When preparing cabbage rolls, two factors should be taken into account: the compatibility of the components and the preferences of the household.

Lazy cabbage rolls in tomato-sour cream sauce in the oven

A simple recipe for making lazy cabbage rolls in tomato and sour cream sauce will help you quickly make a hearty and incredibly tasty lunch for the whole family. Due to the gravy, the dish turns out to be very tender and soft with a pleasant tomato note, which goes well with cabbage, rice and minced meat. You can choose the type of last ingredient according to your taste.

Ingredients:

  • Pork tenderloin – 600 g.
  • White cabbage – 160 g.
  • Onions – 1 pc.
  • Carrots – 1 pc.
  • Eggs – 1 pc.
  • Rice – 100 g.
  • Broth – 180 ml.
  • Tomato paste – 4 tsp.
  • Sour cream – 4 tsp.
  • Flour – 2 tsp.
  • Vegetable oil – 1 tsp.
  • Pepper – 1 pinch.
  • Salt – 1 pinch.

Cooking method:

  1. To prepare the dish faster, rinse the rice several times in advance until the water becomes clear. Then pour the cereal into a small saucepan, add a small amount of water and cook until half cooked.
  2. We wash the pork tenderloin well under running water, dry it a little and cut it into small pieces, which are then placed in a meat grinder. Grind the meat until minced, add salt and pepper to taste. To prevent the cabbage rolls from falling apart, break one egg and mix the mixture well.
  3. Remove the skins from the onions and add them to the meat mixture, mixing thoroughly again.

Tip: if desired, the onion can be passed through a meat grinder along with the meat.

  1. We wash the cabbage under running water, let all the excess liquid drain, and then cut it so that we end up with short and thin strips.
  2. We clean the carrots, rinse them and pass them through a fine grater.
  3. In a separate deep bowl, mix the minced meat, chopped cabbage, rice, chopped carrots and the required amount of flour. Mix the resulting mass well, adjusting its taste with salt and pepper.
  4. With wet hands, form medium-sized balls and immediately transfer them to a baking dish, which we have previously greased with a small amount of vegetable oil.
  5. In a separate bowl, make the sauce: mix tomato paste, sour cream and broth. Stir the gravy thoroughly until smooth, then pour it into the prepared meat balls.

Tip: if you don’t have broth, you can replace it with purified water.

  1. Place the cabbage rolls in an oven preheated to 160 C and cook for about one hour, increasing the temperature slightly at the very end.

Tomato sauce with dill and caraway seeds

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp. vegetable broth;
  • 1 piece each carrots and onions;
  • 25 g tomato paste;
  • oil for frying;
  • dried ginger;
  • 2 – 3 cloves of garlic;
  • 1 tbsp. l. sifted flour;
  • 3 g cumin;
  • ½ tsp. dried dill;
  • salt and sugar, several types of ground pepper.

Preparation:

  1. Grind the garlic and cumin in a mortar, and finely chop the vegetables.
  2. Simmer the onions and carrots until soft.
  3. Add ginger, tomato paste, mixture from step one, salt and sugar.
  4. When the mass is evenly colored, add broth with flour.
  5. Simmer the contents of the pan until thickened.

Serve the sauce hot or cold with ready-made cabbage rolls.

Cooking with sour cream

Ingredients:

  • half a liter of medium fat sour cream;
  • 5 – 6 garlic cloves;
  • 1 tsp. ground red hot pepper;
  • 1 bunch of fresh dill;
  • fine salt.

Preparation:

  1. Wash the parsley bunch and cut off the thick stems. Finely chop the remaining greens with a knife.
  2. Mix parsley with sour cream. A dairy product with 20% fat content is perfect for this sauce.
  3. Salt the mixture to taste. Add red pepper and crushed fresh garlic.

You can simmer cabbage rolls in sour cream sauce according to this recipe in the oven. Or serve the filling separately to a ready-made hot dish.
