Sprat salad with croutons is, you see, a classic of the genre for various holiday tables. In particular, this salad is very popular at New Year's feasts. I am sharing a simple recipe for this salad.

Therefore, on New Year's Day, when all the main time is usually taken up by main courses, baked goods and all kinds of snacks, we must not forget about salads - quick to prepare, but very satisfying and complementing the festive atmosphere. One of my favorite New Year's salads is sprat salad with croutons - very tasty, filling and festive. I am sharing my signature recipe - although signature is a strong word, because there is nothing unusual in this recipe. Recipe 3: layered salad with sprats “Riga Fantasy”

One of the most delicious salad recipes in a wallet-friendly version.

  • - 500 g potatoes;
  • - 5 pieces. chicken eggs;
  • - 200 g carrots;
  • — 200 g of pickled cucumbers;
  • - 2 pcs. cans of sprat in oil;
  • - dill for decoration;
  • - 50 g hard cheese;
  • — 100 g of caviar snack “Ikrinka”;
  • - salt to taste.

Take even potatoes, approximately the same size, weighing about half a kilogram. Rinse the potatoes well in warm water. Place the washed potatoes in a saucepan, fill with cold water and place on the stove. Cook the potatoes until fully cooked, about twenty minutes from the moment of boiling. Remove from heat and drain pan and let potatoes cool completely. Carefully peel the cooled potatoes and grate them on a coarse grater.

Wash the carrots well, remove the leaves and the tip and root. Place in a small saucepan, cover with cold water and place on the stove. Cook until the carrots can be easily pierced with a fork. Remove from heat, drain and cool. Peel the carrots and cut into small cubes.

Dry the pickled cucumbers a little from the brine, cut into small cubes. Hard-boil the eggs, cool and grate on a fine grater. Remove the sprats from the jars and place on a paper towel to remove excess fat. Remove the tails and bones.

How to prepare “Sprout salad with crackers”

Here is a simple set of ingredients from which we will prepare sprat salad with croutons.

We open the jars of sprat, drain the liquid from them into a plate, and soak our crackers in this liquid for a short time. The crackers should soften a little so that guests don’t break their teeth on them. :)

We also put the sprats in a plate.

We mash the sprats with a fork - not quite into porridge, of course, but quite thoroughly. In a kind of sprat minced meat.

Drain the liquid from the canned corn and add it to the sprats.

We do the same with canned beans.

Squeeze garlic into salad.

Grate the cheese on a fine grater.

Add cheese and croutons to the salad. Mix with mayonnaise, salt and pepper to taste.

Before serving, sprinkle with herbs. Ready!

We usually associate sprats with holidays. This small smoked fish looks especially attractive on sandwiches and salads. Moreover, almost no celebration is complete without the latter. So I recently visited and tried a rather interesting salad with sprats. I offer the recipe with photos to you too. Thanks to it, you will prepare a very tasty sprat salad with croutons. In this dish, sprats are perfectly combined with sweet canned corn and white beans, which have a neutral taste. Crispy white bread croutons soaked in sprat oil fit harmoniously into the specified composition. Cheese and garlic add a savory flavor to the dish. And so, let's start preparing our salad with sprats. Cut the loaf slices into cubes with a side of approximately 1 cm. You don’t have to cut the crust off the bread.


Place the loaf in a fireproof container and place in the oven preheated to 180° C. Dry the crackers for 20-25 minutes, remembering to turn them over periodically.


Meanwhile, grate the cheese on a fine grater.


Peel the garlic cloves, rinse and finely chop.


Open the cans of corn and beans. Place the contents in a colander to drain the liquid. If desired, you can rinse the beans under running cold water.


Open the jar of sprat too and take the fish out onto a plate. Remove the pan with crackers from the oven. Pour 2 tbsp over hot crackers. l. sprat oil. Mix well.


Place corn, beans, half the grated cheese, garlic and croutons in a salad bowl.


Season with mayonnaise and mix thoroughly.

  1. Prepared vegetables and boiled eggs must be peeled. Let them cool.

  2. The peeled purple onion must be finely chopped and the bitterness removed. You can do this using table vinegar (sprinkle a small amount of the product), or scald with boiling water.
  3. Cooled eggs must be divided into yolks and whites. In a separate bowl, grate the yolks on a coarse grater, then add the grated potatoes there.
  4. Cucumbers of two types must be cut into medium cubes.
  5. Sprats must be cleaned of tails and cut as desired.
  6. The products used must be mixed, spices and salt added as needed.
  7. The finished mass must be placed on a flat dish, forming the body of the fish.
  8. Egg whites need to be grated on a fine grater. Using the product, you need to lay out the front part of the fish.
  9. The carrots must be cut into thin circles, from which you need to form fish scales. Also, the sharp end of boiled carrots is suitable for fins and tail. On the front part you need to lay out the eyes and mouth.

How to serve a dish

The main feature of the salad is its colorful design. The dish can be decorated as you wish. If you wish, you can not arrange the salad in the form of fish, but make several layers, where the bottom will be a mixture of main products, and the top will be grated or chopped carrots.
