One of the most thrifty sea inhabitants is seaweed. It absorbs minerals dissolved in water better than anyone else. This is a big plus, but at the same time a huge minus: beneficial substances accumulate in clean ocean water. But if industrial waste is dumped into the water, the product becomes very harmful.
High-quality kelp can treat many diseases. Everyone knows that our thyroid gland functions “on iodine.” If there is enough of it, the gland produces a sufficient amount of hormones that regulate metabolic processes. But if a person has low iodine content, an endometrial goiter appears in the thyroid gland. This has a bad effect on the entire body: drowsiness appears, weight fluctuates, hair falls out, etc. In algae, iodine is easily absorbed; 200% of the daily requirement of this component is present.
In addition, kelp contains many sterols necessary for a healthy body. They reduce cholesterol levels and prevent them from accumulating on the walls of blood vessels. You can eat dry, canned or frozen seaweed.
Other benefits of algae:

- corrects disorders of the gastrointestinal tract due to its fiber content;

But speaking about the great benefits of seaweed, we cannot help but talk about contraindications. But they exist. You should not use this product if you have:
- hypersensitivity to iodine;
- excess of this substance in the body;
- kidney disease;
- hemorrhagic diathesis.
If algae grows in environmentally polluted areas, then it has absorbed not only useful minerals, but also harmful salts. So it will do more harm than good. You also need to know the limit: 200% of the daily dose can lead to hyperthyroidism - the thyroid gland will secrete hormones uncontrollably. During pregnancy, you should also be careful, you can harm the baby. The period of breastfeeding is a rather dangerous time. Some doctors say that it is possible, provided the measures are followed. And others are sure that it is still harmful for the baby to receive so much additional iodine.
Fast and easy
We will use ready-made pickled cabbage; if you pickle it yourself, adjust the amount of salt. Take sweet corn, this is important; if it is tasteless, you can add sugar. The algae stems can be large, so you can simply chop them with a knife.
We will need:
- Pickled seaweed – 250 gr.;
- Crab sticks – 200 gr.;
- Canned corn – 1 can;
- Mayonnaise – 100 gr.;
- Boiled eggs – 4 pcs.;
- Salt to taste.
Cut the sticks into cubes and grate the eggs. Combine all ingredients, including corn, in one deep plate. Add mayonnaise, add some salt and mix well. You can serve it in portions, or you can put it in one salad bowl. A very tasty and simple option.
Recipe 2: Seaweed salad with egg and crab sticks
The secret of this recipe is that canned corn along with crab sticks slightly hides and softens the taste of cabbage, which many people do not like in its pure form.
Required ingredients:
- 300 g – kelp:
- 1 b. - corn;
- 1 PC. - onion;
- 2 tbsp. l. - mayonnaise;
- 3 pcs. - egg;
- 200 g – crab sticks.
Cooking method:
First, finely chop the onion and mix with pickled cabbage. If the seaweed is too long, you can cut it in several places.
Crab sticks are cut first crosswise and then into half rings, boiled eggs into cubes. All that remains is to strain the juice from the corn and combine all the ingredients. Dress the salad with low-fat mayonnaise
With seafood
This is an ideal option for seafood lovers. In addition, they are good for fasting, because on some days you can eat them.
Let's prepare in advance
- 300 gr. seaweed;
- 200 gr. sea cocktail;
- 2 cloves of garlic;
- Vegetable oil, salt and pepper to taste.
First, boil the seaweed for about 2-3 minutes, and then rinse with cold water. If you can’t find raw ones in the store, then take canned ones. Cut the garlic into thin slices and sauté in a frying pan in oil until golden.
Pre-defrost the cocktail and fry it in oil for 5 minutes. Mix all ingredients in a container, add salt and pepper. If desired, you can decorate with a lemon wedge.
Dry seaweed salad
To make dry kelp suitable for use, you need to soak it in warm water for about 2 hours, then boil it until it becomes soft and wash it several times in cold water. Only after this can you work with it.
What ingredients will be needed:
- garlic 30 grams;
- 200 grams of dry kelp;
- 80 grams of soy sauce;
- 40 grams of sunflower oil;
- sesame seeds - 10 g;
- 1 large onion;
- vinegar, salt and black pepper to taste.
Preparation progress:
- The prepared kelp must be cut into thin strips.
- The onion must be finely chopped and fried in vegetable oil.
- The garlic is cut very finely with a sharp knife.
- When the cabbage is ready, you need to mix it with onion, garlic, soy sauce, season with vinegar, salt and black pepper.
The finished dish must be mixed and can be served immediately.
With shrimps
An interesting recipe that deserves attention.
Products:
- 300 gr. boiled-frozen shrimp;
- 200 gr. kelp;
- 3 testicles;
- 2 stalks of celery;
- 1 onion;
- Spices;
- Mayonnaise.
Squeeze out the seaweed and put it in a salad bowl. We send here chopped eggs, chopped onions and celery. Pour boiling water over the seafood for a couple of minutes, drain the liquid. Add to the rest of the ingredients, salt, pepper, season with mayonnaise. Serve chilled.

Recipe 4: Seaweed salad with egg and Korean carrots
Guests are practically standing on the doorstep, and you don’t know what to treat them with. Salad of seaweed and Korean carrots is prepared instantly, so you can take this dish into service. By the way, kelp and carrots are the most commonly combined ingredients for salads.
Required ingredients:
- 250 g – Korean carrots;
- 2 pcs. - canned cucumbers;
- 2 pcs. - egg;
- 250 g – kelp;
- 1 PC. onion;
- 3 tbsp. l. – growth oil;
- 1 pinch each – red and ground pepper.
Cooking method:
Mix cabbage with carrots and add finely chopped onion. Then cut the cucumbers into cubes and mix everything. Let's make the dressing by mixing the oil and peppers. Note that in this case you can take not just seaweed, also prepared in Korean. Believe me, the taste of the salad will be significantly enriched.
With carrots
We will need:
- 150 g seaweed;
- 3 onions;
- 2 carrots;
- 2 bell peppers;
- 3 cloves of garlic;
- ½ chili pepper;
- 1 table. l. vinegar;
- 30 g sesame seeds;
- Soy sauce.
There is one more ingredient that you can add as you wish. MSG is often used in Korean cuisine. It makes the taste richer.
We wash the dried kelp well and fill it with cold water for an hour. Then boil until soft, this takes about twenty minutes. Grate the carrots coarsely (can be cut into strips), and the onion into half rings. Heat the oil in a frying pan, add the chili, quickly fry, then remove. Next, add sesame seeds and quickly fry and remove. We also send the onions here, sauté them, and add carrots. Don't fry them too much.
Add pepper strips and sea cabbage. Simmer over low heat, stirring. Remove from heat, squeeze out the garlic cloves, pour in vinegar and soy sauce. Cover with a towel and leave for an hour. This dish can be stored in the refrigerator for a long time.
Frozen seaweed salad
Recipes for frozen kelp dishes are quite simple. The most difficult thing in preparing them is to properly process the seafood.
What products are needed:
- 300 g frozen kelp;
- carrots - 2 pieces;
- 1 onion;
- sunflower oil for dressing.
How to cook:
- The cabbage must be boiled in water until it becomes soft. When boiling, you can add a little salt and citric acid to the water.
- Before preparing the dish, it must be cooled;
- Cut the kelp into strips, grate the carrots on a coarse grater, cut the onion into half rings.
- Next, you need to mix all the ingredients, add a little salt and season with vegetable oil.
You can also add garlic to this dish.
With oyster mushrooms
This version has a rather unusual combination of products, but the taste is interesting. The salad is not very high in calories, incredibly tasty and appetizing. And the cooking time only takes an hour, taking into account the time of baking the vegetables, preparing the mushrooms and cooling.
The list looks like this:
- 2 eggplants;
- 1 carrot;
- 1 onion;
- 1 sweet pepper;
- 200 g oyster mushrooms;
- 100 g seaweed;
- 2 tbsp. capers;
- Table l. white sesame;
- Mayonnaise to taste.
- Clean the mushrooms well, separate and rinse. We put them in a saucepan, fill them with water, it should cover them completely. Place on the stove, add salt and after boiling, boil for about twenty minutes at a low simmer. Drain the liquid and cool.
- We wash the eggplants, dry them with napkins, and make several punctures with a wooden toothpick so that they do not explode. Place the vegetables on a baking sheet with parchment paper, bake in the oven for about half an hour at 180C, they should also cool down.
- We put the kelp on a sieve so that the marinade drains; you can also make it from fresh, but if you don’t have it, canned food will do. When the excess liquid has drained, put it in a deep bowl, peel the carrots, grate them on a fine grater and add them here.
- Cut the pepper into thin strips and add to the salad. Peel the onion, cut into half rings, it is better to cut thinner. Pour in the capers and cut the baked eggplant into small cubes. Add oyster mushrooms, stir with mayonnaise.
- If you wish, you can make the filling yourself. For it you will need: 1 teaspoon. mustard, about 150 milliliters of vegetable oil, 0.5 teaspoon. l. sugar and salt, egg. Beat everything with an immersion blender to the desired consistency. Continuing to beat, pour in the previously prepared lemon juice (a tablespoon).
Lay out the salad and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Diet salad with seaweed and egg
Salads with fresh vegetables can be seasoned not only with mayonnaise, but also with vegetable oil.
What products will you need:
- kelp 300 g;
- 1 onion;
- 150 g corn;
- 2 large carrots;
- 2 chicken eggs;
- salt and oil for dressing.
How to cook:
- Chicken eggs should be boiled, then cooled and cut into large slices.
- The onion must be cut into small cubes, and the peeled carrots must be grated on a coarse grater.
- When all the ingredients are ready, they need to be mixed, salted and seasoned with oil. If desired, the dish can be seasoned with sour cream.
Not all kelp salads are dressed with mayonnaise. Some of them are prepared with vegetable oil, and some with sour cream. If desired, any recipe can be modified by seasoning it with vegetable oil, balsamic vinegar or soy sauce instead of mayonnaise.
From dried kelp
Here you will find an unusual combination of seaweed and pork. The composition is minimal, but the dish turns out to be nutritious, spicy and quite bright. Garlic is added here, so the taste and aroma will be rich.
The product set looks like this:
- 150 g dried kelp;
- 200 g pork fillet;
- 30 g sunflower oil;
- 2 garlic cloves;
- 30 g soy sauce.
Pour cold water over the cabbage and leave for an hour. Cut the pork into pieces and place it in a frying pan, add salt and pepper. Place the softened seaweed on a sieve and rinse well, place in a saucepan, add water again and cook over low heat for 10 minutes. Drain all the liquid again.
Fry in a frying pan with oil for about 5 minutes, pour in the sauce. Pour all prepared ingredients into one bowl, add garlic, passed through a press, mix.
During cooking, the cabbage will smell unpleasant, but this smell is not noticeable in the salad. Also keep a close eye on the foam.
