Then put them in different bowls. Place the washed and dried chicken thighs in a third bowl. Season all three ingredients with salt, pepper, and mayonnaise. Leave to marinate for an hour.

  1. On a greased baking sheet, place potatoes, onions and meat in layers (in the listed order). Place in the oven and bake for 40-50 minutes. Temperature 220 °C.

  1. We take out the baking sheet. Sprinkle the puff potatoes with grated cheese. Put it in the oven again. As soon as the cheese has melted, serve the dish. It is recommended to use fresh herbs for decoration.

Bombay potatoes

Thanks to the tomatoes and a range of spices, the dish turns out very bright.

You will need:
800 g potatoes, 3 tomatoes, 1 onion, half a chili pepper, 3 cloves of garlic, cilantro, 1 tsp each.
turmeric, coriander, ginger and curry, cumin, 20 ml vegetable oil. Preparation:

Cut the potatoes into medium cubes and boil until half cooked. Fry the chopped onion with garlic and spices, add the tomatoes and stews whipped in a blender. Add potatoes and chopped hot pepper, simmer everything together for another 15 minutes under the lid over low heat.

6 slices of bread, 3 potatoes, half an onion, 2 eggs, spices.
Preparation:

Mix grated potatoes with chopped onions, add spices and eggs and place a portion of the filling on each piece of bread. Fry the sandwiches in oil, first with the potato side and then with the bread side.

You will need:
600 g of potatoes, 4 stalks of celery, onion, 2 cloves of garlic, 400 ml of coconut milk, 3 tbsp.
l olive oil, 2 tbsp. curry, 2 green onions, 12 large shrimp. Preparation:

Cut the potatoes, garlic, celery and onion into small cubes, fry them in a saucepan in olive oil for literally 5 minutes. Season the vegetables with curry, pour in coconut milk and add 50 ml of hot water. Cook the soup for 15 minutes, in the meantime, peel the shrimp, fry and salt. Puree the soup in a blender, bring to a boil again and serve with shrimp and green onions.

Potato roll with herring

Ingredients:

  • vegetable oil
  • large beets - 1 pc.
  • green onions – 0.5 bunch
  • potatoes – 600 g
  • salted herring fillet – 250 g
  • salt, ground black pepper
  • egg – 1 pc.

Cooking method:

  1. Peel the beets and potatoes and boil separately until tender. Drain the water, leaving 2 tbsp. l. broth, mash the potatoes. Add egg, mix.
  2. Cool the beets and grate them on a coarse grater. Cut the herring fillet into thin slices, green onions into rings.
  3. Cover the table with a large sheet of foil and place a sheet of parchment on top. Place mashed potatoes on parchment, smooth and sprinkle with vegetable oil.
  4. Place a layer of beets on top of the potatoes, then slices of herring and green onions. Carefully twisting the parchment, roll the potatoes with the filling into a roll, wrap in foil and put in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. Before serving, remove the foil and cut the roll into slices.
