A simple version of a triangular pie

This option for preparing triangles in pita bread batter with ham and cheese (in a frying pan) is considered not only one of the most delicious, but also generally accessible.

What ingredients will you need to prepare this delicious dish? Have to take

  • one large Armenian (thin) lavash or two smaller ones;
  • two eggs;
  • 200 grams each of ham and soft cheese.
  • 4 tbsp. l. sour cream;
  • a small bunch of green onions;
  • 1 tsp. mustard;
  • a large pinch of salt and black pepper.

How to cook?

In order to cook pita bread in an egg in a frying pan, grate the ham and cheese on the coarsest grater or cut into narrow slices. Finely chop the onion and mix the sour cream with mustard and spices. Next, combine cheese, onion and sausage in one bowl, pour sour cream sauce over them and mix well with a spoon. In another bowl, beat eggs with 3-4 tbsp. spoons of cool water. Carefully unroll the Armenian lavash on the table, cut into strips 10 cm wide, starting from the wide edge.

Place the filling in the form of a triangle on the narrow edge of each piece and wrap it, giving the product the same shape. To do this, you need to wrap the pita bread once to the left, then to the right, forming a triangular pie. Then dip each one in beaten eggs and fry in a frying pan in a small amount of vegetable oil until lightly browned. If you want the cheese inside to melt more, it is better to cover the pan with a lid to create a higher heat treatment temperature.

How else can you roll pita bread?

You can wrap pita bread in a pie not only in the form of a triangle; pita bread with ham and cheese in a frying pan is often formed in the form of a square or envelope folded in four. How to do it?

  1. The only difference between a square folded four times and other molding options is that this option is not fried in batter or eggs, as it is already formed in a frying pan during the heat treatment process. To do this, place pita bread, cut to the diameter of the dish, on a heated frying pan, put 3 tbsp on one half. l. filling and fold in half using a spatula. Then spread another tablespoon of cheese mixture over the surface and fold in half again. Turn the resulting lavash pie over to the other side and wait until it browns.
  2. It’s even easier to roll up a layer of lavash with an envelope: cut it into squares measuring 20 * 20 cm (approximately), put the filling in the center in a longitudinal strip and fold two edges (left and right) towards the center, and then repeat the action with the top and bottom edges. Next, roll the resulting envelope in beaten egg or batter and fry in a frying pan on both sides until browned.

What to choose for the filling?

If you are a vegetarian, and pita bread with ham and cheese in a frying pan is not a suitable filling option for you, then you can replace the ham with fresh tomatoes. The recipe will look like this: mix 4 tbsp in a cup. l. sour cream with 200-250 grams of grated cheese. Place the cut pieces of lavash on the table, place the filling in the center of each, and carefully distribute the tomato circles on top of it.

Next, if desired, you can use fresh basil leaves: sprinkle a small amount of chopped herbs and a pinch of salt on each piece of tomato. Wrap each piece of pita bread in an envelope, dip in beaten eggs (2 pieces) and fry in a large frying pan until lightly browned. This version of the dish is dietary compared to the first option, so if a person has problems with excess weight, but really wants to try lavash pies, it’s worth taking it into consideration.

This method of frying pita bread with ham and cheese in a frying pan is called lazy because it is not particularly meticulous in the cooking process; it is often used by people for whom the aesthetics of the dish is not a priority - as long as it is quick and tasty.

  4. Place a generous pinch of cheese in the middle, a little ham on top, and crack a gray egg on top. Using a fork, start mixing the filling right inside the pita bread for 3-6 seconds.
  5. Fold the corners of the pita bread towards the center and lightly press them inward, and after 30 seconds, using a spatula, turn the resulting square with the filling over to the other side and fry for another 1-2 minutes, covering the dish with a lid.
