I often make Danish braids with cream cheese for my children’s breakfast: I can’t resist a piece myself either.


A crispy layer cake with fruit is exactly what you would want to taste, for example, on a cold winter day to remember the sunny summer. Do you have strawberries in the freezer? :) Is there puff pastry there? After all, frozen puff pastry will significantly speed up the preparation!

The pie turns out very tasty and satisfying thanks to the fruit, crispy base and cottage cheese filling. Instead of cottage cheese, you can use mascarpone cream cheese for the filling. Instead of strawberries, you can take other berries when they are in season, for example raspberries, cherries, etc. And if it’s winter, then the choice of berries will be limited to the stocks that you will find in the same freezer :)

Chocolate baked in puff pastry step by step recipe with photos

As the wise saying goes: “Everything ingenious is simple!” This can be said about an amazing, original and light dessert, for which you will need a chocolate bar and puff pastry. If you don’t have a lot of free time, but want to enjoy something sweet, chocolate and homemade, you can use an excellent step-by-step recipe.

Ingredients:

  • chicken egg – 1 pc.;
  • puff pastry – 1 package;
  • chocolate;
  • nuts.

Culinary process technology:

First, you need to roll out the dough to form a rectangular layer. Its width will correspond to the length of the selected chocolate bar. Line a baking tray with special baking paper and place the rolled out puff pastry onto it. Place the chocolate bar in the center of the layer, as in the photo.

The next step is to make cuts, the width of which is about two centimeters. Start cutting from the filling to the edges, cutting along the bias. It is advisable to use a pizza knife, but using a regular knife will certainly work. Make cuts on both sides of the chocolate.

Next, you need to place the cut pieces of dough on the chocolate bar. This is done crosswise, in simple words - braid the hair.

Carefully, carefully cover the entire chocolate bar so that it is not visible. Using a knife, you can lightly press the edges.

Beat the chicken egg with a fork and spread an even layer over the entire surface of the prepared puff pastry.

You can add nuts if you wish, but this is not necessary. Cut them into medium pieces and sprinkle on top of the pie.

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Then you can put the baking sheet with the pie in the oven for twenty-five minutes.

The layered chocolate masterpiece according to the original recipe is ready. Serve it with hot coffee, tea, cocoa or milk. You can enjoy the incredible taste and delicate aroma of homemade dessert.

How to make “Chocolate braid from puff pastry”

Roll out the defrosted puff pastry into a rectangle. The size is three times larger than a chocolate bar. Place the rolled out dough on a sheet of parchment.

Place a chocolate bar in the middle of the rolled out sheet of dough.

Not reaching the edge of the chocolate about 1 cm, we make oblique cuts on the dough.

And we begin to weave a braid: we alternately wrap the strips on one side or the other, like a braid.

Grind the peeled nuts into crumbs. You can use a knife, or you can use a rolling pin.

Lubricate the braid with egg or cream.

Sprinkle with chopped nuts and place in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 30 minutes. The pie should brown beautifully.

Puff pastry braid with onion and egg

A puff pastry braid looks beautiful and appetizing, and preparing it is not difficult. The filling can be very varied; I suggest making a pie with onions and eggs. The baked goods are very tasty, aromatic and nutritious! You can prepare this pie when guests arrive or treat your loved ones for breakfast.

Roll out the puff pastry. On a lightly floured countertop, roll out each piece of defrosted puff pastry to 22 x 27 centimeters.

For simple homemade sweets, all you need is a couple of fruits, sugar and a package of store-bought yeast-free dough. And your imagination will then tell you how to create curlicue braids from such a set.

Ingredients:

  • Dough – 250 g (2 sheets)
  • Apple – 2 pcs.
  • Pear – 1 pc.
  • Sugar, cinnamon - to taste

How to make a braid using 4 pieces of puff pastry

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. If the dough is frozen, then give it time to thaw.

Prepare the fruit. First, wash them thoroughly and wipe dry. Remove the core and seeds from the fruit.

Using a slicer, cut the fruit pulp into thin slices.

Roll out the dough layer on a silicone mat in length and width to the maximum possible size. However, remember that we are not preparing a strudel, so the base should not be too thin.

Cut the layer into 4 long strips of equal width approximately 5 cm. Trim uneven edges.

Place fruit slices in one layer on each strip, alternating apple with pear.

Sprinkle the filling of the future braid with cinnamon sugar. For apples, this is a classic seasoning that can be adjusted to suit your taste and the sweetness of the fruit.

Place the filling on only half of each strip.

Cut the dough sheet in half and roll it into 2 rectangles measuring 15 cm by 18 cm. For more accurate measurements, you can use a ruler. Repeat with the second sheet of dough.

Advice. If cracks form while working with the puff pastry, simply dampen them with a little water and press down with your fingers to bring the dough back together.

Place one of the rectangles with the short side facing you, and place a chocolate bar in the center.

Make diagonal cuts from top to bottom on both sides of the bar. Make cuts starting from the top and ending with the bottom corners of the chocolate bar. The width of the stripes is about 2-2.5 cm.

Cut off the resulting triangles at the top and bottom to form small rectangles.

Wrap the resulting rectangles onto a chocolate bar.

Advice. To make it easier to join the edges of the puff pastry and seal the filling, you can take an egg and water mixture, brush the edges of the pastry and press well.

  • Raisins – 50 g

In this recipe I want to share with you a quick way to make a chocolate and nut braid using puff pastry. The braid looks very impressive: it has chocolate inside and beautiful nuts on top. Suitable for any occasion, and with the help of different types of chocolate and nuts you can easily change flavors. Now I’ll tell you in order what and how to cook.

To prepare a braid of puff pastry with nuts and chocolate, we will take:

  • Puff pastry without yeast - 0.5 kg (1 package - 2 plates)
  • Chocolate - 200 g (2 bars, without fillers, whichever you prefer: milk, bitter, white; I don’t recommend porous, because it has a specific texture)
  • Nuts - 4 tbsp. spoons (walnuts, hazelnuts, peanuts, cashews, pecans or any others you like)
  • Egg - 1 pc.
  • Cinnamon - 0.5 teaspoon (ground)
  • Flour - a little (sprinkle the board and rolling pin)
  • Baking paper - 2 sheets

How to make a braid with chocolate and nuts from puff pastry

  1. We will prepare everything you need. The puff pastry must be taken out in advance so that it can rise at room temperature (30-40 minutes). You also need to prepare the nuts in advance. Using a knife, chop them not very finely so that you can feel them and dry them a little in a frying pan for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally over medium heat. Line the baking trays on which we will bake our braids with baking paper. I recommend using a baking sheet for each braid so that they are not crowded.
  2. Take a layer of puff pastry, sprinkle the board and rolling pin with flour. Lightly sprinkle the dough with flour and begin rolling out. Our guide will be a chocolate bar, which we will place in the middle of our braid. There should be indents on the sides of the chocolate - approximately 4 cm on each side to the right and left. When the dough is already rolled out, you can already put a chocolate bar on it.
  3. Then, in order to “braid” the braid, we will make cuts with a knife at an angle of 40-45º on each edge that we left, at a distance of 1.5-2 cm. Now we begin to sequentially place cuts on the chocolate on the right, then on the left, repeating this for each cut . As a result, we will connect all the cuts located opposite each other, which resembles the appearance of a braid or braid. Additionally, check that there are no open parts of the chocolate on the sides, it is completely closed so that the chocolate does not leak during baking.
  4. Beat the egg with a fork or whisk until foam appears. Using a pastry brush, brush our chocolate braid with egg so that it browns when baking. Sprinkle cinnamon and nuts on top. I used pecans. In my opinion, it tastes very well with chocolate.
  5. Preheat the oven to 190°C. Using a spatula, carefully transfer the braid with nuts and chocolate to a baking sheet and bake for 35-40 minutes. We repeat the same for the second layer of dough and chocolate bar. You can bake our braids at the same time - on several levels of the oven.

We take our braids with chocolate and nuts out of the oven and let them cool. Then you can cut them into 3-4 cm pieces and serve. It turns out to be a very tasty combination of puff pastry, chocolate and nuts with a hint of cinnamon.
