They are not as harmful as fried fries, and they are much easier to prepare: put them in the oven, and after 40 minutes you get the most delicious side dish. The main thing is to properly prepare the root vegetable, and here's how to do it.
Potatoes: preparation
Root vegetables need to be washed using a brush and then peeled. After this, remove all dark spots from the pulp (eyes) and rinse again. Then cut into slices or cubes.
Take a suitable pan. Place the potato slices in a container and add cold water so that it covers the root vegetable by 1 cm. Lightly salt the contents of the container.
Place the slices on the stove. Starting from boiling water over moderate heat, wait 5-7 minutes. Drain the water and leave the potatoes in a strainer or colander. This technique will help get rid of excess liquid: it will drain.
How to cook potatoes in the oven with pork
Amazingly delicious baked potatoes with juicy meat and cheese. No matter how much you prepare this dish, there will never be enough! Be sure to try it and this recipe will become one of your favorites!
To prepare we will need:
- Potatoes – 2 kg.
- Carrots – 2 pcs.
- Onions – 2 pcs.
- Garlic – 1 clove
- Pork – 500 gr.
- Vegetable oil – 40 ml.
- Ground black pepper – 10 gr.
- Hard cheese – 80 gr.
- Mayonnaise – 3 tbsp. spoons
Preparation:
- We cut the pork into 3-4 cm pieces. Fry the meat in a hot frying pan, greased with vegetable oil until golden brown.
- Chop the onion and garlic into small cubes. Three carrots on a coarse grater.
- Add onion and garlic to the fried meat. Simmer for two minutes.
- Next, add the carrots to the meat and fry until they become soft. Salt and pepper the ingredients and mix.
- Cut the potatoes into strips.
- Add salt, pepper, mayonnaise and mix.
- Place the meat on the bottom of the baking dish, then the potatoes.
- Sprinkle grated cheese on top and cover with a lid or foil.
- Place the potatoes to bake at 180 degrees for 1.5 hours.
Potatoes in the oven with sour cream and garlic
This recipe is for those who like a combination of spicy and delicate flavors.
To prepare you need:
- 850 g potatoes;
- 30-40 g garlic;
- 250 ml sour cream;
- 10 ml olive oil;
- salt.
Total cooking time: 45 minutes.
Calorie content: 92 kcal/100 g.
Peel the potatoes and boil in salted water until half cooked. Add crushed and chopped garlic to the sour cream. For this dish it is better to use liquid sour cream.
If the sour cream is thick, you can dilute it with a little warm (room temperature) water.
Place the potatoes on a greased metal baking sheet and pour the sour cream and garlic mixture over them. Place it in the electric oven at about 180 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
Potatoes with lard in the oven on a baking sheet
A very small piece of lard is enough for the potatoes to be saturated with its taste and become juicy and soft. What else do you need on cold days to warm up and fill yourself with energy?!
In addition, lard is not as harmful as we have long imagined it to be. In moderate doses (optimally 30–40 g per day) it is quite useful. It contains two such fatty acids - linoleic and arachidonic, which are very important for the brain. And at high temperatures, toxic aldehydes and peroxides do not form in lard, as, for example, in vegetable oil. So, we can safely use this product!

Boiled potatoes baked in the oven with cheese are a hearty and very tasty dish. The potato comes out with a crispy and spicy crust, soft and crumbly inside. Everything is prepared very simply. The potatoes are boiled before baking, which reduces the cooking time in the oven. Potatoes can be boiled in advance, and then mixed with spices and baked in the oven. Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes;
- 70 ml vegetable oil;
- 40 g cheese;
- 1.5 tsp. granulated garlic;

Cooking steps
- Wash the potatoes thoroughly and, without peeling them, cut them into 8 wedges. Pour water over the potatoes, lightly salt them and cook until tender (15-20 minutes). Place the finished potatoes in a colander to drain.
- Separately mix vegetable oil, salt, cumin, paprika, granulated garlic and Provençal herbs.
- Grate the cheese on a fine grater.
- Add vegetable oil with spices and grated cheese to the boiled potato wedges, mix everything carefully.
- Place the potatoes in a baking dish.

Required ingredients:
- potatoes - 300-350 grams;
- salt;
- ground paprika;
- head of garlic - 1 pc.;

Baked Potatoes with Rosemary and Garlic
Ingredients
- 900 g potatoes;
- 2 tablespoons olive oil;
- 4 cloves of garlic;
- salt - to taste;
- ground black pepper - to taste;
- ½ bunch of fresh rosemary.
Preparation
- Rinse the potatoes well and cut them in half or quarters if the potatoes are too large. Place the potatoes on a baking sheet, pour oil over them, sprinkle with chopped garlic, salt, pepper and chopped rosemary. Reserve a few sprigs of rosemary for garnish.
- Stir the potatoes and place in an oven preheated to 220°C for about an hour. Turn the potatoes periodically. If you find the crust not crispy enough, increase the cooking time by 15 minutes. Before serving, garnish the vegetables with fresh rosemary.
Potatoes baked in slices with garlic and lard
This recipe will be especially interesting for those who are partial to lard.
To prepare you will need:
- 850 g potatoes;
- 180 g lard;
- 30-40 g garlic;
- 10 ml vegetable oil (olive);
- salt.
Total cooking time: 1 hour 10 minutes.
Calorie content of the finished dish: 191 kcal/100 g.
Peel the potatoes and cut into slices. Place on a greased iron baking sheet and sprinkle with a little salt.
Place a small strip of lard and a piece of garlic on top of each potato. Place in a preheated electric oven at about 180 degrees for 45 minutes.
Baked potatoes with lemon
Ingredients
- 700 g potatoes;
- 1 lemon;
- 2 cloves of garlic;
- several sprigs of thyme;
- 4 tablespoons olive oil;
- ¾ teaspoon sea salt;
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper.
Preparation
- Rinse the potatoes with a stiff brush and dry with a paper towel. Cut the potatoes in half, or quarters if the tubers are too large, and place in a bowl.
- Cut the lemon lengthwise into four parts. Squeeze the juice into a bowl with the potatoes and add the lemon quarters. Add chopped garlic, chopped thyme, oil, salt and pepper and mix well.
- Place the potatoes on a baking sheet and place in an oven preheated to 230°C for about 30 minutes. Turn slices occasionally until browned.
New potatoes with skins in the oven
Larger tubers can be cut into slices, and it is better to use coarse salt.
Ingredients:
- potatoes – 1 kg;
- oil – 50 ml;
- dill – 2-3 sprigs;
- salt, spices.
Preparation:
- Cut large tubers lengthwise into halves and then into quarters.
- Boil water in a saucepan and place the potato wedges in it for a couple of minutes.
- Drain the water, pour vegetable oil into the pan, add salt and spices.
- You can add a little turmeric to make the potatoes golden.
- Cover the pan with a lid and shake it until all the wedges are evenly coated with the seasonings and oil.
- Lay tracing paper on a baking sheet and place the potato pieces in one layer.
- Place in a hot oven for a quarter of an hour until golden brown.

Preparation
- Rinse the potatoes and scrape off the skin with the rough side of a sponge. Place in a saucepan, cover with cold water and cook for 10–12 minutes after the water boils.
- Heat oil in a frying pan and fry finely chopped onion and chopped bacon. In a separate container, beat eggs, milk, cream, salt and pepper until smooth.

Unlike the first option, this one involves a combination of two bright seasonings that do not always go together. However, in this recipe such harmonization of flavors is still welcome.
Ingredients:
1) 1 kg of potatoes; 2) a pinch of curry and thyme (in equal proportions); 3) several cloves of garlic; 4) 2 tbsp. spoons of olive oil; 5) salt to taste.
